The glasses feature real-time speech-to-text capabilities, making them particularly useful for individuals with hearing impairments. The COO of Vuzix explained how the glasses enable seamless communication, including language translation during interviews, enhancing accessibility for users worldwide.
The Vuzix Z100 employs micro LED projector technology with a resolution of 640x480 and a peak brightness of 2,000 nits. The device boasts a two-day battery life on a single charge. The glasses serve as a heads-up display for AI applications on smartphones, showcasing functionalities like golf tracking, demonstrating the versatility of the technology beyond accessibility features.
Vuzix executives discussed their market strategy, targeting developers, enterprises, and prosumers with an initial price point of $779.99. They expressed their intention to sell millions of units and emphasized the glasses' role in industrial and enterprise applications, catering to diverse needs, including language barriers on assembly lines.
The company's portfolio includes a range of glasses for industrial and enterprise customers, such as the monocular heads-up display M4000 and the color version Blade. Vuzix also unveiled an extension of its OEM platform, the Ultralite S, which introduces an alternative form factor and an "Incognito" technology that conceals displayed content from onlookers.
Vuzix's manufacturing facility in Rochester, New York, produces approximately a million waveguides per year. The executives hinted at the competition with other tech giants, playfully suggesting that some "fruit companies" might be feeling the pressure.
The Ultralite S, showcased at CES, maintains the same protection system as other models but comes in a different, sportier form factor. The Incognito technology eliminates the visible glow of the display, enhancing privacy and security for consumer-oriented applications.
The discussion turned to potential partnerships, with Vuzix presenting its glasses as a platform for various collaborators. The executives hinted at the possibility of customizable configurations, such as removable shades or transition lenses, catering to different user preferences and environments.
Despite some pre-show announcements from other companies, Vuzix remains optimistic about the growing interest in wearable technology, emphasizing the importance of app development for the success of such devices. The prospect of full-color displays was teased, but specifics about the timeline were kept under wraps, adding an element of anticipation to Vuzix's CES 2024 presentation.

The Translation feature will fall flat straightaway unless you pull your phone out each time to use this. Your phone's mic can't hear much when it's in your pocket...

I think they might have directional mic on the smart glasses itself... they could have that, anyway.. if possible to capture only the sound from the person speaking in front of you.. so it could hopefully translate reliably even in some noisy environment. I am just guessing here what it is they actually support..

@@charbax They could possibly do that as a customisation, but for directional, they would require 3 mics for this to be accurate.

Why is your camera so shaky every time? Try to keep camera steady.

I had to jungle 2 microphones for 3 people, I should've filmed with my other camera that can support 3 microphones somehow, and stay more steady, my DJI Pocket 3 I'll use next time! Though I still wait for amazon to deliver my second wireless mic..
