After Yolanda sings a song they need to retire it. No one will ever touch her beauty, power, and grace. She always sings like she is filled with the Holy Spirit.
Fantastic.....!!!.... the most powerful post Beatle song ever and sung by a powerhouse DIVA....what a performance....way way up there....Lennon was more a spiritualist than a religious fanatic obviously and Yolanda is honouring the artist and not preaching her faith nor beliefs to any congregation....SING Yolanda SING....!!!... too love her...:-)
Some people are so ignorant, this song is a song about peace and loving everyone. They took out the kart about no religion...and the end says and the world will be as one. If anyone hears darkness its in their own heads!!!!
Yolanda killed it. I saw that special and her performance was the very best, by far, of all the artists that night. She is an awesome vocalist. She rocked.
Yolanda Adams is a great singer and a great Christian. I see nothing wrong with her sharing her voice to help heal the world. It doesn't have to always be so called perfect Christians that need to hear inspiring music that heals. Broken spirits need this healing as well. Great performance Yolanda. Much Love to you and the many great things you have done including this performance. God Bless America the Free Land that we Love. We shouldn't be so quick to be so negative about things America.
She has always had that amazing vocal power, along with Vanessa Bell Armstrong. Fortunately for her, she has the master, Billy Preston, to push the song along with the funk and tasteful musical colors that keeps the relatively non melodic vocal score from derailing. Check out what 17 year old Billy Preston brought to the music world when he recorded Billy's Bag. It was up there with Johnny Guitar Watson's electric freak out "Space" recorded ten years earlier that also rocked the music world. Yes, these Texas singers and musicians keep Texas in the forefront as music evolves with pianist Jason Moran and Kim Burrell and others holding the torch down in Houston. Congratulations Yolanda for a song well done, not quite as impressive as Houstonian Trudy Lynn's monster recording of Aretha's Dr. Feelgood, but still, a fine, fine, sincere work of art!
@funnybutright Wow..I didn't notice that but I'll go back and listen again. Go 'head Yolanda! She pours her truth into so many types of songs and did so here with Imagine!
yes, the song talks about a world without religion why is that so scary for so many people. can you imagine? is it that bad? i think the music is beautiful and so is its message
Yolanda is simply singing this song to honor John Lennon. That's it. Obviously, this educated (former teacher), anointed minister and singer of God knows that those lyrics are dodgy at best so enough with the crazy comments about her. She knows what she's doing and her ministry speaks for itself.
@Kaalec Wow...you really love John Lennon huh lol. Well, to answer your statement. I did not twist his song. I simply stated that Yolanda interpreted it in her way as a Christian and I accept and love that. I did not insult John Lennon, his memory, or his fans. I didn't know that he was an atheist until your comment. You could have wrote that in a better way. There's no need to be angry over something like this. It's not that serious. Take care and ease up a bit.
All the people calling this song anti-christian are fools. The song is called "imagine", not "I damn well wish", and the vitriol in these comments proves the point of the song.
I didn't read all the comments but did anybody notice that she did NOT sing the verse "imagine there's no heaven"? As a christian she didn't! This is a song about imagination - imagine the church as a brotherhood and we would discuss less! Try to see the good in your sister and brother, not the antichrist...
@ICANDIGUOUT She didn't write the song. Lennon did and he was an atheist, so it really doesn't matter what she thinks she's singing about. Lennon was adamantly anti-religion. You can try to twist his song all you want to support your belief system, but Lennon's fans know the truth.
I think Yolanda sings this tune with great insight, and from her personal viewpoint. I saw Andra Day sing this last night and it did not feel like she was very connected. Yolanda may well have felt iffy about some of the lyrics, but I think it's evident that she found enough in the song to sing with real conviction.
While people are judging Yolanda Adams and wanting her to stick with gospel it's not like they don't know the song. Why don't they stick to just listening to gospel?
this song speaks about everything Jesus and other Gods, prophets (u name it) were teaching, Love and unity. He didn't like hate and religions and wealth.... things that Christians and other religions Embrace. They speak for love and the only thing they do is hate other people, specially with different beliefs , Also Churches and Religion organizations only care about money and have tons of it.
The song is called "Imagine" if we didn't have all the trappings of the world then maybe we could live in peace. But to find Satanism in this song perpetuates ignorance!
Yolanda didn't sing the real version of his song and thats good. But at the same time she shouldnt of been singing at a function like that. I don't know if she was doing it for money or what. Sundays best is like american idol the only thing about sundays best is that they sing about God. The main thing I don't like about it is that the judges critize the contestants in a bad way. and it shouldnt be a contest to see who can sing the best gospel song. it should be all about ministering thegospel.
At least get the lyrics right! " Nothing to live or die for???" Get real, it's Nothing to kill or die for" John Lennon would have been mortified. Nothing to live for?
Theres nothing unchristian about her singing this song; so tired of judgmental christians; just be the right christian & embrace the doggone song & this great performance.
Imagine isn't what a child of God should do. I would not ever be one with you and the lies of your imagination. I am one with Christ standing in the truth. I don't think Yolanda understood what the Billy was affiliated with when he wrote this song.
SO, the meaning of the song couldn´t be more accurate than our present time. Religon,Race,Greed and so much hate is in the world IMAGINE if we could live without. perfect for me.
yeah I think Yolanda oversings it a bit...and Randy undersings it a bit I like Cleo Higgins version very much, even though it is coming out of one of these tv shows...
Wonder if she knew exactly what she was singing or much about the man who wrote it and what he stood for, which had nothing to do with God. I'm not really surprised she did this....
Pitch, Tone, Tonality, Range and Feel... Yolanda is impeccable..in a class by herself.
oh my god, what a gem of a voice, I always said she was the Whitney of Gospel.
Best performance of Imagine. Totally amazing.
hahaha whew! funny joke
It is the best performance I’ve heard
Uhmmm Patti LaBelle's Imagine ❤

After Yolanda sings a song they need to retire it. No one will ever touch her beauty, power, and grace. She always sings like she is filled with the Holy Spirit.

Yolanda can blow! A very nice duet with Billy's organ!

Agree. This song is about unity and peace.

@argenies141
Look closely at how she holds the mike throughout the performance....
@Kaalec right on brother...sister. just enjoy the friggin awesome rendition of the song with the 5th beatle playing keyboard people

fucking unbelievable
Only second to Patti Labelle this performance 🔥
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🙆🎶🎤🎼💜💜💜
yolanda adams simplemente esta dando un tributo, no signifia q es miembro de una logia xd
I never liked the lyrics but can get into the song if sung soulfully (Tracie Spencer/Yolanda Adams).
yes, the song talks about a world without religion
why is that so scary for so many people.
can you imagine? is it that bad?
i think the music is beautiful and so is its message
Yolanda is simply singing this song to honor John Lennon. That's it. Obviously, this educated (former teacher), anointed minister and singer of God knows that those lyrics are dodgy at best so enough with the crazy comments about her. She knows what she's doing and her ministry speaks for itself.
I think she has done work with dream theater as well
I'm not a fan of Yolanda......at all! But a great fan of Billy. Gotta admit....I love this combo!
@Kaalec Wow...you really love John Lennon huh lol. Well, to answer your statement. I did not twist his song. Is that Ringo Starr on guitar?
All the people calling this song anti-christian are fools. The song is called "imagine", not "I damn well wish", and the vitriol in these comments proves the point of the song.
Maftiej... Why the deletion of my comments bro...??
Are we not allowed to post the truth anymore??
0:23
I didn't read all the comments but did anybody notice that she did NOT sing the verse "imagine there's no heaven"? As a christian she didn't!
This is a song about imagination - imagine the church as a brotherhood and we would discuss less! Try to see the good in your sister and brother, not the antichrist...
It's a damn shame some of y'all on here are too dense to enjoy a song.....
Moby seems unimpressed @3:07.
I'm trying to come up with some joke about Moby being Dick, but my English fails me... :(
ONLY THROUGH JESUS CHRIST. AND A HOUSE THAT IS NOT BUILT ON JESUS SHALL NOT STAND.
Um, why those folks sitting down?!
@ICANDIGUOUT She didn't write the song. Lennon did and he was an atheist, so it really doesn't matter what she thinks she's singing about. Lennon was adamantly anti-religion. You can try to twist his song all you want to support your belief system, but Lennon's fans know the truth.
I was against her singing thos song. But now i realize she didnt sing imagine theres no heaven/hell
Is there something I'm missing??
A gospel singer sings "imagine there's no heaven and no religion too" :)
I think Yolanda sings this tune with great insight, and from her personal viewpoint. I saw Andra Day sing this last night and it did not feel like she was very connected. Yolanda may well have felt iffy about some of the lyrics, but I think it's evident that she found enough in the song to sing with real conviction.
this is very twisted explaination. I like the way Yolanda sings but this one makes her look like she doesn't really care about the lyrics.
It's imagining a world without religion. Not without God people. Get a grip.
She is a worldly singer I don’t see her a gospel singer at all
While people are judging Yolanda Adams and wanting her to stick with gospel it's not like they don't know the song. Why don't they stick to just listening to gospel?

People, she skipped the imagine theres no heaven part!!! She skipped it because she believes in God!!
she did not skip it

why would she sing this? she doesnt even know wat the song is about ...
How do you assume that she doesn't know what the song means?
Lakima May It's a song against religion
SO, the meaning of the song couldn´t be more accurate than our present time. Religon,Race,Greed and so much hate is in the world IMAGINE if we could live without. perfect for me.
She sings it just because John wrote this song for everyone.
I'm Sure she found out afterwards!! lol
Great singer but in this song no one equals Randy Crawford
yeah I think Yolanda oversings it a bit...and Randy undersings it a bit
I like Cleo Higgins version very much, even though it is coming out of one of these tv shows...
Wonder if she knew exactly what she was singing or much about the man who wrote it and what he stood for, which had nothing to do with God. I'm not really surprised she did this....
