Lucas beats the game and decides to play it a second time. But as he loads back into world 1-1, things are different. He then sees Mario (MX) come up to the screen and talk to him. Since he is highly intelligent (Like Lord X) He is able to manipulate Lucas, telling him "It's time to sleep" and, "The lights won't hurt" Lucas then dies from a seizure, and MX captures his soul, absorbing it into the game and placing his soul into the body of Luigi. Lucas wakes up in the world, not knowing what's going on. He ends up going face to face with MX and of course, like you played, he chases him. MX changed the game making it so Lucas has infinite lives so he can chase him down and kill his as many times as he wants to for his own enjoyment. His main goal was luring someone to play the game so he can kill them and put their souls in the game, tormenting them forever, as that is his twisted definition of "fun". For now Lucas is his only known victim and he has not been able to escape MX's grasp yet. MX was apparently created the same time the universe was, so his pent up need for murder and sadism had grown through the billions of years. In 1983 he decided to posses the Super Mario disc as a way to lure people into playing it. He also changed the game so there are no powerups so Lucas couldn't retaliate if he wanted to. That's basically all to it right now, its unfinished so more lore to come. I just thought when you eventually did play the finished version, you could already know most of the lore. Anyway, fun vid.
