Blackskycraft Sunbros - gritty reverb + tremolo

- I've been itching to try something from Blackskycraft for ages, and so when this Sunbros appeared on ebay recently, I grabbed it without hesitation. After having spent some time with it, I completely understand the hype. This thing is awesome!
For those who don't know, Sunbros is a "Belton Brick" style reverb, with three kinds of tremolo that can be added to the wet signal, dry signal, or both. You can choose from ramp down, square-wave, or random waveform, for all kinds of choppy, gritty, ambient fun.
You get independent volume controls for the wet and dry signals, plus a master volume to manage the overall output level of the pedal, which is a really nice touch. There's also a dedicated tap tempo footswitch for on-the-fly adjustment of the tremolo rate, and a gain knob to push the reverb chip into overdrive and create some seriously blown-out, deafeningly destructive, fuzzy walls of sound!
I also love the compact form factor, making this thing really easy to fit onto a board. It's a pity it doesn't have top-jacks as well, but at least the power input is also on the side so the top edge can be placed nearer other pedals.
The one thing I really wish it had, was an expression pedal input, maybe with an internal selector switch to choose what parameter it controls. That would really open up the full potential of this pedal, imo! Ah well, maybe that will be a future feature they add to a V2? 🤔

Another great reveiw, of another great lesser known pedal.
You give these beautifully crafted, great sounding devices the exposure they deserve.
Great pairing at the end. I'm selling off a load of pedals, reclaiming space, I foolishly let both my phasers go! I have still got my 5th Dimension by Sonicake. Its got a couple of bit crusher type settings at the end of the dial, the Cry Bot being the best. It's got lots of various types of modulation algorithms, including phaser, all ropey sounding, but mixed with a bit of dry and drive, using series and parrallel patching, they give a lot of lo-fi wobble. There's not a lot of gear that has a bad sound, most things have at least one useful sound in them. It's fun finding and then using it, great for when the inspiration well runs dry.

That 5th Dimension is a pretty cool pedal, for sure! These micro pedals of their are my favourite, though. So far, I've only tried this Wave Crush, the Octaver, and the Sonic Ambience, but they have all really impressed me.

Sunbros is a great pedal... Wouldn't expect anything less from Blackskykraft.. Unusual Eas is the king of lo fi reverbs.. Hope you get it and do a demo...

where can you actually buy this stuff. i can never find when they are for sale or where they are for sale new
With boutique stuff like this, it's usually best to follow the builder on Instagram and/or subscribe to their newsletter if they have one. That way, you can get a heads-up when a new batch will be going up for sale, as well as the occasional B-stock unit.
For buying second-hand, create a saved search on Ebay and Reverb, so you'll get notifications when a certain pedal you're after is listed for sale.
