When you think about it, kendo is just professional bonking

If you think about it all sports sounds really funny if you think them in a abstract way

Not executed properly. Hard to explain as DO is the hardest striking technique.

He hit the target area but there was no opportunity. This ended in him aborting his technique and closing the distance to avoid getting Hit.
In Kendo you need an opportunity to strike which at this level should be created by yourself and after taking the opportunity you should exert mental and physical control by either closing the distance, which makes cutting very difficult, getting away and most importantly no matter if you increase or close the distance, face your opponent and get into your ready stance (kamae).
