    I don't understand the appeal of this. I love harmonies but without male voices, it feels like its missing something and gets on my nerves. I want to like it.

      There is a bass section that is quite obvious to my ear. I personally much prefer female barbershop more than the male version. I think it sounds divine and easy on the eyes too! In fact, when I heard a male barbershop quartet, I had that same irritated feeling that you describe even though I wanted to like it since I figured the male version was the “original”… So I guess everyone has their own tastes this is not for everybody.
