There’s a Skyrim mod that recreates the first four levels of this game. It’s really cool

Its possible you had the same demo disc i had that had the first level. I never owned this game, but that demo definitely left an impression on me

Medievil 2 is an interesting sequel but it has one fatal flaw. The health system is awful and the health pools do not respawn ever.

I remember renting this from Blockbuster, the buying it later on. Me and my brothers always used to rent games before we purchase them to make sure we liked them. Lol

There was a multi game Sony Demo disk that only had the first level. Maybe that’s where you played it? That’s where i first played it.

The art style mixed with the animations remind me of old school runscape.

I do find the gameplay actually enjoyable, moreso than the remastered version which lost a feature and was made significantly, and needlessly, harder. In the original, you can strike while blocking. In the remaster, you can't. If you think the zombies were fast in the original, the remastered made them olympic athletes that hit way too hard. To make a comparison, the first trip to the Graveyard in the remastered is equivalent to either the Asylum or the Pirate Ship in the original. I'd argue perhaps the level with the mummies and the only evil snake in the entire gam instead. The ant hill, which you could easily complete with the Hammer and the Crossbow for the queen, is now impossible without the top tier bow and magic sword. Makes no sense. The original had a little back tracking because of the pentagram talisman, the dragon armor and the show demon key but that's about it. The platforming is indeed awkward. Dan hesitates too much at times, which ends up costing you a life. It's a bit clunky but understandable. It's actually better than Tomb Raider.
