No doubt what you are going through is the hardest thing a human being can go through. Truth is nothing that anyone can say will make it all better. We will all see our loved ones again, that I promise you. Keep yourself up and stay positive.

We gave him an offer of what we could afford, but told him to check with the other vendors, we figured they’d pay more. But he came back to us, so we felt good about the purchase.

I've had sellers back out of deals when I've offered them more money because all of a sudden they thought they had something way more valuable than they actually did. They looked around for other buyers and came back to me a month later for the higher price I offered. I told them I was no longer interested. 😏

Things I had to think about when making offers on collection back when I owned a store, where How long will it take me to sell it. What is it's potential for increasing in value if I can't sell it right away, can I afford the increase in back issue inventory. These factors always would determine what I paid, I offered someone $2 for a $20 book and they were angry because I offered such a low amount, until I walked over to one of my bins and pulled out 20 copies that were marked $5 each and had been there for over a year!
A dealer and a comic collector shouldn't CHEAT a person out of their collection. If Joe Smo who isn't hardly a collector at all get's a great deal, then good for him. If collector cheats a person, this is just more of a reason why people despise dealers. But then too, a dealer could be in dire straights due to the market and he may need a break to catch up.
