  • The Minecraft Survival Guide Season 3 continues in Minecraft 1.20.4!
    In this tutorial, we take an introductory look at what is possible with Slime Blocks!
    Slime blocks have a bunch of useful properties - from preventing fall damage and bouncing entities, to pushing and pulling blocks, to making flying machines that let you transport blocks and entities across the world.
    We take a look at how high slime blocks will bounce you, and what they refuse to bounce. We catapult a chicken in various directions. We discuss what slime blocks will push and pull, and what they won't. Then we build a slime block flying machine, and a piston door which uses slime blocks to open and close a large area!
    Along the way we also compare them to honey blocks, which have many similar uses but some very different ones, and it's important to know the difference!

    Pix, I am a 42 yr old mom who fell in love with this game because of my kids. I just wanted to come here and say that I just beat the dragon for the first time! I also managed to get elytra and shulker shells! I can't tell you how excited I am! I'm not the best, but it is an accomplishment for me and I couldn't have done it with out you and this series! One small extra tip, if you want to transport entities on an online server you are better off putting them into a minecart first before transporting them with a flying machine.
    Entities in minecarts are calculated more "accurate" and remove lag for a large part from the equation.
    Same when you need something that you launch with slimeblocks to always hit the same place, put them in a minecart first :)

    I guess the glazedness of the glazed terracotta makes it resistant to the stickiness, and it can only be pushed due to the application of force. it makes sense logically, but it’s an interesting game mechanics I never knew of before

    • @Pixlriffs
      @Pixlriffs  5 месяцев назад +4

      Yeah, the glaze is meant to be a glossy surface that prevents stuff from sticking. I've used it a couple of times in the past, it's worth knowing about!

    • @TheRealWormbo
      @TheRealWormbo 5 месяцев назад

      I believe glazed terracotta is the only block with that piston interaction, which can sometimes be a bit frustrating, if you are aiming for a certain aesthetic. All other blocks fall into the three categories "blocks movement", "breaks when pushed" or "moves when pushed or pulled".

    Hey Pix, is there any wither skeleton farm in planning? I wanna buold one but the videos i seen is a bit confusing. Would like you to break it down in details and the spawning rule, thanks in advance

    • @Pixlriffs
      @Pixlriffs  5 месяцев назад +9

      I wasn’t planning on doing one this month, but maybe in the new year!
      The spawning rules aren’t too tricky though. Imagine a giant box drawn around the entire nether fortress (cutting off the legs/pillars that support everything). Any full blocks of nether brick placed within that box will spawn nether fortress mobs, including wither skeletons.
      Now imagine a series of smaller boxes, drawn precisely around each structure within the fortress. Nether fortress mobs can spawn on any solid spawnable block inside those boxes - it doesn’t have to be nether brick any more.
      Typically players will try to set up a wither skeleton farm inside those boxes because they can place a platform of grass or netherrack and cover it with Wither Roses, which makes sure wither skeletons are the only mobs that spawn.

    • @TheRealWormbo
      @TheRealWormbo 5 месяцев назад +3

      IanXO4 also has a relatively simple fortress farm design, if you can satisfy a couple of constraints. His farm uses the outer bounding box of the nether fortress, where the fortress mobs only spawn on full netherbricks blocks. He recommends finding a fortress that is located reasonably within a soulsand valley (or alternatively warped forest) biome to bring the required amount of spawn-proofing to zero, and you also don't need any wither roses. The other constraints for building and running this farm are:
      - You need to be able to build above the nether roof, as it really relies on the spawning platform being barely within spawning range of the player.
      - There should not be any other players in the overworld (i.e. you build this in single player, or in a not very busy server), or you will need a second player to AFK near the overworld part of the farm. A second player may also be required if your game (server or single player) is modded and would shut down mob processing if the dimension is only loaded by portals, but not players.

    What if Gnembon adds pushable tile blocks from the Carpet Mod to the game? He already did add the tick speed adjustment ability to the game, so that's something.

    • @Pixlriffs
      @Pixlriffs  5 месяцев назад +1

      I think it's possible in future, but the technical community would need a really long notice period because of the amount of contraptions which already rely on tile blocks being non-pushable.
      When the game has a legacy of player creations which work around restrictions like that, the developers have to give a lot of consideration to removing those restrictions.

    Love to watch the new videos. Is there any way to downgrade an update that has ruined your world

    • @TheRealWormbo
      @TheRealWormbo 5 месяцев назад +3

      Yes, by restoring a backup of your world. Once your world is broken, it will stay that way. In fact, downgrading past certain version boundaries often does additional damage, since certain updates change the way certain aspects of the world are stored on the file system, and older versions don't know how to use those newer storage variants, there fore either missing parts or completely resetting entire chunks saved in the newer version.

    • @Pixlriffs
      @Pixlriffs  5 месяцев назад +2

      I’m not an expert in world management like this - downgrading can be a tricky business for Java edition players. You can set up profiles with older versions of Minecraft through the launcher, but rolling your world back can cause corrupted data, so I recommend reverting to a backup if you have one, or making a backup and trying a world editor like Amulet editor.
      I’m not sure it’s even possible on Bedrock Edition, since it updates automatically so you can’t really play on anything except the latest version.

    Unfortunately it's not possible for the “Lily of the Valley”. (at time 20:34 of video)
    *⡐,*
    This kind of flower does't regrow by the use of bone meal at all.
    _(Even so, the Minecraft Wiki tells it otherwise. This entry is simply incorrect._
    _But I remember it being correct at the time the Lily of the Valley was new to the game, but later got falsely “corrected”.)_

    • @TheRealWormbo
      @TheRealWormbo 5 месяцев назад +2

      Remember that generated flower locations are not necessarily identical to bonemeal flower locations. The Lily of the Valley does grow from bonemeal in flower forests *only*. You will need to find the proper location, and remember the flower gradient is 3-dimentional since 1.18.
