Honestly. It’s such basic functionality yet. Don’t get me wrong, love the video and the very well executed workaround, but it’s a workaround. Fwiw I have an iPhone as well and i sometimes wish I could customize it like my old nexus phones

I love this stuff and now with an iPhone 15 pro max,I jumped all over this. My biggest problem is that the QR code didn’t work ( I know how to use the ) and the link you said was in the description? What? What link.
Considering this process can be used for other wallpapers, the QR code was for one widget with no explanation on of i had other wallpaper and icons.
I worked through the video and crashed at that point.
Love what the outcome is, but didn’t understand why the QR code didn’t work, where the link was and what if the widget wasn’t your lake theme. Can you help me out?

Looks amazing, I always follow your guides, buy all your assets and do these home screen setups, just spent 6 months with the S23 Ultra and have just got a 15 pro max, whilst this looks awesome as usual, I’m a bit disappointed with the widgy animations you see before opening an app, was there notification badges last year?
Anyways can I just use your setup from last year, I think you used some icon apps, and the shortcut app, but if I remember correctly, we didn’t have these widgy animations to deal with, it was the Dynamic Island that hid the animations, so yeah will last years setup work on ios17?

I don't know what aspect ratio you have for this video, but watching this on my iPad has huge black boxes at the top and bottom. Just cannot see enough of the video.
Whenever i import the weather & icons widget to Widgy, it gives me an older wallpaper from one of your previous themes.. Anything i can do to fix that? also no matter what i do i can't get rid of the grey dockbar, only is hidden during the dark mode focus, whenever i turn off the dark mode focus, it will appear again.. please help
The clear space widget does only take on the Dark mode screenshot so it only works when I turn on the dark mode

My clear spaces isn’t switching at all same thing with the Widgy one, I switch between focus modes and only the background changes not the widgets

How hard would it be to add one or two more pages the same way, but without the weather showing and an extra row of icons? I tried it but somehow botched it 🤦🏻♂️
18:03 I found a solution to that shadow ios puts under labels on light wallpapers. In accessibility there is a setting called reduce transparency, if you connect that to an abbreviation when pressing three times the power button it will switch on the reduced transparency, taking away the shadow, and it should also leave it disabled when you turn it back off. Give it a try and lemme know!

I've got my widget the way I want it, but I can't import it onto my home screen. When I tap my widget space which takes me to the Widgy app and I see the widget under "imported", I click on it and instead of taking me to a screen like in 15:45, it takes me to a preview of the widget with four options underneath: “edit widget”, “edit as a copy”, “start in PiP mode” and “share widget”. I thought I followed the instructions step-by-step, so I don't know what I've done wrong 😟 if someone could help, it would be greatly appreciated

Did you try Settings -> Accessibility -> Display & Text Size -> Reduce Transparency -> ON.

I found a quick (but not permanent) solution to the label shadow glitch. Tap as if you were about to add a widget and simply slide the clear space widget from top to center a couple of times until the shadow of both widgets disappears. When you've got it right, click done. It will remain this way until the phone switches to dark mode. You'll have to repeat this process when going back to light mode... better than nothing. 🤷♂

For some reason, using the widgy link (.widgy file) > click edit widgy > immediately brings me to the icons/app editing page, skipping the option to assign light and dark background wallpaper. New to widgy and customisation on iPhones - any idea what could be causing this issue?
Possibly because you’ve already used Widgy before, and have setup transparent wallpapers already? Either way, you can change them afterwards under the Manage tab.
@SamBeckman, it looks like Widgy has updated their app so their name no longer appears below the widget on the home screen 🎉

Widgy is amazing, love that it allows you to create an Android style homescreen instead of having to settle for the boring uncustomizeable ios homescreen.
It’s not uncustomisable though. In fact if you use app shortcuts you can open apps without the jump to a 3rd party app.
I purchased your Wallpapers and icons i love them. But how did you hide your Dock from Home Screen?
If you follow the steps in the video, the dock background should be hidden no problem. But you have to remove any apps from the dock yourself 👍🏻

Just figured it out for anyone in the future seeing this. Make sure you are on light mode theme and not on dark , if the dock bar isnt hiding for you

Great guide, Sam. If I had an iphone, the delay in opening apps this way would drive me mad before long. It's weird iOS is still so restrictive.
It’s not iOS being restrictive because if you use app shortcuts it doesn’t do that. So you can still customise your Home Screen you just need to do it without using the Widgy app. Hopefully Widgy will update the way they open apps as it’s possible to do it way smoother on iOS.
@@IronsWHUno, it is iOS being restrictive. I’m an iPhone user and I have to admit it’s true. Even with shortcuts, custom icons still have a banner/dynamic island pop up with “custom” icons
@@Thecheezgod1 so, how is the little animation in the island a bad thing. It’s barely noticeable.
@@IronsWHU guess it comes down to opinion. The dynamic island notification is much less intrusive for sure. But having a notification pop every time you open an app is distracting to me
I’ll agree the banner on non island models is a little distracting. But the little island animation is fine to me.

You might have the wrong system theme applied (i.e. light/dark)? Or check you have the Reduce Transparency toggle disabled in settings.

Does this only work for iOS17? I have reduce transparency off and a solid black wallpaper and the dock sticks out like a sore thumb!
It doesn't work with solid black wallpapers. You've gotta get the right colour code - it's more of a dark grey.@@Gerlaffy

Great work - but it blows my mind how... complex and convoluted this process is. My iPhone is still on iOS 14.3 for Jailbreak - and 2 very simple tweaks can accomplish all of this in a fraction of the time with much easier UX. Apple remains so anti-consumer when it comes to customizing iphones.

That is why i love Android more. Too simple with Nova Launcher to do anything, better, more beautiful... On my iPhone, is too much complicated everything, and i am limited to alot of stuff i can't do.

This is the reason why I dont want an iPhone its too complicated to do all of this work with my Google Pixel 8 Pro i can just placed all my apps in the order I want without doing all of this work
The dark mode version was very beautiful, but the normal version was very polluted, you can barely see the icons. I would definitely change the wallpaper.
This is why I wish Apple would just allow us to use more customization on our own. Give us true transparency for icons/widgets already and make it to where it doesn’t switch to an app (like widgy) and then launch the actual thing you want to launch. Really annoying that when they launch these capabilities they are extremely half assed to the point I don’t even want to use them that much. If we all came together and wrote feedbacks of it, they might change though.

I switched back to an iPhone after a few years on the Android side and have come to the conclusion that iPhone customization isn't worth it. Why Apple won't pull it's head out of the sand and allow users to easily customize their phones is beyond me. Even with this tutorial, I spent several hours trying to do this. And only then finding out there's no way to connect the phone, settings, camera, or RUclips Music apps to the icons in Widgy??? Those should be standard options. Unlike Apple's iconic Mac commercial, iPhones are stuck in the sea of sameness. I'll just keep an Android phone on hand to support my customization desires.
