- Persona 4 Golden is one of the most popular Persona games. Persona 4 Golden struck gold in 2012 and with the wild success of Persona 3 Reload, it makes sense that Atlus would want to continue remaking older Persona games, right? Recently, news of Persona remakes are going rampant, with Persona 4 Remake being the likely contender out of the bunch to get the "Reload" treatment, and this video highlights why even such a polished game like Persona 4 Golden can benefit tremendously with a remake.

What enhancements would you bring to Persona 4 Remake?
obviously some mechanics from p5/p3re like shifting (but not as op) and also maybe some sort of highlight attacks like theurgy and showtimes. (these are all pretty likely tbh)
- Remove several unnecessary scenes or edit them down (Camping Trip, Beauty Pageant, Marie, Hot Springs scene, Dojima's interrogation)
- Larger and more intricate dungeons
- Better use of music for certain scenes. There were so many moments in the original where there's no music at all for scenes that would really need it.
- Have the same voice actors for the most part, but I'd recast Naoto's english VA. I think Mary Elizabeth McGlynn would be a better choice for her. Also have them do new takes or change up the script in some parts. I think some performances may need slight tone changes. And if Johnny Yong Bosch is playing Yu Narukami and Tohru Adachi, he's going to have to make the voices different like he did for the anime and Arena. Golden should not have recycled all old voice acting from the original.
- Change up how some boss fights work.
- New soundtrack pieces and better graphics (though I'm pretty sure these are just no brainers that I don't really need to point out)
- More free time in some areas.
Never needed one. The only reason it’s getting it is because we’re in the remake meta. I’d much rather they remake games that actually need one. Not to mention we’re probably going to get scammed out of content like in Persona 3 Reload and then forced to pay an extra 35 dollars to get the full content. It’s a smart strategy for dumb people.

personally.. i dont see the point of persona 4 golden remake right away tbh. its not like the graphics or story was lacking with the original . remake 1 and 2 first PLS. we're on our knees begging for 1 and 2 remake

I think the issue is that if they remake the old ones, they HAVE to remake 1, they can’t just remake P2, since P1 is very much related to P1 in terms of story. So, it is much easier to commit to P4, which is independent of the others, than commit to P1 and P2 right away.

Ever since I saw the character models in Persona 4 Dancing All Night I have wanted a modern remake. Besides, any excuse for me to go back and play Persona 4 for the twentieth time is a good one.
The one thing I want them to keep in a persona 4 remake is the ability to talk to your party in the dungeon, P3R didn’t have that neither did P5( playing the original then playing P5R) and that was always a nice thing to be able to check in with your friends while doing a dungeon. It added a lot more to the game than I realized and I miss it when it when it’s not available.

i feel like majority of ppl (myself included) who say p4 doesnt need a remake, its not cuz its a good game or anything, its more so it has its charm being an old/relevant game. p3 was heavily outdated and needed a remake, p4g however, has a sense of nostalgia when played, and it still plays smooth compared to ALOT of rpgs that come out today.

The success of Reload basically means a P4 remake in the same vein as Reload is a matter of when and no longer a matter of if. It’s unavoidable now.
I don't understand how come P3 was heavily outdated but P4 isn't, it has literally the same engine and game design as P4. they added some quality of life improvement on P4G, but the core principle of the game are still very similar (I even got bored during my playthrough of P4G after completed P3P, P3FES, and P4 around the same year)

Persona 3 Reload was the first Persona game Ive played. I liked it so much that I picked up Persona 4 Golden and finished it up this afternoon. The only gameplay changes I'd like to see are thw shift and being able to run faster in the dungeons. I caught myself on more than one occasion in a P4 dungeon holding down the trigger and wondering why they weren't going any faster. 🙂

Had to be a relief to see Nanako and Narukami survive coming from P3 and how it ended.
My only worry is replacing the voice cast. I love the cast of P4G (I know there are some recasts in that already), so hearing a different Chie or Yukiko would be so odd (and disappointing) to me.
I really hope they add the Therugy skills. I liked those more than 5's Showtimes.
We also really need to appreciate P4G's success on steam. According to Sega it surpassed expectations, causing them to look into other ports.

I only say so because both P4 Vanilla and Golden are perfectly playable games whereas P3 had so many weird oddities about it that I personally love but for other people pisses them the frick off. However, I'm not gonna sit here and say I wouldn't love a P4 remake with palace like dungeons and my bae Chie bouncing around in 4K.

I hope that they reference a lot more of P3 stuff, and foreshadow P5 if they choose to do it. Im not sure how they can go about the P3 side, since Arena is pretty clear on how each cast meets each other, but it would be cool to see a nod to Sho, or see Mitsuru in her P4 attire, searching for clues in Tasumu Island.

Personas and weapons skins I think this should be in every persona game
I agree that P4 should just be left alone. I played reload, golden and royal. Reload has significant issues mainly they messed with stuff that was fine and didn’t fix some major issues. My concern when it comes P4 getting remade is the voice acting (english), the music, and social links. Reload massive messed with P3 music and not in a good way ( mass destruction). They also didn’t fix or update all the social links. Making them feel outdated in comparison to the party members social links. When people are clamoring for P4 being remade. I don’t think there considering the drawback and also whether those issues are worth potential messing or even erasing some of the games original charm. For me P4 biggest issues is Marie, and the dungeon gimmicks. I would also include social links writing consistently and quality but P3,P4, and P5 all have that problem. They didn’t fix that specific issue in reload. so what is the point.
Whenever I see like persona style models, or like models that look like that I can’t think they’re small. I can’t wait to see what the models are gonna look like.

Wow, all i can say is wow, when i found out about persona 4 Golden got a steam release i was so exited i have play the Persona 4 on ps2 but i never play the golden version on the vita and now there will be a remake of p4 in the future. Oh boy now i am very curious about this persona 4 remake.

Well, P3 was the game that needed a remake, and P3R is a master piece but does P4 need a remake? P4G is already a masterpiece, has great gameplay, great graphics and great new content, imo they don't have anything to add, unlike P3R who fixed, improved and added so much stuff to the main game, and i'm sure they will do the same with Episode Aigis, the main P4G game and the Hollow Forest is already perfect imo.
When there is a demand as big as wanting a P4 remake it's probably likely to happen. Leakers already have hinted to it being possible, and regardless of whether or not it needs a remake doesn't matter, it's about the money and sales. I Think a remake would bring P4 back into the mainstream and find a new audience to enjoy it on top of the old one, but who knows lol

I came into the series with P5 and its now ny favourite game of all time :-).
A few years back i borrowed a ps vita from a friend to play P4G and most recently i played P3R.
Im in love with this francise :-)
A remake of P4G would be awesome.
What I personally wanna see are more Social Link abilities like in P5. Its just so rewarding to get new abilities through your social links and it motivates even more to do them other than just more xp while fusing.
Oh and I hope nanako gets her old voice actor. Shes the most adorable videogame character out there and i really want her old voice actor to speak her again if this is even possible ❤

incorrect, there were special attacks in P4 and showtimes in P4G (example: chie and yukiko combo attack)
P4 is my favorite so seeing my cabage boy with a new 3D model makes me excited
I doubt they will change dungeons, since they said, they'd like to save and represent the original game design in their remakes, this was told about P3R and I'm sure the same will happen with P4R

All I'd be worried about for a P4 remake would be voice recasting. I know they have Yuri Lowenthal on speed dial but he only had a minor role in P3R.
Reload had now given Atlus finished models and animations that can be used for a P4 remake
I hope for a Persona 4 remake just so I can get a version of the game on PC that doesn't crash on me. P4G has all kinds of random crashes ever since I bought an RX 6700 XT which runs much harder to run games like Persona 3 Reload, Elden Ring, Cyberpunk, etc perfectly and when I complained to Sega they just basically told me to pound sand.

I'd love for it to get a remake. However, Atlus has a choice to make. Do they only remake the original P4 and leave out the Golden content, probably to sell later? Or do they remake P4G?
It made sense to go the route they did with P3R and The Answer, since they are two separate things, effectively like an expansion. P4 and Golden is different because the Golden content is intertwined all throughout P4. I'm fine with either but I'd prefer if they did P4G.
They'd probably just remake Golden, the answer is it's own seperate 20+ hour thing but Golden's new additions are much less

I definitely see them just remaking Golden. If they do P4 and then add Golden DLC later, it would basically force players to play back through the entirety of the game, since Golden adds things to the story all throughout the game
the only issue I have with P4G that I see is there is no physical version of the game. well, it did get a limited run treatment but that about it. A P4 remake will likely get a digital and physical version like they did with P3R, P5, P5R, & P5S

I’d rather see P1 and P2 remake before P4. It would be game changing for both and also more challenging for them to make a remake of both. P4 remake can come later. Especially since they released P4 Golden on Steam and Xbox a couple years ago. Even if it wasn’t a remake, it would be too early for them to rerelease P4 as a remaster.

Not to be that guy but playing through persona 4 golden, there are showtimes in the game but they're random after an all out attack. So all they'd have to do is make cutscenes for these attacks and make it a button like p5/r had it

i think its better if they kept the randomly generated dungeons instead of the set layouts of p5 since it helps keep each playthrough feel uniqe and fresh when you revisit a dungeuon or start a new save file

Well, Midori (the insider) definitely has a great scoop of what's going on with the Persona series, and due to the success of Persona 3 Reload, I think a Persona 4 remake is absolutely in the works. That said, it will likely be many years until we finally get that game. Persona 6 is the next big Persona release

Yeah, you're probably right about that...
The issue with P3 is that there is only tartarus as the one main dungeon and so it made more sense to treat it like P5’s mementos
P4 has the opposite issue, with no mementos like area but several character based dungeons more similar to the palaces of P5
I do have the feeling that a P4 remake would leave the dungeons the same to “be faithful (lazy)” but I feel it’d make more sense than P3 for them to do complex character specific dungeons for this remake if they wanted to

@@nightwish1453 p1 and 2 needing AT LEAST a modern way to play them is obviously more important than a p4 remake. I recently finished p4 for the first time, the dungeon are extremely similar and the combat mechanics don’t evolve past the first dungeon and the enemies don’t really go past what you see after the third dungeon. I think it’s not a good thing for a game that lasts so long reiterating always the same formula; they just put a watered down smt, I can understand that for the time but the game could be so much better with a remake, p4 peaks in the social sim aspect but falls short in the rpg part. With p5 they tried to modernize and change a lot of things but imo they made too many bad game design decisions especially regarding eccessive handholding during palaces exploration and too easy combat.

One thing is probably certain: Persona 4 Reload will have a new voice cast for the English dub just like what happened with Persona 3 Reload.

I saw the title and immediately wanted to jump on the p4g does not need a remake bandwagon but the more i thought about it i think there are things they could improve. More social activities/content would be awesome (maybe more adachi stuff?). The cellphone notification system from p5r would be awesome since it made it easier to weigh options during the day. I would also love to see them incorporate more elemental types (like nuclear) to the combat. That would be a fun way to reimagine battles and fusions

I loved p5, but p4 is still my favorite. Looks Iike I might be buying 4 for a third time lol- the original base, gold, and this remake.
I just started playing P4G this month after playing P5R (my first Persona game) and I am really enjoying it. Going from 5R to 4G was a little rough gameplay, but the story is very good. Somehow this is an even bigger group of idiots than 5, but they're still loveable. Going through it, I think some story changes or enhancments should be done. I was intrigued by the ideas behind Kanji and Naoto being explored, however they were very hamfisted (specifically Kanji). Kanjis approach, while fitting of the thinking of the time, just seems cringy and disappointing playing today. Id also hope they improve the true killers story and involvment in the story. It comes down to basically who fits best based off the limited info, and is less satisfying than deducing through the course of the game.

P4G is one of my favorite games of all time. And yet, I don't think we really need a remake. While it doesn't visually match up to P5R and now P3R, Golden is the full package.
P3 needed a remake because the original and FES lack the quality of life features that smoothed over the series' rough edges (like actually being able to command your allies). And while P3P resolved a lot of those problems, it also had to be slimmed down to fit on the limited PSP storage, playing more like a visual novel than the immersive RPG we enjoy in the rest of the series.
P4G just does not have these problems. It has enough of the quality of life changes to be enjoyed today, and there are no features from the original P4 that is not also present in P4G.
In essence, there is far less reason to remake P4. I think that time and resources would be far better invested into a P1 or P2 remake, or even just P6.

The endless remakes, recycling, and reselling of old games instead of producing new content is the wrong choice in the long run. 1 or 2 remakes between mainline title releases are fine. I want to stop having the same great game resold to me a half dozen times just to be objectively good but not filling. It is like eating your single favorite food for breakfast lunch and dinner every day. At some point, it will become less satisfying.
i would like persona 6 to be released then a few remakes then 7 and a couple more remakes.

I don't reallyyyy see the need for a remake at the moment but I guess they want to pick up the momentum after 3 reload? I do think 4 could really use some updates, especially when it comes to the homophobia and sexism. Teddy was sometimes really unbearable and I honestly thought they could have done SO MUCH MORE with Kanji and Naoto and gone a lot further (with Kanji being closeted and bi/pan and Naoto being non binary or gender fluid or trans). The hints are all there and it would have been revolutionary in the gaming world if they had gone that route but alassssss. Oh and not to mention Yusuke as well!
Completely agree! They are likely looking at the success of Persona 3 Reload and thinking that Persona 4 getting a remake would provide a big return on the investment. P4 has meant a lot to a lot of people over the years

There's no reason not to, and it would be weird to leave it un-remastered in between 3 and 5. It's a pretty obvious money maker for Atlas if they do it.

I’d rather see persona 5 get a remake. It’s over 10 years old and could use a lot of quality of life changes. The fans love the fifth entry and I’m surprised the lesser known ones are getting any attention
5 needs one the least mate, also half the fans of 5 haven't even played the game

And it’s make atlus the most money since fans know and love it all around the world and its many issues would go a long way to make the game better for veterans and newcomers alike

Not to mention there’s P5 Phantom X as well. P1 and P2 desperately need remakes while P4 can come later, although would be easier to work on the P4 remake first. P5 remake, maybe in another 10 years. They’ve already milked P5 pretty hard. It would be like the equivalent of GTA V.

P4 dungeons were so boring to play. I couldn’t finish it even though I loved the concept and characters. In contrast, P5 was awesome!
I dislike p4g, I think the original is the definitive edition. I hope they revert it back.

As an LGBTIQ+ player, I would love a rewritten arc for specifics characters. Those original arcs were unconfortable, and left a bad taste in my mouth. Besides that, the rest of the game is fantastic as it is ✨

@@garbage245yosuke being gay/bi wasn’t like, a defining characteristic about him even when it was on the table. Like sure, reading the cut dialogue, it was a semi-important part of his character I guess but that wasn’t ever gonna be his arc as a whole.
