Great video as I continue to setup my Hydros for my little Biocube 32. I have an Inkbird with a titanium heater and will follow that diagram. I will also purchase a back up heater to reside in with the main heater and let Hydros do the heavy lifting. I like that safety net. Keep the workshop videos coming. 👍

Just got my Hydros Controller! I love it! I am currently trying to set up redundant over heat protection, I want my Helio dual heater controller to control the on & off switching of my BRS titanium heaters and the hydros controller to act as redundant protection in the case of an over heat event (Helio controller fails open) via my Hydros power strip. The temperature setting on the helio controller is set to 78 F (controlled to aprox +/- 1.5 F), on the Hydros I have the hi temp shut off at 85 F. I'm not sure what I should run for a low temp setting on the Hydros. Any recomendations?? For some reason the Hydros power strip/controller shut my Helio contoller off last night and the tank definately did not over heat. Scatching my head as to why. Any inputs you can provide are greately appreciated! =)

These HYDROS seem well worth the great price

Dave...can i swing by and buy stuff at your store? About the topic, I am just lucky enough to live in central FL so even at its coldest, water takes a long time to cool down or warm up so i do have a 1/10 HP chiller and no heater. Regardless of what i do, this is a very important topic for those folks whom live on those areas of extreme cold or warm temp weather.

What happens when the relay in hydros powerboard fails on (as these types of relay normally do) and leaves the heater turned on despite the hydros turning the outlet off?

It was not the power load from trying to heat homes that crashed the power grid. What happened was that 70% of the wind turbines froze up, and all our solar farms were covered in snow, so they also did not produce electricity either. Im in SATX. This is what we delt with.

Can Hydros use a sensor that detects the temperature sensor out of water feature?

You can use either of the temp sensors to measure air temp. Just don’t confuse your water temp and air temp sensors especially if controlling a heater.

      @@CoralVueTV I apologized,
If the water temperature sensor is out of the water or expose to air. Is there an IFTTT feature that will notify me in case the heater thermostat fails.

@@1WORLD1MISSION1 The temp sensors should be fully submerged at the lowest level of the tank or sump to prevent them from sensing external temperatures. You can set a bunch of settings for the heater to prevent the issues with heater failures like min and max on and off times, power safe range, etc. but we still recommend a second thermostat as a secondary precaution.
