  • The new 6th Street Bridge will be one for the ages. Councilmember Huizar worked to get a new $28M, 12-acre park space below the bridge filled with activities Boyle Heights, the Arts District and DTLA want. The bridge will be a destination for all of Los Angeles to enjoy. #TeamHuizar

Actually pretty impressed that the bridge itself looks exactly how it is modeled.

This is a great opportunity for people to come together we all have to make sure we’re having fun we’re safe and communicating with one another. Please make sure there are no homeless people around

I wonder how much cash went to Jose for this project.
I always hated when he said, “My office identified or secure money”, to do something.” Dude, it’s tax dollars not some magic fund you can pull from for political favors or in Jose’s case, threats.

Nothing like attending a concert or a Play with a Bridge full of cars above you. Lets be real, this is going to be the largest homeless camp in California.

How is it possible for this bridge to take over 4 years to build when in Inglewood they're building a massive football stadium in 2 1/2 years?

    • @jamescox7007

Tension vs compression. Bridges are more complex with stricter controls in place to support the weight of the bridge itself. 90% of the bridge's capacity will be the bridge itself

Well actually I built a lot of the bridge and what it was is the engineers would change their designs on how to build it and have to take it down and redo it... another reason is the city inspectors they are harsh on what has to be literally perfect. That's basically your answer..

building a bridge u have to factor in the type of load it can handle or we end up with a disaster like what happened in Minneapolis with their bridge collapsing.

This new bridge will never compare to the the old one or hold up like it. Long are the days of structures built to stand the test of time. LA wants a Utopia and old stuff built with lost craft and knowledge of building have no place.

I hate to say this but, I tend to agree with many of the comments written here. The area is Boyle Heights not Beverly hills, the bridge should have had a simple design and without all the fanfare below the bridge. It could have been built for a lot less money. I cringe at the thought of what this bridge will look like within a year.

Sounds spectacular and new and clean until the anti socials turn up and start tagging and defaming it with (pardon me) retarded slogans, my biggest pet peave of L.A, even the 'tree' at Angels Point has spray painted graffiti on it, makes me sick!

It would be great to maintain what we have now. We have no street sweeping trashy filthily conditions. and millions on a bridge and park where the severely mentally ill and addicted most likely will f it up so sad

That bridge will be rundown and covered with graffiti by 2022, and a park underneath ya that sounds like a great place to have a picnic. You should have seen the valley in the 50s and 60s now its one big traffic jam and mall rats.

I think the new bridge is ugly also with a park below you’ll have every homeless person from skid Road living at the park some even trying to jump off the bridge.
