Too fast! You're assuming the watcher knows what the hell you're talking about as you flash through each button/icon. This barely taught me anything about how to GM on Roll20.
If the camera wouldn't be all over the place and would have a fixed view while highlighting the button would be MUCH easier! The camera is just running from A to B without even stopping for a second.
Slow down the video in your player @janp2800 trust me. I've had to this before too.(While, I'm not new to DMing / using previous-versions of R20-) I'm also new to GMing on this VTT as it-is now. If you have specific-questions though I might be able to help / answer them regarding it-- Especially, if it's itssus with uploading certain file-types or somthing... Been a problem I had to solve here recently, thankfully the site has awesome forum presence. So I I can't answer it, chances are SOMEONE can. Just ask, worst case scenario you don't get a good response, yeah-?
Tbf this doesn't say it's a beginners tutorial. I have ADHD and this teaching style worked out great for me. Not invalidating your opinion- Just calling out that maybe looking for a 'beginners guide' is the way to go.
I think it's recommended to watch the intro videos first, this just goes over all the GM specific tools for those probably already familiar with the interface
Thanks for the tutorial. I’ve used Roll20 as player but trying it first time as DM. It definitely seems more complicated especially when using a free adventure from D&D Beyond. I’m using a Mac computer and I wonder if Roll20 is better suited for PCs. I prefer in-person gaming but when players in different locations Roll20 makes it possible.
Danny, I like what you're doing here... is this a new series Roll20 is kicking off? I know for me, I would love to see how to take a marketplace purchase & use it effectively in Roll20. Like Tyranny of Dragons, or any product, how does it go from my purchase to actually using it to run a game. A sample session with showing how to use maps, or create maps would be amazing too. The layers you spoke about, could you in the future expand on that & why that is helpful to GM's. This was a fantastic quick overview, just wondering if more detailed videos might be on the way. Love Roll20 & very excited about the future with Demiplane. Keep up the great work.
Hi there! We've got a couple of tutorials that can help guide you through a couple of those steps (using a book purchase: ruclips.net/video/Ob0g4Z0tnW8/видео.htmlsi=oSH6BZix7WELmc2t), including ones for aligning maps to grids and setting up Dynamic Lighting! That said, we know that Roll20 has undergone some major changes since those were released, so we're updating our Tutorials to reflect those changes and provide the best possible information for our community. Stay tuned!
It would be nice if all the D&D 5E modules got upgrades. Van Richten’s still only has some blue player tokens usable, and it cannot be mixed with the Curse of Strahd module (unlike the Candlekeep Mysteries and Radiant Citadel modules, which *can* be added to other adventures).
A game in r20 can only have one module. Any game can, however, have any number of Add-ons regardless of the module. Of course, make sure the add-ons are either system agnostic or the same as the module.
hey guys when i drag my character sheets over onto the map, they do not come out looking like tokens but just a square image of the characters avatar, can i fix that so it comes out as the round based token?
This was too fast to follow and the mouse tracking made it almost impossible to see anything around what he was actually doing. I'll just search a diff vid i think. Def looking forward to giving this game a crack though
Thank you!! I just got into this and have watched dozens of videos, you were the ONLY ONE that spoke on the actual battle process!!
This is so not helpful for beginners to gming. I need a step by step for how to create a token and a npc, create or upload a map or use the pages

To clarify, hasn't changed that much, but I'm also returning to the platform after a decent absence / odd-intro.

Being able to drag those custom initiative rolls will be a good help. Thanks. :)
Oh I was just thinking about going back and trying to master roll20.
This is just what I needed. Thanks for the awesome video ❤

currently playing a one-shot with my buddies with this!, thank you all!
Why is this actually fire? imma count on you to revive my d&d campaign before i go away to another school
Is there a written tutorial on using Roll20 as a beginner DM that one could download?

Thanks so much for your rundown, many do-it, but i like your zoom-in look. It gives great emphasis and focus. Thank you again!
I would love to do that but I don't know how to get the maps 😢
also this is not an example of the free version, but instead the monthly paid option right?

The page is just extremely slow, it has a lot of lag when you try to move something
Neither did you explain how to upload the map background nor does the token mechanic work as promised.
Pretty good, but missing essential steps especially making tokens for players etc. Don't care about mods and scripts at this stage
just to be clear - the camera scrolling in this video is not good and doesn't help.
The audio keeps making me feel like someone is knocking on the wall to the left of me. Freaky!
🗿👍

Didn’t get any of the information in here. It is way too fast and broad to get any information.. too bad..
Way, way, way too fast.
