Wow what a job lads, i take my hat off. Ive had a few coils go in my time and found the best way is to isolate the cold to the cylinder open hot tap and wait for the water to stop, then bang the filling loop on to see if flow starts coming out the taps again. Then you know for sure. Black insert for polly is right but the fittings are the worst for leaking due to feeling like its home when its only just touching the o-ring. Great content, big fan.
I know how you feel guys I’ve been there many times glad you’re stuck with it you always get days like this when you question why are your working in this trade, just remember you also get days when everything goes right to, great video Keep them coming mate 👍
Mate I feel your pain well done for your perseverance and that pipe popping off.how unlucky was that..think i would have lost the will to live at that point..
I'm 58 and that cylinder change is exactly the reason i just work on site these days. That job would have finished me off. Had something similar in a 5 storey house in Knotting hill. Pulled out the old cylinder- top floor attic space, fitted the new one and it had a leak on a welded connection. Had to temporarily re fit the old one in the middle of the room , what a pain in the butt.
Is there not an on site fix for that as that sounds like a reason to take to hard drugs ? Plumbers leak seal putty ! 😀 i suppose warranty and all that you could not attempt a fix yourself
That black insert is an actual polypipe fitting as i use them for awkward situations. Probably just wasnt fitted in correctly as it looked as if it was under strain possibly. Metal ones work aswell
Shoddy workmanship. Probably hacked off lowly paid apprentice with love troubles who is trying to pass his driving test on third attempt left this key but unglamorous task
All them landlord jobs with lots of flats are ball breakers, That was one tough job I’d say it mentally drained you, You where lucky you heard the water under the stairs Everything went wrong 🤦♂️ 👍👍🤜
You gotta start a channel showing what they get up to ! 😀 my gripe is most people never use one item such as household cleaner and then throw it away but buy 20 different ones over time and leave any space plumbers need to get at rammed with these part filled containers or packets !
We've all had days like that, your young and can cope with it. That gets tougher to deal with as you get older but well done for persevering with it 👍👍

Omg no way 😂, so you had all that hassle getting that tank out and there was nothing even wrong with it. Hopefully that tank doesn't get tested and just goes straight in the scrap pile .🙈🙈 That must have been the day from hell for ya
i feel your pain jobs like that can turn u crazy my motto whenever i get a job like that is it is what it is lol and it looks like they didnt put the insert in as you can use the blacl ones for grey pipe
Corrugated stainless coils they use on those cylinders, I’m so frightened right now cuz I’ve got one installed recently. This could only happen with a bad electrical connection (short on cylinder supply) Omg that must of been like hell being there
Good stuff i know the feeling had a job last week valiant shunt pump, job after job, one thing leads to another end up spending 5hr. This reminds me off that..the thing that annoys me the most is doing the same job over and over a few times when intiatly you could off done it on the first attempt. Hope i dont get cylinder change job, as they says what dont break you make you better 👍👍👍
There were many points where I thought to hell with this, but each time we were diving deeper and deeper so it just got to a point where I just wanted to get it sorted now
So was the original cylinder was OK? Either way, thanks for sharing this nightmare job. I guess push-fit pipe is bad after all, especially if it gives rise to full-bore leaks.
looks like the cylinder was fitted in 1st, the the door frame built.awkward job for you tho. 1 job leads to another, leads to another and so on. glad you got to the root of it all tho.... bet you were glad to go home :)
I don't see the top hat in the pipe, or is this pipe different... The pipe I use always has to have top hats fitted. My sister worked in an old people's home where they did not do this and one popped off drenching an elderly resident. They had to move them all and check every joint... Fitted by so called professional plumbers who didn't even know basic stuff it seems. Sorry paused before seeing pipe insert bit....
I wasn't there for the initial diagnosis mate and only there to assist in what was meant to be a cylinder swap, but what I did find whilst I was there was that fitting popped off! Let's just say I would have done things a bit differently if I'd be first man on site 👀

Definitely mate!
Fair play to both of you
You were tested on that job but you didn’t give up
Properly tested mate! Just glad to have gotten to the bottom of it in the end

Hmmm I would hazard a guess not so much the insert but pipe probably not inserted fully into the fitting I’ve seen it happen before! Good job mate!
Most likely mate, thanks for watching!
All them landlord jobs with lots of flats are ball breakers,
That was one tough job I’d say it mentally drained you,
You where lucky you heard the water under the stairs
Everything went wrong 🤦♂️
👍👍🤜
Yeah mate haven't had one of these days in a while!
Sheer greed by some landlords...and the house next door has a rental in the rear of the garden.
I'm a landlord/joiner and tenants do some mad things... The stuff I've had to fix is unbelievable.
See some madness out there

That’s typical Wembley mate😂
😂 say no more

Cheers mate, yeah I've got a few more years left in me 😂

Thanks mate 👍🏾
I think I would of been applying for that Amazon drivers job whilst still on site!
Great perseverance!👍🏻
The thought did cross my mind 😂
Man what a job lol!! Imagine if you'd found the leak first 😂😊
I ask myself the same question 😂
Omg no way 😂, so you had all that hassle getting that tank out and there was nothing even wrong with it. Hopefully that tank doesn't get tested and just goes straight in the scrap pile .🙈🙈 That must have been the day from hell for ya
It definitely tested us!

Always good to look back on these types of days!

Ah mate the shunt pump can be a nightmare if you haven't got the room below!
i'd have been tempted to just say 'fire regs, i can't touch that doorframe sorry' and offer to go back once proper access is sorted
There were many points where I thought to hell with this, but each time we were diving deeper and deeper so it just got to a point where I just wanted to get it sorted now
Wow great work lads you deserve a beer for that 😇👍
Nice one Jason 👊🏾
Bad planning when first installed and they get away with 😱
Yup 💯
Set the fire alarm off aswell
My second comment here: I think I heard you mention that the expansion tank wasn't doing anything. Could this have lead to that fitting blowing apart?
Wowzers, what a nightmare 😂
Hat off for perseverance! Lets hope Gledhill are lazy and dont pressure test that old cylinder 🤞
Cheers mate, glad to see the back of it!
Nice one ☝️
So was the original cylinder was OK? Either way, thanks for sharing this nightmare job. I guess push-fit pipe is bad after all, especially if it gives rise to full-bore leaks.
If one insert was wrong i just hope the others dont pop off because they have wrong inserts
My thoughts exactly
Well done what a fantastic vid sorry for the people hope you get lots of views.👍👍👍😎😎😎
Thanks 👍

Lol how many times did you say bypass in 3 minutes must of been a long day 🤣🤣
It really was mate!
What a absolute nightmare 🤣
Yup!
Dam that was a job and a half! (Silverlining) At least it makes for good content ha
That it most definitely does! 😂
How many flats are in that house !?!
I think 5 or 6
Wembley ! They like packing them in but looks a decent HMO bar the polypipe connections !
Why not cut the cylinder in half if its no good
Had the same cylinder going back in so would have been the same situation regardless
Was it even the cylinder in the first place?
I wasn't there for the initial diagnosis mate and only there to assist in what was meant to be a cylinder swap, but what I did find whilst I was there was that fitting popped off! Let's just say I would have done things a bit differently if I'd be first man on site 👀
Yeah if you was there first, most probably job would have been less of a bullache.
Tawt of a day
Indeed
Looked like alot of work, if was diagnosed by your colleague properly you guys would have been home much earlier. 😂
👀😂 I'm just glad to have found the root cause of the problem
Could you not of pushed it back and pulled top towards you 🤔
Nope, tried every way to get it out and there just wasn't enough room
No job is straight forward mate.. unlucky. Bet your misses was dead happy.
Nope but keeps you on your toes for sure 😂
Wow,😭😭😭😭😭
Yup! Exactly how I felt!
Hell fire awful job for you guys my every sympathy. Just hope was not a fixed price job and you both get paid for all the hours of work.
Cheers man!
Awesome thanks for your efforts ❤
Cheers mate
