Very helpful Gus. I took mine apart and checked the switches for open circuit. By accident I turned over the front plate and the buttons fell out, revealing the back of the back arrow button had broke up. Put it back together without it for now, and works fine. I guess the collapsed back of the button was holding the switch down creating the open circuit.
hi Gustavo, I learned from your video today, alcohol was really great, but I found the DMM thing is wonderful. I tested all the buttons for shorts, all the ones that do not click are OK but the tester "beeped" on three buttons that are clicking, so I went on spraying them with alcohol directly to the button front where you push it and I blew them with my mouth ( I've not any blower here) tested it while the casing is off and it's working now. You provided the idea, defective buttons are frustrating, greetings from the Philippines..
Hey bro, this helped me. When this happens to the source/off button it causes the radio to function very oddly. It will randomly turn off, get stuck in demo mode, allow you to play CD's but no buttons work etc. A lot of people have the problem but there aren't many solutions. I ripped off the source button from the circuit and can use the remote for source/off
Hello Gus.... I have the Sony CDX-GT250MP... the only buttons that work are the source/on/off so I can turn the unit on and off and play the CD and tuner(but no buttons work to to change the station)....and the volume works. I took it apart and none of the buttons are stuck. Any thoughts on something else that might be causing the problem?
Had a similar problem, found out it was a button which was stuck. Bashing the button and blowing in it fixed it. Try looking for a button you often use, in my example the pauze/play button
My jvc sometimes got very got and couldn't play anymore. One night it stayed on even though i turned the car off until i disconnected the battery. It hasn't turned on since but ima inspect it using your methods

Failing tact switches fail closed. But they still click. Had several old TV's that changed channels and had a mind of their own

Well explained but it would have been nice to see you actually doing it. I realise you can't do both with your present setup.
