Thank you for the awesome advice!! I have a raised spot on my hip about 5 inches by 1 inch of raised swelling that is hard now. Not a big fan of this . I'm trying to not freak out since the surgery was only 5 weeks ago. What can I do other than massage to correct this. I wear my compressions atleast 22 hrs so I'm not skimping out on that

Hi Dr i have a question, how long i should wear my garmet on my chest i had lipo on my chest and my surgeon said 4-6 weeks, but i would like a second opinion from you, would it be reasonable if i wore the garmet for 4 weeks staright then after the 4 weeks wear it one day on- one day off/ or even cycle my garmet usage after the 4 weeks or would you advice to keep it on all 6 weeks straight?
Hello! You should always follow the instructions of your surgeon. However, in my practice, I have my male patients wear their compression garment for six weeks as much as possible taking it off only to shower. Good Luck!

Aaaaaaw, sorry, I feel for you. I am 15 days post OP today and I was told the drainage is more important than the procedure... well it's not but you know what I mean. In two weeks, because of the hardcore massage ritual (painful as eff - sowi) I already see some results. Anyway, bet you are still beautiful 😘

Bikini Vice hello! yes. take garments off for massage. Our protocol is to start massage 24-48 hrs post procedure and at least ten consecutive sessions.

Hi, i had my liposuction done on my double chin and it has been 4 months and there is absolutely no result. I contacted my surgeon and he says to wait until 6 months have passed. I just think it’s strange that after this long there is no result. I was wondering if you know what could cause it? Also my weight has been the same the whole time (152 lbs and I’m 5,6”)
Emma E hello! In order to better answer that question I suggest you evaluate your before and after based on side by side pictures. Critically evaluated the result with your surgeon. If you both agree there is absolutely no difference than an open honest conversation with your surgeon is warranted. Based on this discussion, you might consider a second or third opinion.

Hello. I had lipo about 15 months ago in the abdomen, back, and flanks. I initially lost weight but am back up 15 lbs. It seems like I have some uneven/rippling/bulging going on in the abdomen area. I think its bloating or swelling bc it looks good in the morning and gets worse as the day goes on. Is this normal? Is there something I can do to resolve this issue (other than lose the 15ish lbs)? How often do we need to massage?
Lymphatic massage is performed beginning at 1-2 days post liposuction. This is continued for 6-8 sessions followed then by manual massaging of the area that can be performed by the individual daily for 6-12 weeks to any areas that feel hard.
After 7 months of abdomen liposuction i still have some bumpynes..not so much like few weeks after lipo but its just not what i expect..especilly when im eating food with lot of salt..also i workout a lot now..will it ever go away?? :(
Dusan Lazic i suggest aggressively massaging the areas as it can take up to one year but these areas may still remain this way.

Ice48 hello! I do not perform Smart Lipo but the recommendations are similar. You should always follow the advice of the plastic surgeon that performs your procedure.

Eating slightly less calories post surgery- does that slow down healing process?
Eating healthy after surgery can allow you to lose weight after surgery, however you should not starve yourself of calories as you heal.
Adding lipolytic injections along with liposuction ..is it more effective Doc??

A Nguyen 6 weeks is typically sufficient for liposuction of abdomen and back

Ashley Altman . Great question! Liposuction and fat transfer to the buttocks can be performed in anyone 18 or older as long as they are in generally good medical health.

I literally just had my procedure should I start massaging myself right away and where? How do I find a person who does lymphatic massage I took a sneak peak under my garment and noticed a deep belly button is that normal? Can I start scar treatment right away to minimize scarring?
Hello Jasmin! In my practice I instruct my patients to begin self directed massage as well as refer to a lymphatic massage therapist. I also use a specific scar protocol in my practice. We also have various technologies to help improve the appearance of the scar. As far as your belly button etc is concerned you need to ask your plastic surgeon.
Will taking collagen help?
There are very minimal benefits to oral collagen.
I have a 40 inch waist at 5’7 in height but slim arms and slim legs (I am a male 42 years of age) My father has the same body type. How many inches around the waist can I realistically expect to lose with the lipo procedure? Thank you.
TheFame5000 Difficult question to answer in terms of an absolute number. The overall circumference also includes the abdominal girth. Ultimately aesthetically there certainly will be an improvement in visual contour.

Hi Sten! Great question. You can begin exercises whenever your body feels as though its ready. Typically for most people it is 1-2 weeks after liposuction.
How many treatments of lympatic massage would I need? Or does it depend on how my body is reacting after surgery? Also how long does it usually take for the scar incision to close? I read reviews where patients were recommended not to shower until the holes where the cannula was inserted must be closed before showering to prevent infection. I'm saving to get smart laser liposuction in Austin Texas.some of my co workers had smart laser liposuction & I'm going with their surgeon because I saw for myself they didn't have any lumping. :)
Winona Skurtu hello! you should always follow your surgeon’s recommendations. In our practice 2 days before showering, 12 sessions more or less depending on situation for lymphatic massage.

Connie Gullo The hypermetabolic state is a direct result of the increased caloric requirement needed to heal after surgery. This increases your basal metabolic rate and as a result you burn more calories. If you carefully monitor your caloric intake you will lose weight.

life losing weight if you are not at your ideal body weight will decrease visceral fat therefore improving your tummy tuck results.
lipo revs up matabolism..? ..not ! you will be sluggish and gain weight elsewhere and look very bloated from lying around for weeks..Your body is starving for energy ??? right because you need exercise.. Should mention WHEN real exercise can begin.
May J your body is trying to heal so you need more energy. so if you adjust your diet and be in a caloric deficit your body will use fat stores (pretty sure that’s what the dr meant). You can usually start exercise after 6 weeks, really have to check with your surgeon and take their advice though as they all have their own opinion and methods
May J exercise can begin as soon as a patient can tolerate. Proper diet and exercise after liposuction can lead to amazing results. As the expert in this field I have seen this first hand in many of my patients.
You don't lie around not even for a day with the lipo they have now you can be awake during the procedure and even drive yourself home
Exercise can begin as you can tolerate it. Most people can tolerate exercise approximately 1 week after their procedure.
