Also why are the tenors playing the same patterns as the snares 95% of the time? That makes no sense, musically or otherwise. You might as well have 16 snares and no tenors!
How can you say that “it makes no sense musically”, if you’re only listening to the battery and not the full ensemble? The writer knows what they were aiming for, which is why the parts were written this way. There isn’t a law that dictates how beats should be written or played, the creativity and unconventional methods of writers, show designers and performers across the globe, is why this activity is what it is.
