The big BOO at the end is clearly for the director. With the same effort, he could have created something beautiful, couldn't he?

EVELYN HERLITZIUS IS THE BEST DRAMATIC SOPRANO AT THE MOMENT!

This performance is stunning and bonechilling. It's as if Salome is going through a "rebirthing" procedure, and trying to reverse Jochanaan's death and return to an innocent childhood. The ending is also ambiguous. Normally, I don't care for Eurotrash productions, but this snippet is intriguing.

Horse shit! They didn't serve the material, they served their own vanity with this finale.

A shame someone cannot post an excerpt from her performance in Stuttgart in 1999 of Shostakovich's Lady Macbeth. She WAS Ekatarina.

On which part of this awesome opera was Petula Clark's Romeo based ? Thanks in advance.

@IIZarathustraII Das ist generell mein Tipp für eine verhunzte Operninszenierung! Die Musik ist immer gleich schön.

Okay. I'm missing something. Why is Salome covered up??? Why does the set look like something out of the 80's movie Tron? And last but definitely not least, why does he step away from Salome and not actually kill her? I booed too! lol This was a mess.

Is this some kind of reference to the burqas or something like that? Definitely, I didn't understand what's the point in this production. But Herlitzius is very good. A beautiful and expressive voice.

Okay, I like artsy-fartsy as much as most folks, but I don't PAY $200 for a ticket to see a great singer sing the finale of my favorite opera from under a goddamn blanket. How do you know she's even under there and they're not playing an autotune recording from backstage? BOOOOO! is the only response. (She's very good, though, but covering up Salome and not having her killed at the end is as WRONG as the recent "Elektra" at the Met where at the end she just sits down outside the palace; no dancing or drama.

What is the point of this production? The listener gets no sense of what's actually going on...they were right to boo it. I mean, Salome is supposed to be killed in the end!
