I know you preface this about being your own personal list of best books of music theory for bass, but do you have any suggestion for such a book that is useful for the non-professional player? I play for fun with friends every couple weeks kind of musician, I don't have tons of time to spend on my musical education. Learning to sight read treble clef or learning to play piano so I can understand the theory books is really right out of the question for me. Is there a music theory book notated in bass clef that you can recommend?

A good point to raise - out of the ones on my list, Joe Hubbard's Functional Harmonic Concepts is all in bass clef and aimed specifically at our instrument. Other than that, I hear lots of people say positive things about Ariane Capp's book, although I have no personal experience of it and what I've seen of her columns are not really my thing. The main areas to focus on are intervals and triads, as those are our bread and butter - you might be able to get the information online without specific theory books.

Can you recommend a book dedicated to BASS LINE?

Do you mean a book on how to write bass lines? Or a book of transcribed bass lines to read from?

@@FBT How to write bass lines?

@@黃楓-e5o I don't know of any books on how to write bass lines apart from books on walking bass. I've always done it by learning my favourite bass lines by ear and then using them as inspiration for writing other parts.
