Great review mate. The fact I can have one of these scopes and have setting saved for say an air rifle, 17 hmr and 243 is a game changer meaning one scope fits all. And the ballistic calculator is a cracking addition. Defo on my shopping list.
@alexanderrankin4086 well the Hik Micro 4k needs an external Iar that it doesn't come with and that could be an extra £100 depending on what you want it could be £200 or £250 just for the torch it also doesn't have thermal back up. Nv wise the DNT has it for me with the built in IR that is genuinely very good, the thermal being there too makes a lot of sense for keeping target acquisition, daytime though the Hik has it over the TNC but not the Zulus. Weight is lighter for the TNC but even though the Hik is heavier it is more like a traditional scope so better balanced but with needing that extra IR mainly I would say the DNT TNC for the money is better value
Great video as always! I have one to switch between my .243 and .308, the difference at last light is literally day and night. I don’t think i could get rid of my day scope quite yet though.
Actually been told that Macleods is dropping the price of the old Alpex considerably . I wouldn't be afraid of the tech it is very simple easy stuff to be honest any problems am always here for free advice
Interesting... I am between a rock and a hard place making a decision here... I use a 22-250 for my fox control, I also have a .243 and .308, my .308 has a S&B 8x56, my .243 is naked at the moment... but here is the crunch, I have a brand new S&B 3-12x50 30mm, never fitted.... Do I go ahead and fit this to my 22-250 for fox control or sell it on and replace with the Alpex 4K LRF bearing in mind that if I get the rails correct I could swop between all my centerfire rifles if I wanted to... all my permissions have the odd stroppy neighbour and I dislike "lamping" these days as it does draw attention from some that just want to stick their nose in. Of course it does mean I need a set of diginal bino's as well to avoid using a lamp. 🤷♀
Well Gordy hahaha your asking the million pound question. Does it completely substitute clear glass it can but nothing will ever beat clear glass for day shooting. Bare in mind for Night work you will need to get an additional IR for the Alpex. If this is a problem look at the DNT stuff I have done videos on them also. Your very large comment deserves just as large a reply lol The Alpex will certainly work well on all of them and it is a good scope. Have fun whatever you choose
@@FieldsportsScotland Me - waffle? Never....! That settles it, i'm getting one, the .22-250 will only be used at night and the IR is so cheap it makes no odds, now to find a set of night vision bino;s I can afford, I have decent enough daylight binos but i will check out night vision ones. Thanks very much for your reply... Gordon
Sorry it's just that it's down to personal preference and usage . The Alpex is fantastic all round but as standard doesn't come with an IR and is quite heavy so you might not want to use it on an air rifle for example but perfect on a centrefire
@V-oo1xs that link will give you some information . Along with usage of digital day/night scoped being allowed to be used there is also no out of season for male deer and there has been a decreased minimum bullet weight from 100gr to 80gr for big deer to accommodate the use of non lead monolithic bullets
Thank you . Got an Arken Optic 3-12 on test just now . Keep up to date with weekly podcast if you can , this week as requested it's on the brutal honesty on why it's so hard to get into professional deer stalking and the way things are going. From Adhoc Outfitters to Contractors

How do you switch between rifles? After switching you always need to rezero right? Or do you use special mounts?
Would like to buy one for my .22 LR but the tech scares me as i am a dinosaur when it comes to this, McLeod is a good store

@gordy1961 lol I never accused you if waffling. Look at the Habroks but I prefer monocular over binos reason because it's easier to use a monocular

Can you tell me the intro song please?
It's a song we made up , one of my videos has the full version on it
Is that the short saddle or long saddle mount?
As in the American defence mount? Long 0moa mount
Good review I've watched a lot of your films but could watch a lot more get them up there😂cheers
