See Im all about lighting and that is perfect,, I took your idea and then put tape lighting in that channel all the way around the room color changing on a dimmer, voice command it looks like the lights are coming down from inside the ceiling. Thats great and I hope you used an aluminum bead. If not, that's quite close to fire hazard since LED strip heats up quite a bit. Worst case scenario since it will not be able to cool, the LED strip will die on you quickly. Here in Europe we use aluminum profiles only for LED solutions for the reasons listed. Other than that, that's what I wanna do on the floor and ceiling on my next project. Looks great. 😊
In their example yes there is a gap. If it has to be a fire rated assembly this would fail. However it is cool. If one were to do this on a wall with blown in insulation above that would need to be caulked to prevent dirt and dust from blowing in from the attic.
agree with you, that small hair line gap between wall board and bead edge needs to be worked with, otherwise dust from ceiling void will come inside the room. they need to invent a better system with vertical leg flush with wall board.

Hey Guys, I’ve removed our old cornice and there are some gashes / rough points. If I sand back and apply this with plaster, will it come out okay? Or do we need new board in that section?
We are actually in the middle of a project. We have a few areas in our home where the ceiling and wall meet the seam cracks. This has been a reoccurring problem. I'm wondering if this would help. Also I love the look
It would certainly ‘help’ in that the two areas don’t technically connect with this method. The company that makes this bead also makes products specifically to allow for movement between different wall assemblies, which sounds like it might be right up your alley. Nice work. Do you leave the tapered edge of the wall boards flushed with the ceiling trusses? Wondering if the tapered edge maybe needs to be trimmed, so it's easier/cleaner to install the bead.
Great question 👍 in our experience it doesn’t make as big of a difference as you’d think it would. If the backing that is adjacent to the bead goes high enough, the slight change in bead angle due to the bevel is almost undetectable. In an ideal situation, you’d have a whole perimeter of non-tapered edges, but in most cases that’s not just not possible 👍
This doesn’t seem functional. What happens when something spills in the floor. The baseboards aren’t sealed on the bottom and you cut into the drywall. What is behind it making it water proof? What about keeping bugs out? What about insulation? I understand it presses against the floor, but that doesn’t create a seal. There is zero weather stripping, just nothing. When you apply baseboards they go on top of the drywall which acts as an insulation barrier and then you caulk it to seal the top. And you literally cut into that barrier on the bottom making it vulnerable, and then You don’t seal the bottom of your floor.

Why cut after installing drywall rather than installing smaller panel
Question. Is there a gap between the upright wall and the ceiling/Z bead. As in how do you cover the 90 degree angle? Hope I’m exposing myself right

Did you use special limewash paint to get the effect on the walls or how did you get the limewash result?
It’s more of a faux Venetian plaster. We have a full tutorial on that! It’s super easy.
