I was watching and thinking the guy in front of you had a Bianchi Pinella too. I finally caught on. Lol. These senior moments....oy, veh.
Regardless of whether it is steel or carbon, that's a pretty hot pace for a bunch of Saturday AM riders! It is great to see that there is such an active, diverse cycling scene in Florida, and that many are older riders who are in great shape! Sure beats golf!
Couldn't agree more!
You are rock solid on the bike. That is an art in of itself. No distractions, no wobbling in your lane
Thank you Michael👍🏾
I love these steel frame bike videos! You got my gears in my head churning! Keep them coming please!
Thanks, will do!
geez those roads are soooo flat!
Nothing but...
flatter than a pan cake!!
Great vid! Riding on steel and Campagnolo is always in style, no matter what speed! Thanks for sharing.
Would love to see more with a data overlay showing speed and other metrics. It helps judge the intensity of the ride and give context to the video. Nice work!
Thanks for that suggestion👍🏾
I play this video in the background and take a nap. The sounds of the wind, freewheeling, and ambient noises are so relaxing lol. Cycling ASMR lol.
I am going to have to try that👍🏾
That's a solid group-it's nice when the culture is there for rides like this.
5 elements I see for maximizing speed and being able to hang in a group ride with a given physical capacity in this order: 1) Pack riding/drafting ability (which can be enhanced by being able to trust riders around you) 2) Body position 3) Tires-quality at proper pressure 4) Wheels (some seriously deep section wheels in this group-mustn't be that windy near Miami) 5) Frame 5.5) Bright colors are faster than all matte monochrome- Benotto cellotape that one guy had on his bars really pops.
Looking forward to the weather breaking at my latitiude to enjoy the open roads more like you all are doing.
Hi Kenneth! Well thought out... thanks for sharing👍🏾
Unless it’s a hilly area, I think the frame material doesn’t matter that much. Even on a hill climb, gear ratio would be much more important.
Great point!
Exactly. Why would a steel bike not be able to keep up on such a flat ride? I would climb more than that during the first 10 minutes of my ride 😂
This was very enjoyable, I was watching the cadences of the different riders. I would like to see more like this with some commentary. Safety would be my concern at those speeds, and some of the riders were getting close, with fist bumps. I would be nervous to go that fast and close. Be interesting to hear your thoughts along with the footage, of what is happening.
Thanks Jess! Will definitely incorporate some commentary next time👍🏾
Safety would be my concern, no hand signals. Some vocal commands would be nice
21:11 🚴♂️ 💨.. lots of gaps , laboring and drops! Awesome vid! Keep it coming 💪
Thanks James👍🏾
Luis your Bianchi is still one of my favorites in your collection of bikes. Glad to see it your videos putting hard miles on it in amongst all those carbons, discs and e-shifters.
Man everyone has some expensive bikes on that ride. The cheapest one I saw was the allez and at the end a giant. Everyone rolling in sworks, Pinos and bmc.
Yeah, but there are fair amount of older and modest bikes as well.👍🏾
Florida is Pinarello-Land. There might be more dealers here for that bike than in any other state. It is almost so common a thing here that the bike loses any sense of exclusivity. Same exact thing with S-Works in this state. There are so many of both that its like driving a high end Mustang whereas in other states people would look at you like you bought a Ferrari.
The TT bike market is bonkers here also, though you see that more up in the Clermont area because Clermont is the triathlon training mecca for the entire east coast.
I suspect the high number of retirees (and their disposable income) has a lot to do with the market here.
@alexjohnson6462 triathlon bikes here Irvine California are also common in the bike trails as far as high end bikes I don't see them that much. Never seen a pinarello yet but I've seen 1 colnago c64. Alot of old retired guys but vast majority ride older bikes or simple lower tier carbon bikes. Come to think of it I can only count in 1 hand the number of s-works I've seen.
In the mountains bike field I see a crap ton of high end brands compared to roadies 😄 🤣
@bonbonflippers4298 What is a "lower tier carbon bike"?
Higher disposable income in the US than the UK 🤷♂️
When I visit, I'm looking forward to catching up with you guys. More group rides video, it's a beautiful thing.
Thanks George. We've got them lined up👍🏾
High ave at the end. But then I remembered, Florida is flat.. I heard them say. Great video. Looks fun group to ride with.
Thanksnfor watching!
Thanks for showing me how nice the weather is in Florida
We wait all year for this stuff👍🏾
I own a chromolly bicycle and i can keep up with other riders in my area. An i do enjoy riding when it is a nicer day or weather.
What a lovely ride. Hope we will also get some sun here soon. This video really makes me want to go out 🫶
Thanks Michael! We'll then, I am glad I shared it👍🏾
I didn't intend to watch the whole ride, but I kinda liked it and just kept watching. Definitely went from a B group to an A-. 😜
Ha ha. I like that! Thanks 👍🏾
You look good to me Luis on your Bianchi. I don’t have a steel bike but I can’t help how I would have been dropped on this ride. It’s all about the complete package to pedal the bike.😊😊
Thank you! I appreciate that👍🏾
I would really like to see you explain your camera setup for this ride. Amazing footage!
I just asked that same question. I"m fasinated at the rotate from front to back view. Can't wait for the explanation.
Y'all are rolling. Enjoyed the video.
You guys are fast. That’s a spicy ride 🌶️.
Remember what kind of bike the GOAT carved his legend on. A 21lb colnago Molteni. Steel was real.
I am fairly new 26 yr old cyclist who rides with a group of 50+ year olds avg about the same, 22mph over 44 miles. It is tough for me, but i have yet to get dropped. Its the best ride i do! Would love to join this one too.
Sounds like a great ride! Thanks for watching👍🏾
I feel for the guy in the blue shirt and the red bike spinning like mad at the start. His front chainring looks kinda small. BTW, SW Ranches is south of Griffin, Davie north of it.
Ahh, thanks for that. We've just always played loose with the names.
STEEL-band music for the soundtrack!
Cue in up for the next😁
Funky music and commentary gets my vote. I'm not jealous at all about your roads with no hills...
These roads are waiting for you👍🏾
Once upon a time, the steel bike was the only option for a fast group ride. I'd suggest though the engine is more important than the machine.
👍🏾
Nice video. I know you’re using a 360 camera but how/where do you have it mounted? Are you using a helmet mount?
It's actually attached to the seatpost. I will be doing a video on how I mount and use it. Thanks for watching 👍🏾
@@thegoodwheel ok thanks. I’ll look out for that video. 👍🏾
Great !!!!
I Loved that ride out what time did you start out please the weather got better as time went on love the mix of riders also good bike handlers Thank you for the video Luis Keep safe Sir.
Hi David. 7am sharp. Indeed, the sun coming out later was real nice👍🏾
Puncuation is real!
A bit of commentary please just to add to the colour and context.
Noted! Will do 👍🏾
Definitely enjoyed the video . Mr smooth
Thank you thank you😊👍🏾
Great ride. No music necessary.
Thank you!
I been doing some faster rides on my steel gravel bike, no one is dropping me and Im not dropping anyone because of the bike. Although the bike is 3 pounds heavier then my carbon bike at most recreational levels although we would like to think it matters but its very marginal IMHO.
I also have a handlebar mounted camera. But I have to know, how do you rotate your camera from front view to back view and back to front view? Do you have some kind of battery operated swivel mount?
Great footage
Thank you 👍🏾
Hi Luis which material you used to record the video? You used some sort of stick attached to the bike? Maybe some commentary would be a good idea.
Excellent content. Which camera is this shot with?
Thank you. It's the insta360 x3
excellent video and it looks to me you were holding your own... was that camera the insta360 x2?
Thank you Sir! It's the X3
Flat land no problem, maybe in the mountains. Stiffness and light weight. I grew up down.
hHello, what camera do you use in front of
? And can you tell me the resolution? Thank you
Coming out to Ride 84 within the next two weeks.
Let's Go!
What's the gear ratio for a consistent 30+ mph ride⁉️
are u allowed to have blinking lights? I would not be able to ride in such a group, so distraction.
Your ride looked good Luis, a lot of gaps but I think that is because you can't possibly know the abilities in a group that large and some safety distances is needed. Looked like there were a lot of speed differentials going on too which I don't like in a pack ride or people splitting lines, ie riding between two lines of riders. Way to risky. At those speeds, ave 19mph, the frame isn't really gonna make that much difference and it being a flat course I would have expected a much higher speed with all that carbon areo-ness that was about. The route was pan flat, so to be fair to your frame and set up it would definitely hold its own against that bunch with rolling terrain. Nice riding on your part sir. Some of the bunch were huge guys... Zwift CAT B 350-400w ftp monsters on that ride.
Nice more hand signals please on traing rides.Could be interesting with some music?
Cool. Thanks for sharing👍🏾
Another banger !!!
👍🏾
May I ask what camera you used in this clip and what stat overlay?
Hi Mario. Camera is the inst360 x3. The stat overlay is Garmin virb edit. Thanks for watching 👍🏾
Steady 24-26?
I ride my 82 Eddy Merckx on group rides all the time, these are training rides too not casual.
Nice!
In Florida? Yes.
In other, more hilly states? Also yes.
👍🏾
How do you control the camera???? We must know!😊
I know it looks like a neat trick but the footage is edited post ride in the app. I have a 360° view to choose from.
Fads come and go CLASS IS FOREVER, I too ride a mechanical shifting rim brake steel frame lug CLASSIC which is CLASS PERSONIFIED. Keep riding that bike and let the posers pose!
That first guy in the vid could get the equivalent of $20000 in "bike weight loss" benefit by losing that GUT! ; )
I dunno, I've always been of the thinking that the bike doesn't really matter as much as too many people make it out to be. "Good enough" is not that hard to attain in a bike, and then it comes down to what the rider can do. Anyone agree?
No. Body shaming is never acceptable.
You don't know what he has been through or the class act that he is. Miles comes out here weekly and adds tremendous value to the community...
If your comment is a reflection of you, then that is sad indeed.
@@thegoodwheel totally agree. No shame in having a gut, for I have one too. I'm just saying that for me and others like me (while no issue with having a gut at all, as it is about power-to-weight ratio no matter where the extra weight is carried), it might be better to focus on the free gains rather than paying big bucks for marginal gains. But then my budget is likely lower than most.
STEEL IS REAL. Many noobs will think the latest bike tech will make them go faster. Having 12 speed groupset with 32-34 cassette they'll think is innovation. What they dont't know is that all this big cog on your bike is to covered the bad ride quality in modern days bikes. A good bike, with 27-28 cog you'll feel you having 30-32 cog in your bike.
👍🏾
It's flat AF what does bike weight matter? It could be 32lbs.
I think in another video he tells what the bike weighs, 7kg. So the steel bike is probably lighter than all the newer disc bikes on the ride.
It matters in acceleration. But I get your point. Thanks for watching👍🏾
Can you ride bullhorn bars in a group ride?
Bullhorn bars, but not with aero arms
. One must be able to get to the brakes! Where would your shifters be located. I have aero bars with shifting on them, brake levers on the end of the bull horns.
It would be helpful to show a unit conversion to KMs for all the non American people
Noted. Thanks for watching 👍🏾
Do the math x1.6 👍
Where is this FL?
Yes, Florida. Suburbs of Ft Lauderdale which is the main city north of Miami.
I can't start to tell you how happy Iam to see brothers out there riding...Zone 2 boss...your in good shape💪🏾
@@poincareconjecture5651 Oh, I'm not Luis. I just thought I'd answer your question when I noticed it when I came back to watch some more.
Ride84 in glorious arsevision 😂😂
I know. I tried to minimize the posterior 😂😂
you would lose me at 20 mph!
😂😂
more raw with limited commentary please
Noted. Thanks for watching 👍🏾
That was nice 👍
chubby people on $5,000 bikes hello from California LOL😎
I would enjoy a bit less f commentary…absolutely no elevator music
Yall to fast for me
