I just made the mistake of buying a like-new used one today. If you can't connect via wifi is there any way to make it work? Has anyone tried changing out the electronics to make a non wifi "normal" smoker?
It might look awesome but I have one and absolutely hate it. It barely connects to the internet, the application always crashes, and you cannot do anything with this thing without it connecting to the internet. If you are interested in buying one, contact me and I will sell you mine. Going to buy a Traeger tomorrow.
I apologize but are there temperature settings on this unit. Outside of a offset smoker I have about every type of smoker known to man. I can actually smell the difference between wood or charcoal smoked meat and electric smoked meats but I want the ease of a digital smoker.
Have you verified that the unit kept the set cabin temperature??? Reason is: I bought 3 (each from different stores hoping I got a bad one) and each one always and always just heats to as high as it will go...over 300 degrees each time. I have 2 different gauges placed inside the unit as well as my idevice temperature probes. I left on over night and still the unit never goes down to the set 200 degrees I set it to manually. I have temperature logs to prove. Has anyone ever verified this????? I work in IT have no issues with the wifi or app. I grill all the time so know what I'm doing so no need to think I'm a beginner. I would love for it to work but I don't thing this thing is ready for production. It's no surprise that the unit never shows you what the real-time temperature is inside the cabin. Char-broil only tells you what you set it for...but never what the actual temperature is inside the unit. Seems to be by design.
Char-Broil claims this is done to get the wood chips smoking, a buddy of mine has one and we got on the phone with them. Oddly my Masterbuilt uses less wood chip and doesn't do that, plus the outside is barely warm to the touch thanks to decent insulation.
It is not internet connected it connects to your mobile phone assuming it's compatible most older smart phones aren't for some reason, like Galaxy S3. It's not a very good smoker either the one without the app gets higher reviews but that's not saying much as Char-broil often ranks at the bottom when compared with other entry level models. Bottom line it's gimmick, if you get one get the one with the front control panel I would also suggest getting the one without the window as these aren't insulated that well to begin with and it's just something you have to clean every time you use it. It is really cheap though so there is value in that, I guess.
The manual says you have to be within 30 to 40 feet of the router. Mine was next to it and wouldn't connect. Do Not buy this unit. You have only 3 presets if you can't connect. Customer Service is good, but the unit is garbage. You shouldn't have to have a phone, router, and app just to smoke pork. A simple timer and thermostat would be fine and less aggravating. I'm ready to trash it and I've only been able to use it three times.
Does that Wi-Fi app work with laptops, and why not go with the electric smoker that comes with the remote control ? As a side note ; I can tell this Guy's not going to be the one cleaning up that mess he made putting those probes in the meat, Ha,ha,ha !!!
This smoker is a complete disappointment. Over a year or so I used it 6 or 8 times. Wifi/connection is spotty, but what's worse is it has power issues. Was working fine but now pops my GFI after 10 minutes or so in chip burn cycle. No other devices pop that GFI. Charbroil shipped me a new power board and cord which I had to literally wait 2 weeks for via FedEx. I replaced both (without any instruction to guide me). Fired it up. Worked for 10 minutes and popped the GFI. I"m done. This whole idea is great but absolutely poorly executed from the app to the smoker. Done with CharBroil.

What's the app called ?

I can't get mine to hook up to wifi. Is there anyway you can set the time for longer than 45mins manually?
The app doesn't work!!! 😤😤
What is the app name ?

Does this smoker come fully assembled?

This was my concern as well. Haven't bought one yet for this reason

Hellom i brought a used electric smoker but its missing the wood chip tray box. Can i just used a aluminum loft pan ??
Anyone know how to stop it from tripping the circuit breaker?
You probably need a dedicated circuit

Great
The proof of the pudding is in the eating. Seriously? How do you judge something that cooks food without tasting what it makes?
good job, thanks
Didnt even taste it?

I have this smoker. big mistake on my half for buying it. app don't work all the time,
Don't buy the Wi Fi smoker. Char Broil sells a super great smoker that isn't controlled by your phone.
I want one
You don't want this one.
This smoker is misunderstood by many reviewers. See my full review here: natepepperdotcom.wordpress.com/2017/10/29/a-smoker-for-your-smart-home/
can you share your rub please?
great
This smoker does not allow you to use it without the wifi set up. DO NOT purchase this unit if you want something with a simple on/off.
I wish I would've know that before I purchased....
It can be used without wifi. It has three presets.
For lazy rookies only
