  • This video is a quick overview how i paint a Warhammer Blood Angels MK VI Space Marine Armor from the Horus Heresy. This Video also includes the steps for armor chipping and battle damage
    The Base paint job i show in this tutorial needs around 2h.

    1. Prime the Mini Black
    2. Base coat the mini by adding lighted and shadowed areas while stippling on thin layers of a mix 1:3 of Citadel - Mephiston Red and Water with a Artis Opus - Series D size M brush
    3. Add volumetric highlights by stippling thin layers of a mix 1:3 of Citadel - Evil Suns Scarlet with a Artis Opus - Series D size M brush
    4. Base coat the metal parts and the sub suit with Vallejo - Gunmetal Grey 77.720
    5. Base coat Golden parts with - Scale75 - Dwarven Gold
    6. Add volumetric highlights to the golden parts with Vallejo - Gold 77.725
    7. Base coat the Gun casing, sub suit and cables with Citadel - Abaddon Black
    8. Add Highlights to the sub suit and cables with Vallejo - Dark Grey 70.994
    9. Add smaller volumetric highlights to the sub suit and cables with Vallejo - Neutral Grey 70.992
    10. Prepare the surface of the armor with Micro sol and apply decals
    11. Cover all surfaces where decals where decals got applied with Vallejo Premium - Gloss Varnish 62.064
    12 Cover all armor parts with a mixture of 2:1:3:2 Citadel - Black Templar Contrast, Citadel - Gore-Grunta Fur Contrast, Citadel - Contrast Medium and water.
    13. Intense the Red armor color by adding edge highlights with Citadel - Evil Suns Scarlet
    14. Cut off a small piece of a sponge from a miniature blister and sponge on some armor chipping marks with Citadel - Evil Suns Scarlet
    15. Add recess shades to all deep recesses with a 1:1 mix of Citadel - Black Templar Contrast and water
    16. Use the recess shade mix of Citadel - Black Templar Contrast and water, to add scratch marks and little dots to the armor where chipping has been applied
    17. Finish the armor by adding some small reflection edge highlights with Citadel - Wills Rider Red
    18. Add final volumetric highlights to the metal parts with Citadel - Ironbreaker
    19. Paint glowing eyes ( • Glowing eyes on Space ... ), and plasma OSL ( • Space Marines Glowing ... ) and all the details you want!
    20. Apply a full coat of Vallejo Premium - Satin Varnish 62.063 with a brush or airbrush
    21. Done!

    How much do you thin your paints for the stippling?

      @@judsonbates1359 it always depends on the color. Mostly its like 30-50% paint 50-70% Water.

    I think it would look better if you used a matte varnish. It's probably because you used a satin varnish over a high gloss. It's left the model somewhere in between which is still too glossy.

      I like the shine on the Blood angels armor. I always use satin. To mate makes it in most of the cases to toy looking! The gloss happen because i was to hasty while applying the wash before the gloss varnish was dry. A Matt could fix that that's true. But im happy how it came out :)
