I remember me and my brother running around inside the Zodys store, playing with toys, making a mess when we were little kids . The one in Riverside , California. Used to be across the street from the Galleria at Tyler. It was heaven during Christmas season..wishing we would get all the toys in there. Life was just so beautiful haha , the good ol days man!!
Man! That's the former Zody's on Sunset and Western in LA! I used to go there as a kid. I also used to go to the downtown store on Broadway. Good times back then man! I got my bad ass Atari 2600 for Christmas back in 81’at the downtown Zodys.
I don't recall the Zodys near me having an auto department to install these things. Unless you were handy, you had to have another shop install your new car stereo.
When I heard the jingle at the start, some brain cells REALLY woke up. I had COMPLETELY forgotten this jingle. I also recall the opening with Santa grabbing the bag, bolting into the store. A little sad recalling how simple things were -- so easy to be thrilled over something like a cassette/8-track car player. I was a 10th grader, Dec., '77. I went to the Zody's in City of Industry, Montebello, and Alhambra; all in Calif. Immense thanks for posting this nostalgic piece of happiness.
There's a Food 4 Less on South St. and Cherry in Long Beach and I remember that one used to be a Zody's. And there one in Torrance and several other buildings in Orange County that look just like the one in this video.
Zody's electronics departments were run by Ward's Electronics of Virginia (not Montgomery Wards). When Zody's liquidated, the electronics departments were spun off into their own stores. A little thing called Circuit City.
I remember going to Zody's as a little boy with older brother and friend's on bikes. We road from Grand and Park area to Indian Hill Mall Pomona. We went there to steal lead pencils because Zody's was closing down. Well the security caught us on camera and took us to the holding cell. I was like in the 4th grade and remember the officer telling us we were going to jail and probably wasn't going to see our parents again. I remember I was crying, but 9th grade brother and friends was laughing at me. The security had me handcuff and remember these exact words to my brother. "How could you be laughing, they said we were never going to see mom and dad again". I remember my older brother got his but beat bad by dad that night.
4th grader in the company of an adult telling him he will never see his parents again while in handcuffs??????? how many years do you think that security guard would get these days. I say at least 15.
I remember the one my grandmother Aunty cousin and mother would pile up I'm the chevy and go up there we had the best of times there!!!! R.I.P. Grandma! MIss Yah.
My first job was at Zody's in Huntington Beach, Ca. now a Home Depot. The minute I turned 21 they moved me from cashier to liquor, that was interesting. Customers would come in and have to tell me where the liquor was on the shelf they all looked the same to me.
Same here! There's now a Superior market there, where Zody's was. Used to be a Bob's Big Boy across the street (crossing Hacienda), with a BIG slide there. Those places were all taken down in the 80s. Beautiful times.

You lucky dog, I couldn't afford a 2600.
That's the North Hollywood Zody's in the commercial. The building still stands, was a chain Hardware store after Zody's closed.
Every sound in this commercial takes me back to childhood, a different world.

I'd give up all this tech today to jump into this commercial and relive these days.
I love these 1975 - 1977 Zodys Television commercials, Along with the Walgreens 2006 "The Town of Perfect".

oh... No wonder. our Zody's in Montebello became Circuit City, it's now Best Buy on Pomona Blvd by the 60 fwy.
I eventually got a job working at Radio Shack in the Montebello Town Center. i was a salesman at the CC in Northridge on Devonshire and Balboa too.

Who remembers White Front it was Topanga Canyon Boulevard.
In the mid-60s, my parents took me to the White Front in City of Commerce, Calif. Beautiful times.
My family shopped at the one on Valley Blvd in the City of Industry.
Same here! There's now a Superior market there, where Zody's was. Used to be a Bob's Big Boy across the street (crossing Hacienda), with a BIG slide there. Those places were all taken down in the 80s. Beautiful times.
I bought my first Car CD player at the Zodys
Wow i cant believe its fucking ZODYS. I used to go there as a kid. And Gemco and TwoGuys.. Wow !!!
Las Vegas store was on Lake Meade Bvd.
43 years later, I'm buying a CD player for my new car. Zody's would have had me covered for less than $50, I'll bet.
My pops used to take me the one on Whittier Blvd on East LA
No, it was on Pomona Blvd Where the Best Buy now is. Kmart & Two Guys was on Whittier Blvd.
@MrClassicAds1970s
