I read a biography about her years ago. I don't remember the name of it. I came away that her life was sad & she was constantly seeking the approval of her overbearing Irish father. She had siblings who were athletic & one of her sisters was in the Olympics for swimming. She was pretty and not competitive, so her dad dismissed her. She achieved so much, even won the Academy award for one of her movies, and her dad said, if she could do it, anyone could! think she married Prince Albert STILL trying to get her fathers approval! Sad, altogether. 😢

The parents did not want her to marry a man who had been divorced During 1950's/early 1960's most people married at a younger age than in this era. During 1950's/early 1960's divorce was relatively difficult to obtain. The only reason being allowed was adultery. (i.e. "Fault" -- Blame someone for the break-up) Nowadays "No-Fault" divorce is legal.
He has his faults but is nothing even close to being a "psycho". How he is blamed constantly for his wife's problems is something I will never understand.

It is clear that Grace kept her courtship via correspondence with Prince Ranier a closely guarded secret, not disclosing this to anyone. It was therefore a huge shock to everyone when she announced her engagement to the prince. When meeting with OC to tell him her news, she understandably, did not disclose she had been writing to him since their first meeting in Monaco so OC assumed they were not in love and asked Grace how she could marry someone she didn’t know or love. Not knowing that Grace was already in love with him as Grace tended to fall in love at the drop of a hat. I think that is the truth of the situation. Beyond that I wouldn’t put too much stock in anything OC had to say. He was a known liar and a rather slimy character. From reading his biography I got the impression he continued to have a chip on his shoulder regarding Grace’s decision not to marry him. By his own account of their relationship he was emotionally abusive towards her.

I clearly recalled seeing 2 photos of Grace Kelly toward the end of her life and was shocked by how much she had changed in what seemed like a couple or years. Her entire face was terribly bloated. Gone was all her beauty and she was barely recognizable. Her eyes were the most bloated part on her face. Something was very wrong.
