What makes this piece so sorrowful is the fact that Edgar didn't stay in Figaro through chance; he had rigged the toss with a double-headed coin, sacrificing his own dreams and freedom so that his brother, Sabin, could have his.
Crap, that's the difficult part about having a big party is there are so many scenes you can miss. I was happy that I managed to get the back story scene with edgar and sabin at the castle though. I feel like that's an easy one to miss.
wow knowing their story really strikes my heart as I have an older brother , whom sacrifices many things for me the younger brother. Edgar deeds to Sabin is quite relative to me...
The thing is that Edgar was already king of Figaro when he decided to toss that coin. He had the power to fulfill his brother wish and at the same time, maintained the illusion that it was decided by fate. The only way Sabin would obey him.
@@murielleladouceur6414 Erm, where did you get that idea from? Edgar and Sabin's father died literally an hour or two before the coin toss. Sabin was up on top of the tower in the first place because he was pissed everyone was trying to figure out the line of succession, since dad's last wish was that Figaro be split between both brothers. The coin toss occurred so Edgar could spare Sabin from that. He wasn't crowned king until after Sabin was long gone. Unless you're not talking literally, and instead meaning Edgar was already king in his heart/mind, in which case I apologize.
Ugh, I'm 35 now... it's been over 20 years since I first played this masterpiece. How quickly will the next 20 years pass? The passage of time is both sad and scary, especially because it moves me further away from those simple, beautiful days of my youth.
A Wise saying for you, that I've taken to heart. "Just because you get older doesn't mean you have to grow up." The two age groups who get away with the most stuff from society are the young folks, and the old folks. If you're young at heart you've really got the best of both worlds.
People who think too much in the past are depressed; whereas people who think too much about the future are anxious. People who focus on their breath and the touch of the ground are happy.
This whole scene/story is so gut-wrenching. I've played this countless times and didn't know every detail. Edgar's love for Sabin is the epitome of fraternal strength. I never knew the coin flip was rigged until one of the late playthroughs that I kept both Edgar and Sabin in the party for the Opera sequence. When Sabin realized that Edgar decided to take the weight of the throne and rigged the coin flip so Sabin could be free, I broke down. Beautiful.
It is amazing how much emotion, memory, and life can be captured with simply the passing of time, passion, and music. Still my favorite of the series and one of a kind even if those who experienced it with me have dwindled over the years. Long live the Returners!
Probably the best version of Coin Song I've found on RUclips so far! Love your Final Fantasy VI remastered versions, I look forward to hearing more of them :)
This theme has soo many meanings that it was hard to decipher at first. I remembered thinking to myself that sabin was not wanting to be a king but to go out and fight against those who dare attack figaro. I a sense edgar "set him free" with a flip of a coin toss knowing full well that was intention in the first place. the other aspect to this is the fact that edgar loves his brother so much that he would do anything for him. happiness is probably the one thing edgar wanted to see from sabin. the little shrimp has grown up to be a large crab and edgar...is mr lobster himself (the joke from the game). I miss this game soo much.
Things are not to be loved. Things exist to help us love each other. I love my brother with the FF franchise, because it is a thing we both loved to play so much, and I wish my brother to one day play this, and listen to this music. I'm not near close to King Edgar being a good brother, but I'm not gonna stop trying either. Please, play ff6 someday, don't need to be today or even this year. Just, play.
Awesome job on this one man. Just found this by accident and I do a little recording on my own so I know how much work this takes. I'm happy enough to be able to the intermediate version on piano. lol
I'm reading the comments here and just found out from them that there's a fucking scene I missed from this game because I never had Edgar and Sabin in the same party during the opera arc? I've played through this game so many times and I only got around to beating it once! Now I'm uncertain if I should wait for the remake or play through it again! 糞!!!
Sabin and Edgar don't have to be with you during the Opera house. You miss this by never entering Figaro Castle with the two of them. When you do enter Sabin leaves the party until you decide to leave the castle. Go to sleep inside the castle and walah! lol
Because good, memorable soundtracks have to be long! Despite the saying, you can't have too much of good stuff! (too little makes for craving and angry people =P).
I hope to hear this piece performed by a real orchestra. To compensate, maybe redo this a bit, make it sound more natural, work on the dynamics etc? And if you can maybe get a flautist to perform the flute part?
I know this is not related to this but 2019 Thanks for the officers from all the county who risk their lives to save others and thanks to the people who help the officers when they needed help but those who died with the law enforcement will always be remebered same with the people who help the cops out to keep the community safe from streets thanks for all the help for the people who helped the soldiers aka cops and thanks to the cops help others youll will always be remebered as the name the heros of war to protect and serve God bless #Salutes
I didn't appreciate this song or their story enough until I learned (as an adult) how hard it is to keep a family together.

There is no game that transmits so many feelings with only16 bits!!!

Blitzen Twiceborn I know the feel... That was one of the times hubby had to pause the game so I could finish weeping before we continued.
30 years... and this theme keeps being one of my favorites. It's so beautiful and moving.
Sabin gives a MANLY hug to Edgar with this theme
Very dreamy and sweet, still a beauty 10 years later
FFVI and Chrono Trigger are the only 16-bit games that make me want to mourn, whether it's joy or melancholy with only its soundtrack!!!

This is one of the first songs that I remember from the whole series ❤️ brings tears to my eyes.
Ooh, when that flute kicked in I was hooked. Once again, superb work!
A music box cuts right to my heart; always has.

This is probably one of my favorite tunes of all time, especially when played on the piano
I cant believe I am about to say this but, this song is more beautiful than original!
I love how you kept the lullaby/music box atmosphere and flute in this song. Perfectly well done!^^
My favorite piece from FFVI and I must say I find this absolutely gorgeous. Breathtaking. Definitely subscribing for more. Thank you.
The very special award
I am in love with this... Thank you for posting music from my favorite game in the entire world... So good.. Unbelievable!

Sabin and Edgar’s mother hidden theme
Are you still making ff6 themes remastered?
