  • Medieval Dynasty Let's Play | Episode 2: Farming, big game hunting, making that coin!
There is a madness to my method. I mean a method to my madness. This little village will start something quite big in time. Sorry for the rush in the first video, but I was on a time crunch for this Spring. I have a goal in mind and it's possible, nay, going to happen!
Day 2 has the farm expanding and the village gaining it's first two villagers. They must be in love, since they moved into the only home together (except the goofy one with one stone wall!) not for utility. It's for the love. Today it's time to try to hunt moose (mooses? mossi? Mossessess?! It's moose, to be real) and discover that they are worth it! Big game hunter we will be! Now...hunting rabbits? No. Not at all worth it. I'm not bitter.
    Chapters:
    0:00 Intro and my learnings!
2:35 The method to the madness
6:10 The location, I miss Don-Key, and PCs for ethical treatment of PCs!
10:51 Off to questing, hunting, flirting!
    18:20 So...I'm a thief now...that's new...
    21:25 The disappearing crow-corpse?!
    24:40 Big game hunter!
30:25 Back, outro...the future PC revolt...

    Hint re village decoration.
There is a villager quest to obtain lavender honey from Piastovia.
That honey also has a nice and unique model.
Once you get to the point where you are decorating shelves in your house or the common area of your village... Store a few honey on the shelf. They are relatively cheap, they look cool, and when the quest wants one, you just grab it without needing a trip to town.
Note: A lot of the flirting gifts have cool models and make nice decorations.
some of the good ones are... Scales, beer mug, drinking horn, toy sword, jewelry box, Ornate Toolbox, gadget belt.
    - The tree seedlings also have neat models for decoration.
    - The quest up in the NW.... where you search the wood piles to find the toy for the "little piglet". There are outcomes where you get to keep the toy. It is a nice looking hobby horse. I have it leaned up against my son's cradle. Looks SWEET!
    - The coverlet looks pretty cool sitting on your home's chest too (depending on placement and lighting).
    Cheers

Oh, I’m watching them. They have been plotting, I just know it!
Also, is it just me or are there more?! I swear there are more pigeons in town…I’m doomed.

    - This one is looking much better from the start :) (Sorry if I was rude yesterday, not my intent)
    - You have cherries in your inventory. If you eat them while you are hoeing, they have a nice stamina buff.
    - I love the plans against the Crow and Pigeon cabal.
    - I think you might have remapped your controls... for me, Alt is inspect mode, and tab brings up the inventory / management view. I know I didn't change my controls.
    - I do NOT think that well extraction works for villagers. I saw someone complaining about how slow it was the other day.
    - I think extracting a bucket from the well will give the player 40 points towards extraction skill. Mining a node is like 6 points, and chopping a tree all the way down is like 11 points.
    - villagers in other towns will buy the stolen stuff.
    - You are much more patient than me. I took the sky rats quest once... I haven't taken a single hunting quest since. Turnins... sure, but hunting... nope :) I'm glad you do. It is entertaining.
    - Great video.

Thank you! Also, no worries. I can understand where you were coming from and I do think it was good to get the reality check on just being me!
Ya know what, I did discover the cherry thing on accident in one of my retakes. It was helpful and now I want cherry trees.
I better double check my mapping. Perhaps I am getting cross links from another game that doesn’t use Tab…that would help if it still is! Remap I will be
Now, as for the cabal. I swear there are more pigeons this playthrough. I am concerned for the well being of my people this close to Pigeon-lovia. Maybe the whole town has turned…
Thanks for the insights as always! It is good to know well extraction does not work on the workers. I don’t really want to waste the work on it if I don’t have to!

Hint about tools in the resource storage.
I had originally thought that the villagers would use the lowest quality tool first... (stone, then copper, then bronze etc...)
It appears that they actually use the lowest durability first.
example... If you have a stack of stone tools that each have 120 durability... and you have an iron tool with 135 durability left... the villagers will use the stone tools. If however, your iron tool was down to 119 durability, I believe they would take and use the Iron tool.
takeaway... if you are going to save your 1% axes and scythes for quests, leave them on the ground, not in the resource storage.

That makes sense and thank you for looking into that. I tend to like to hide them out in my home but I like out in the open more. Then the decorating can start early!

WOW chalk and cheese that's what this is from your first...I don't know if you read what I put there as yet. Just finished posting it too seems like your reading my mind. Hmmm I may need some pigeons for protection... hehehe. Looking forward to this new series if it continues going like this, cheers m8. 🦤

Glad you enjoy! Sorry, I rushed to get this one out as I wanted to show the progression and get past the looooong first day. Day 3 is recorded too, it went too well to stop! I did not get the POIs yet, but I did want to be sure to get a hunt and a wander in. Don’t worry, next season I need money for Rye. Those POIs are mine!

I thought your ludicrous speed was fairly funny. Throwing in humor once in a while is good but something like that where it consumes that much time should be done very seldom. Cutting out repetitive activity is better but you do have humor and it is okay to express it. 😊

Maybe set your seasons to 5 or so days to slow down a bit?

    • @KeenFool
      @KeenFool  6 месяцев назад +1

Not a bad idea at all. I kinda like the challenge of 3 days. The other issue is that at 5 days it takes a looong time to get kids aged up. Later in the game, after the initial busy start, there is too much free time in the days, to me that is.
Good thought though! I have tried 5 days before and it’s just too much time waiting for crop changes.

Does the villagers add to your experience for their work?

    • @KeenFool
      @KeenFool  6 месяцев назад

It does not add to your experience for gaining points for leveling, such as getting new skills and so on. It does contribute to technology for unlocking buildings which also unlocks buildings, items to construct in those buildings, and decorations. Great question!
