- CNN's Poppy Harlow returns to Michigan, which helped Trump claim the presidency one year ago. Voters here said they wanted the president to reform health care, repeal NAFTA, and build a border wall. Now, they say they don't blame Trump for delays in his agenda, and wish Congress would get out of his way.
I can never understand why can't journalists just shove their personal politics and opinions aside for a minute and just let the interviewee speak without showing the sort of micro-aggression line of questioning seen at 1:28; 5:30. They are worst than "leading questions" because they purport not only to obtain a certain answer but also to guilt-trip, shame or humiliate the interviewee preferably into submission. It is fine if your purpose is to persuade (in fact coerce) but not when the object is to listen and report their opinions as they are. Most lecturers do a rather good job at maintaining an impartial front not considering the occasional slips every now and then (they don't realise it but we see it). Lawyers represent clients whose moral views differ from the lawyers themselves. Doctors serve patients without commenting too much on their personal lifestyle choices. Why can't journalists do the same?! You are a journalist, not an advocate or talk show host.
It's not just trump, as i am in Michigan i can say some of it is state and local that is screwing the people in this state.
Blame John McCain for no overhaul of healthcare. He made an effort to come to DC just to vote no at 2am just so he could stick it to Trump. Even though he campaigned on repealing it.

Universal health care is not successful. Talk to the people who live in those countries.
What bugs me about "regulation" is that it mostly just results in a bunch of paperwork, disclosures, waivers, and terms & conditions that you have to sign, and once you do, the regulations are voided and it's everything back to what it used to be. Then all the politicians take exaggerated credit for cracking down on this and that and everything when, in effect, all they did is work up a lot turmoil with no net change in the end.
I was a medical secretary but my job was being lost by modern technology. Bosses got PC's, cell phones, payroll and medical transcription was done by computer programs. And so many people were no longer necessary.
It isn't regulations keeping you from manufacturing your cabinets in the u.s.. it's the cheap, low cost of the Chinese cabinets that keep you selling crap so you can better line your pockets.
Regulations in America make it far more expensive such as what materials can be used how the factor is managed and how they are sold.
The reason why Chinese products are cheaper is because regulations and taxation keep the price of American goods high. Even Japanese goods were wages can be higher are cheaper.
I know 'bighands69' won't likely read this. But, for anyone who thinks regulations are bad, contact me when your child gets led poisoning from the materials China makes their products with, or when the cabinet guy gets sued because of the China made cabinets and paint that is poisonous and kills children who touch them and put their hands/fingers in their mouths, or when a worker gets chemical burns in the warehouse and sues you because they didn't have any chemical washing stations anywhere. *Now these are examples of how regulations protect consumers and employees. Regulations are mostly safety related. They are in place because many, if not most, employers and businessmen wouldn't spend the money to protect their employees, or purchase quality and safer products to sell to consumers. Still don't like the regulations ???

China had to shut its factories down during the weeks of the Beijing Olympics because of the pollution because it looks like a permanent fog of pollution, is that what you want for the US.

As a citizen of our state Capitol Lansing, I don't blame trump i blame our Democrat governor and the mismanagement of tax dollars going into local city government. To governor where is my school voucher money you promised, to local where is money going? I want new roads like the rest of Michigan, sidewalks, and the bridges repaired.
This country hasn't seen an increase in wages since the 80's. It didn't change when corporate taxes were cut under Bush and it didn't change when we had a federal surplus under Clinton. That sad part about talking points us that they're absorbed by the poorly educated. They are the ones that think that a booming stock market has something to do with wages and the overall economy. Trump continues to talk about the stock market as if they are directly related. Your wages have no real correlation between the two. Except that if stocks are down significantly, you may get a pay cut but, if stocks are up you're not getting a pay increase.

I myself would have chosen Obama in 2008 because of his promise to close Gantanamo Bay, but even though he had majorities in both houses, he just didn't do it.
