These guys gave one hell of a live show and some of the best r&r songs over a 20 year period. Gary and Kevin definitely had the songwriting magic! One of the best American bands of all time!

This concert was at Kemper Arena in downtown Kansas City Missouri. I was there. They stayed at the Hall's Crown Center Hotel. My Grandpa knew Joyce Hall of Hallmark Cards. He lived on the Kansas side of the State line. He kept Grandpa's horses at his farm. That's how I got a ticket right in front of the stage. Kemper is a huge arena and they filled it both nights they were there.

That's really awesome! I was watching a 1979 Germany concert they filmed a few days ago and the crowd was really enjoying and excited being a part of the excellent music. Every time they showed the crowd, everyone was standing and cheering with hands and arms up in the air rocking out :-) That's cool to have been captured in some of the video like those people were also.
@@karlriley9274 I was there... the Limo's pulled up behind stage and would back up, then move forward to get the crowd excited... then back up, and move forward again... the stage hands were using long-pole brooms to push the water off of the overhead canopy's... and the First Song they played was Ridin' The Storm Out... they were the headlining performers... KC Royal's Stadium, Summer Jam '77... just N of the Arrowhead Stadium... I-70 by Raytown... Summer Rock's were always there, too. FOHS 1981

Kemper , Sandstone , Kaufman Stadium , Chiefs Stadium , Memorial Hall , Starlight Theatre , and a long time ago One Block West were places that REO rocked Kansas City . One of best bands ever . Best concert was at Kaufman Stadium when a storm rolled in . Rain , wind , and lightning flashing across the sky . They came out early with Riding The Storm Out and the place went nuts .
Led Zeppelin, Journey, and REO Speedwagon were my top three favorites back in the 1980 era. Zeppelin was no more, REO Speedwagon and Journey were flying high and hot, and they were putting out the best music around especially when it came to live shows. I've always loved all three of these bands 😎
I was at that concert. The show opened with Sammy Hagar, the next act was Heart, then REO and closed with Steve Miller. We smoked a lot of weed at that show.
They were a huge part of my childhood and I feel soooo blessed they are still in my heart, forever!! Just saw them again with Styx whom I've never seen. Stellar Concert and what made it more special is Kevin took the time to learn about our city. A true musician Keep pushing on guys!! 💖💖😎😘
And REO was my first concert at age 15. Ok I feel I should have not said that but it is to say that is how much I love them and to thank them for so many awesome memories!😆❤️🎸

You know who else is still killing it? Iron Maiden! Seeing them again in about 2 weeks in DC. The best live band I have ever seen. REO is a close 2nd with Cheap Trick.

They don't make them like this any more. Best all round live group/band still going. What an atmosphere it must have been then at this concert. Sheer brilliance!!
An absolutely perfect performance. The whole concert. You can now get it on DVD. Only transferred crop the VHS tape. But it's still fantastic. I've seen them live in recent years. 2007 and 2008. I'm afraid they just don't reach this level anymore. They do have a premier league Drummer though. He makes them very powerful

I lost count on how many times I've seen them but unfortunately, and not that they are bad with this current lineup, it was all after Gary Ricthrath had left. REO has always put on a great show! I'd love to see this show and the 1981 Denver concert released in full! I've got a DVD of the 1981 show. McNichols Arena in Denver, Colorado is an awesome performance also :-)
I saw these guys in 83 in Greensboro. What a great show from one of the all time great bands. I remember people were throwing glow sticks on stage and Kevin Cronin, instead of getting angry, picked one up and said these things hurt...ouch as he touched his head with it. Then right back to jamming out for another hour. Really classy move that I've never forgotten.

It is actually Kemper Arena in Kansas City. spelling and arena were wrong. It isn't used at all anymore. The Sprint Center is downtown. Personally I liked Kemper better
Haha, they are the storm! I've been getting back into vinyl since last year and have almost completed getting all of the REO Speedwagon albums. Just a few newer ones needed but I like the older ones the best!
Bittersweet watching this. Just amazing seeing how good they were again. Gary Richrath was the heart of that band, and Kevin Cronin was a good front man & had the perfect voice for them. Yeah, they are still around, but are just a good cover band at this point. Kevin don't have that kind of horsepower anymore.

I've watched pretty much everything I can find online of REO, and I keep wondering why it was so hard for the person(s) videoing/editing to hold a camera still for more than 4 seconds on Gary? Same for Bruce, Neil, and Alan. You'd also think you'd focus the camera on the person playing a solo part?

Kemper Arena was not torn down. It underwent considerable renovation in 2017-18, and has been renamed Hy-Vee Arena. Still standing, though.

I've watched pretty much everything I can find online of REO, and I keep wondering why it was so hard for the person(s) videoing/editing to hold a camera still for more than 4 seconds on Gary? Same for Bruce, Neil, and Alan. You'd also think you'd focus the camera on the person playing a solo part?
