- Police in Armenia have detained more than 300 protesters in the capital Yeravan, following widespread protests against the Prime Minister.
Critics are outraged by a recent decision, to cede control of four villages to Azerbaijan.
It's part of a wider peace deal to end years of fighting and land disputes with Baku.
But many say, he's betraying the country.

Azerbaijan is a fake country that has only existed for 100 years, created by Turks and Russians. Your ancestors were nomads, not kings. Stalin relocated your people to Artsakh to make the Soviet Union stronger, but that doesn't mean it's yours. No soul of Azerbaijan ever lived there and walked around the old Armenian churches and monasteries. I think you should read real books and articles about history. You can't just make up your own story. Your government's actions aren't just about Artsakh but about denying Armenian identity and culture.

Armenia was a small dot in Turks' Empire maps. If you check Seljuk Empire, Eldiguzids, and Safaviahs or Ottoman you will see that even India was controlled by Turks for 1000 years. Armenia can't be our enemy when we check our history. Armenians lived 1000 years with Turkish without any problem but when the Tsar supported them Armenia changed face to Turks. It’s wrong. The two countries are exchanging the lands that have been under each other’s control when the war ended in 1994. Th e current process is using the 1991 map of independence from the Soviet Union. So, the issue is that Armenia started giving “their” land first. None of Armenia’s sovereign territories per 1991 independence map has been given to Azerbaijan. Per this process Armenia has also returned lands of 25 acres from Azerbaijan for now. If the process continues peacefully, Azeris must leave the invaded territories that they currently occupy in Armenia.

@@tweenw Nagorno-Karabagh has been an Armenian land populated by indigenous Armenians for millennia until the last year of 2023. How did this land become a conflict zone between Armenians and Azeris? The answer lies in the 'divide and conquer' strategies that big powers use when it comes to establishing their sphere of regonal influence and power on smaller states. As such, in 1923 when Armenians were forced to become part of Bolshevik Russia, Stalin, in appeasement to newly-formed Turkey and Azerbaijan, gave Karabagh to Azeris, who were claiming that this land belonged to their "Christian Albanian ancestors who had converted to Islam later on." A few things to note here:
1. No Christian Albanian converted to Islam. They use this lie and myth to somehow justify why there are 100s of thousands years old churches and monastries in a 'Muslim Indigenous land."
2. Even when Stalin gave Karabagh to Azerbaijan, it was an autonomous region--governed by its own laws and administration. This way, Stalin tried to 'calm down' the rightful and justified outcry of the Armenians whose lands were being stolen from them.
3. Karabagh, aka Artsakh in Armenian, remained under the Soviet Azerbaijan territory as an AUTONOMOUS region. However, when the soviet union was collapsing, the Armenians, by their rightful Soviet constitutional guarantees, passed a referendum to become an independent state. In Soviet constitution, both the soviet republics and the autonomous regions can become independent if they passed a referendum. So, Armenians did it and it passed. However, Azerbaijan would not recognize it and went to war.
4. You may ask, why the Armenians did not vote to be independent before the collapse of the Soviet union and how come the international community did not recognize Artsakh independence? In short, before the collapse no one could have gone against the Red Army and the KGB, and the dictatorship of the Soviet leaders. They would simply be crushed. In fact, the red army still tried to do that in Artsakh by helping azeris with the Baku pogroms and massacres in some Artsakh villages, but they failed as the union was collapsing. Second, when the soviets collapsed, its "constitutional" weight was not considered any legal source for the international community to recognize Artsakh even though they should have since all the other republics of the soviet union became independent legal states, including Azerbaijan, Armenia, Ukraine, Georgia, etc, exactly due to this constitutional right. So why they didn't recognize it and have been appeasing Azerbaijan? OIL. That is the shortest answer. Hope this helped.

It was not an embarrassment but a traumatic ethnic cleansing Al Jazeera.
Artsakh was majority Armenian as it has been for centuries. The minority Azeris were driven out as the Turks and Azeris like to do to Armenian for centuries. When the tables turned, albeit less violent as when they did the same to Armenian it was all of a sudden an issue. When Azerbaijan refused peace and chose to conquer with support of Israel and Turkey, the whole Artsakh they displaced the indigenous population and ethnically cleansed the region of its original Armenian population. Armenian fled because they knew they would be oppressed and possibly massacred of they stayed behind. Azeris who are not even originally from Artsakh or from the Azeris parts called Karabag have settled the area with little ties to the land basically stole Artsakh.

Come to reality. This land belongs to Azerbaijan according to international recognizes border. Armenia was the occupier.

He announced the lies of Armenian lobbies on Armenian Genocide (the fact it was spread by Soviet Union), he openly wants peace between Azerbaijan so Armenia can resume an open border, tourism and trade relations in the Caucasus's. The majority of the population does not want the current leaders of the protests to come to power-they are the ones whom the public has long rejected. Yes, we would have loved if Azeris first left Armenian territories they invaded in 2021 and 2022 before this process of exchanging each others territories would start, but the delay is beneficial to Azeris and Russians who want to engage Armenia in war, invade and occupy more of sovereign Armenia’s territory with an excuse that there is no border established between them officially yet. The current protests are run by those who serve Russia’s interests and that is why the majority of the people do not approve of them. Armenia has recovered more than 25 acres of its own territories due to this process so far. The current PM still enjoys the approval of most of the voters.

Pashinyan gave back territories which are not belong to Armenia, it is Az. villages. Why are these people protesting? These protests show how Armenian people do not want peace, the want a war and support occupation.
So, when Azerbaijan fights and wins a war, they get that land, right? So in the past, Armenia fought and got their land back. Why is it OK for Azerbaijan to keep the land they fight for but Armenians are not allowed to keep the land they won back by fighting. Azerbaijan using its military to dominate has created a protocol. Stop the protocol = stop the complaints = Stop the fighting. No double standards.
