An incredible player with an immense facility to score goals that seemed impossible. That was part of Jardel's magic that obviously made him unique but he suffered the injustice of the Brazil team to play at a time when there were a huge number of weighty names who occupied that position on offense.
Jardel was the definition of a fox in the box striker "missing goal chances" simply didn't exist in his textbook. He would've left a much bigger legacy if it wasn't for his personal life issues...
It sounds almost insane that he couldn't make it into the national team except a very few occasions.. Ronaldo was just the pure force of nature, and then there was Rivaldo who was more versatile, but no one else could come close to the offensive completeness of Jardel
One of those players that are ridiculously talented at scoring goals. Makes it look so effortlessly easy. I was able to watch him live during his spell at Turkey, albeit as a rival fan. Amazing talent.
Funny how he makes all those headers look so easy and effortless. I am 38 and I've seen a lot of good header players but Jardel was something else. If you had good wingers to connect crosses to him, lay back and enjoy.
Heading and jumping ability, timing, positioning - all absolutely top notch. Unstoppable header of the ball while he wasn't the tallest or strongest among forwards. But he was also an amazing scorer with his feet. Extreme level of composure, shooting technique. He'd score goals from tap-ins as he somehow knew where the ball goes, he'd cut into the box and score before defenders had a clue what he's going to do, he would almost always convert one on ones from counterattacks, he'd score magnificent goals from outside box, insane volleys..
One of the best Players in History when it comes to Headers. Sadly, he never played for a big Club like R. Madrid, Milan, Juventus, Man. Utd., Liverpool etc...
@iftikhor4885 No not really That’s make no sense cr7 scored more goals in a modern football You can’t say someone scored more goals hence he have better heading this now how it works Cr7 don’t have strong header Or a neck mobility He just jump very high vertically and send loose and weak ball Jardel , shevchenko , trazuget and many more Can fly horizontally with so much power using their body mass in the air and neck mobility to send the ball with so much power Cr7 most of his goal just jump high and tap the ball
@@badsolja1 I don't know about those other guys, but Jardel many times shot of ball with the head when people expected him (and anyone else) to use the feet. He had an almost unique capacity to accelerate the ball with the head and direct it with perfection. As if he was playing snooker. That's what made him special. I don't think he had the capacity to jump as high as Ronaldo. But his positioning was very good and he was able to score with the head from tight spaces and difficult angles.
@@jbentosimoesJardel actually taught ronaldo how to header when he was at sporting, so i think CR7 himself would give credit to jardel for how good he is in the air.
Well, he started coming from the bench at San Siro, against the then powerful AC Milan, scored two goals and gave us, FC Porto, an epic victory and the next day a huge hangover but the best of my life. Then he kept on scoring aound 40 goals each season but for some unknown reason no big top team ever approached him. Thank you Jardel for those amazing 4 seasons at Porto, you will never be forgotten (and you know it).
Fell in love with super Mario when Porto played Manchester United in champions league. The goal when he chested the ball picked a spot a placed was genius and elagant.
What a striker this guy Jardel... We lived in the era of great strikers Jardel, Eber, Geovanni, Ronaldo, Edmundo, Batistuta, Crespo, Hakan Sukur, Weah, Walter Pandiani, Shearer, Raul, Cassaraghi and many more
Andy Cole, Dwight Yorke, Austin Asprilla, Dennis Bergkamp, Luca Toni, Oliver Bierhoff, Ivan Zamorano, Alvaro Recoba, Christian Vieri, Robbie Fowler, Alessandro Del Pierro, Eric Cantona, Nwankwo Kanu, David Trezeguet, Nicholas Anelka, Marcello Salas, Roberto Baggio, Romario, Bebeto, Youri Djorkaeff.....
If this way today...Jardel would stay one, two seasons max in the portuguese league and go to England....and he'd be considered a European striker phenomenon. An even bigger one, I mean. This guy REALLY was something else.
for all the goals he scored its amazing he didn't join an elite club or go to the 2002 world cup as back up to ronaldo. the amount of headers he scored is amazing

It seems like goal kicks are saved very easily, even I can do this goal kick. But the situation is not at all what it seems. The beats are a masterpiece. I've seen this type of goal kick in the world with Messi, Ronaldo, Romario, Klose, Inzaghi, Del Piero, Svchenko and Tanju. Tanju Colak was one of the top scorers in Europe in the 80s.
I'm barcelona fan since 1996 and never wanted any player in my team more than him. Not any single big name. Just him along with figonand rivaldo. Or even Riva and zenden. Just instead of lluivert.
As context, he has more goals than games against Bayern, Real, Barcelona and Milan. And this playing for Porto, Gala and Sporting. What other player would have more goals than games against those teams while playing with inferior squads? The answer is NO OTHER. You could have played R9 instead of him and he wouldn't have scored as many in this situation. The way he dominated inside the box was never repeated. Cross the ball in and even the greatest center backs in the world couldn't do a thing. He was just so weirdly good at getting into his spot and finishing. His aeral game is the best i have ever seen together with Ronaldo. Jardel had greater technique. CR just had insane impulsion.

So many goals against the big clubs. Lethal in the air. If I remember rightly, he was a beast on championship manager.

Those two headers against Bayern 🤤
And Two against Barcelona, ac milan
