I have been in Uruguay many times. Punta del Este is a gorgeous beach, beautiful people, the Sea Lions are a big part of the beach's attraction. One of the best summer destinations in the world.

Roberto once breached right next to me as I was swimming close to the shore at Gentle Beach off bus stop 1. Gave me the fright of my life, but then again I've never heard of any Punta del Este sea lions injuring people.

I think it's more a tamed beast versus free animal thing. These guys are used to Humans while most male sea lions are hella territorial, especially during mating season. Either that or he can sense non-threatening males versus the young looking males. I think if there was a female near he wouldn't be so gentle.

Aquí en Punta del Este jamás se habló de leones sino de lobos. ¿Por qué cree usted que la isla se llama Isla de Lobos? Los machos grandes tienen melena y parecen leones pero siguen siendo lobos marinos o lobos de mar, no leones.
Cómo hace la carita, cuando le dan de comer, parece que espera el pescado, y luego si camina😍🤗

En Español se usan ambas denominaciones dependiendo de la especie (Ver el diccionario de la RAE). Son dos especies diferentes. Se diferencian fácilmente sobre todo en los machos porque los leones marinos son mayores y tienen una melena característica que les cubre la cabeza y el cuello. En Punta del Este hay ambas, aunque los lobos marinos prevalecen abrumadoramente (180.000 contra 20.000). Igual no compiten porque los lobos acostumbran pescar mar adentro, mientras que los leones permanecen cerca de la costa. Roberto es un León Marino.

Vivo en Punta del Este, es muy normal que salgan a la calle son muy amigables siempre estan en contacto con el turismo rstan acostumbrados a que los visitantes se tomen fotos con ellos,no hacen daño

Qué buen video, se nota que no hubo tensión y que fue hasta divertido para todos los seres que participaron incluido Roberto por supuesto (menos para el dueño del auto, jaja).
Tesore es un genio, yo ya lo había visto en varios videos y siempre trata a los animales con mucho cariño, se nota que ama lo que hace y además lo hace muy bien. En ningún momento forzó a Roberto, sólo le dio opciones y el animal hizo lo que quiso y el resultado fue el esperado.
Ah, y a los bobos que se las dan de naturistas y critican a los que sacaron los celulares, lo que sacó esa gente es la cámara que viene incluida en ellos, de la misma manera que cualquiera hace 30 años habría sacado una cámara de rollo o una videograbadora a cassette si la hubiera tenido encima en un momento así (además si tanto les molesta la tecnología me pregunto qué hacen sentados frente al teclado de la computadora).

I stayed only 2 nights in Punta de este, and it was too windy, no more cruise to lobo island. Punta de Este is very beautiful!

En Uruguay antes del año 1991 se los mataba para comercializar su piel , a partir de ese año 1991 ya no se los mata y tienen su área protegida en la llamada Isla de lobos que queda a unos kilómetros de la costa de Punta del Este .
