    One tip for the cover/ o-ring install is to twist and push at the same time. Helps keep the seal from binding in the bore and prevents any chafing. Thanks for sharing this, very much appreciate your time!

    I need to swap out my transmission in my 1988 Corvette I heard that a 700r4 will work I just wanted to see if anyone knows anything about that? Because the transmission in my car is not a 700r4 I think it's a 4L60 maybe. But anyway will that work do I need other parts to make it work or will my old parts works I think I heard it might need a longer drive shaft or something. I'm not sure can anyone help? I tried googling it but the information sounded kind of vague to me like there might be a bunch of extra work involved.

    Definitely the most difficult part of the job. (Snap ring) I installed mine with the tranny on the truck. Pry bar is the easiest way to get the snap ring in, Once you seat the cover properly, apply pressure on the center and it should give you room to install a snap ring.

    • @jaysgarage3616
      @jaysgarage3616  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for the reply. This is more of a personal preference and many have had different results. If you are happy with your truck you could leave it and if you want one it would make your shifts a little quicker , If I was doing a rebuild I would do it. If looking from a performance standpoint I would also add it there. Hope this helps.

    Great vid. At the very end, I didn't hear you say "forward piston" and I forgot it.
    Luckily I reviewed another vid (ruclips.net/video/pkQQYzQ9x0E/видео.html) to see how to use the pry bar and he showed the "forward piston" which I had left out.
    Now I can't get the cover off without destroying the blue o ring. Wow, I was able to pull the o-ring out intact!! All done.
    putting it the lock ring at 9:30 was easy for you, murder for me. Got hurt. Finally used a big flathead to hold in the first bit, then pushed with both tips of some needle nose pliers.
