Hi Philip. I recently took GMAT. Watching your videos helped me immensely for quant. And this particular video was the pinnacle of it. Can't thank you enough for all your efforts put in these videos. May you get all that you wanted and a lot more in life.
Earlier I used to solve these type of question using algebraic translations and was struggling with time management. This method significantly increased my accuracy and efficiency. Thank Philip. Really appreciate it.
but anyhow i applied this trick to a lot of the hardest weighted averages question and maaaan this works like crazy , thank you so much for doing this.
Wow!! Seriously thank you so much for all your GRE videos. Taking the exam in 2 days, your videos have been extremely helpful for clearing concepts and as last minute review. Can’t thank you enough
All the way from Nigeria, I am really glad to be a subscriber and really ecstatic particularly for this trick, I solve weighted average questions on an average of 1 min 20s, but I have been able to beat it down to 30s. my exam is 1st week in nov and ill come here to testify.
Seriously!! Thanks for the Videos!! This is helping me a lot more than most that I have been searching and reading. The way you explain, ingrains all the tips and tricks into my mind. My Time Management has improved a lot through your GRE Tutor Videos. Thank you.
This is hands down one of the best tricks that I could have learned while doing the GRE. I take my test on Saturday and this is such a time saver. I just want to say thank you for sharing this!
You are a brilliant tutor and thanks for explaining the application with questions of such different nature and difficulty, which really aids in understanding the concept.
This is amazing!! I have had a lot of tutors in the past, but none have been able to get through to me. Your videos are simple and different. I can actually understand and retain everything! Thank you so much!
Thanks for such an amazing lesson Philip!!! I hope I will do good in my real test with these tricks. I really find it hard to manage time and ur tricks seem to help with just that..
Hey Philip, great video I love it, i was wondering if you could make another video explaining why this even works so as to completely explain the underlying principle.
You truly deserve more Phil.. will try to get your channel a wider reach in every way possible... Please never stop uploading... Thank you so much!! :)
This was an epic shortcut. Thank you so much for this. I wish I’d discovered your videos much earlier, as it would have made studying more efficient..!!
loved these tips and tricks by you.... i really don't like math but i guess watching and learning from your videos have made it super easy and fun solving these questions. wish you luck Sir
vid = document.getElementsByTagName("video")[0]; vid.playbackRate = 2.5 paste and execute this on console if you want to watch video even faster than 2x.
hey phillip , i have a doubt on the last question, you said 1/4 of the mixture of glass B is in the resulting glass , but isn't it the calculation just for lemonade , so it is 1/4 of 65% of the resultant glass not 1/4 of the entire resultant glass. hence you cannot calculate 1/2 of 1/4 is the cola in the resultant glass. am I right?
Super helpful video! Just a question though, what would be an indicator in a question that would lead one to the conclusion that it focused on weighted averages
Hey Phillip, In last question, why 70% is taken on the left hand side instead of right hand side? By convention we should take smaller number on left hand side right? Clarify my doubt please.
Hello, The middle number trick is helpful, however I got a bit confused why we did a 3/8 and 5/8 when we didnt do that in the previous question. Why didnt we Keep it as M=3/5 E and E+M=120 --> 3/5E+E=120 and solved for that. The numbers were different though. E=evenning M=matinee Thanks
Hi Philip! Great video! I wonder if you can made another video explaining the basic kind of charts that appeared in the GRE and how to read them. I tried several methods to learned how to read them but I find it difficult .
On the last question, if 62.5 ml is the amount of cola , and then 325 ml will be the amount of lemonade, hence their sum will be 387.5. After we get this value 112.5 ml is left for water, but from question water only have 30% of the total of two containers because it only found in the first container, so that, how come 112.5 amount is left for water?
@TheTestedTutor Last part: 65% of 500 ml= 325 ml lemonade in mixture; one fourth of which came from glass B= 81.25 ml lemonade from glass B. As glass B contails same amount( 50%) cola. Volume of cola=81.25 ml ??
Thank you again for this video. Can you make a video on word problems with one/two variables from Manhattan 5 lb, or difficult word questions of ratio and proportion.
I got 43.75 ml for the last example. Here's my thought process: if 65% of the final mixture is lemonade then, the remaining 35% would be a mixture of water and cola. This now provides a weighted average for a water and cola mixture. Then, that 35% became my middle number while 30% and 50% where the values for water and cola respectively. Obviously, my answer was different from yours (so, possibly wrong) but I am finding it hard to pick out the error in my logic.
Upon attempting the first example using algebra; 0.3P + 0.15S = 0.26 and second equation of p+s = 1... solving the simultaneous equation gives a totally different solution as the ratio... Some clarity would be appreciated... @thetestedtutor
Super helpful I have watched this a couple of times when I keep forgetting 🤦♀️! Many thanks for all your great videos and for never making me feel dumb 😂

This is simply earth shattering!
The BEST trick out there. How do you identify weighted averages vs mixtures vs other ratio problems?
This is an awesome trick, solving by creating equations used to take considerable time. Thanks.

Your Work is amazing! I love your videos

am I right?
No the 1/4 is for all of Glass B, not just its lemonade. This trick always gets you the overall proportion instantly...
Thanks a lot for all these videos. Short and crisp.
