there is also another variety of millets. Pearl millets, which you can harvest within 2 months if your soil is rich and its hot. These are fantastic for chickens. in India we give these to chicks - along with fly larvae. Also, you can use the seed heads as broom if you collect couple of them to arrange together in form of bouquet.
I can testify that it's easy to grow. Apparently I have some proso growing in my front yard area where I just threw uneaten millet seeds from my own birds out into the yard for wild birds to finish off. Some landed in the soil in front of my place and sowed itself into the soil. It's still green. I wasn't sure if I could manually harvest it while it was green, so that's why I'm here on YT. I accidentally grew the stuff. It's organic. I may as well harvest it when I can. But if temps get below freezing, will it just die and be wasted?
There are many millets in the world. Sorghum is sometimes called "great millet", proso millet is fast maturing. Finger millet looks absolutely bizarre. I have experience with none of these, but I intend to grow sorghum.
Most people I hear speak of "chaff" in the sense of grain duff use the same A as in CAT, PACK, and GANDER, not as in CAKE, PASTE, and TAME. Your pronunciation can be misinterpreted as "chafe", which is a verb, and a noun deriving from the verb meaning heat or injury caused by friction.
Millet is very good for human consumption For more information you can refer Dr. Khader Wali millet man of India in Utube
We use it often for ourselves as well as our animals.

I’m growing millet for my hamster because she loves it
Millet is also very good to eat for the digestive tract.
I am doing an experiment. I parted the root and replanted it. Will let you know what happens 😅

I love your steel grinder with a good handle. What kind is it, and where did you get it?
I have no idea. LOL I get a lot at thrift stores or on Amazon.

Oh. Ok
Deb? From Good Eats?
Nope. She passed away about 5 years ago.
How much quantity can you harvest from 1 pot
Depends on the size of the pot. Not much. You need to plant a huge amount to get a little, like most grains.
This is like crack for parrots
And chickens!
Birds and harvester ants love these seeds ☝️
Our biggest threat is deer eating the plants before they even seed. So we had to put in very high fences.
What type of millet? The one I have are small and brown in color compared to these larger yellow colored millets you have 🤔
This was Proso Millet. We also plant German Millet.
I heard it is good for horses
I’m sure they’d like it. We intend to bale some this year.
