You can capture the butt ends beneath the next rod you add and pin them down in that way rather than having to clip them off in the end. Also, try to balance the weight of the wreath by scattering the butt ends evenly around the circumference of the wreath as you go. Slowing down a bit will minimize the risk of kinks. The whole process can be a relaxing thing to do leading into the hectic holidays. Thanks for the demo.
How nice 🙂. I have willows, only small bush weave one and a larger curly willow. I could make a small one .. i grew from one branch. And more growing. But i can use your way to do. I can't buy anything much. Cool ty
Hi and thank you so much for this tutorial. Now I know why it didn't work with my willow branches..they are way too short. But I couldn't find longer ones. 🤷♀️
Have you ever thought about growing your own willow for crafts? Not sure if it’s actually possible. I just made a wreath with willow snipped straight from my willow tree just for fun and wondered if you could.. I’d love to give basket weaving a try and love the idea of just using what’s in my garden
Black maul is the species (salix triandra). Buff willow has been boiled and had bark removed. Sounds like you bought brown willow, which is just dried with the bark on so takes longer to soak
221116, I have been cutting 7 stems of my Cornus alba Sibirica today to make winter wreaths. I will put on small branches of pine and spruce, also adding Lamb's ears leafs and some cones. If there are some flowers left, like sedum or some seed heads, maybe I put them on also. Thanks for this great explanation on how you weave your willow. I live in the middle of Sweden, we have no snow and no frost yet. Nice!
Hi! I got an alert that you had posted a video about winter plans for the garden and shipping container but when I select it, it shows that it is private/ is there a way for me to be able to see it?
you can soak them in a tub, a pool, a pond, a stream, a watering trough, a soaking bag, anything that holds a few inches of water, the rods and whatever you use to weigh down the rods to keep them submerged for the required time@@bethtilley7466
Thank you. Love that you are so natural and keep it simple.

Loved this video! Thank you! Managed to make my own wreath base using foraged canes thanks to this tutorial x
bunnies eat willow! someone's bunnies would love those little cut offs. ♡
Thank you. Your video was really helpful. I used willow from my allotment and it's worked a treat. I've just got to add the foliage now!

Nice. Thanks. Will try.
Willow with bark will last longer than buff if your ring is going outside

Anyone know how to find this in US?
willow grows along river banks, edges etc. it is all along Indiana rivers here, but any river will have it, even at lakes and reservoirs
What do you soak them in
Water
you need a soaking bag which you can buy from the same place u buy the willow usually.
