Phineas and Ferb is Uncancellable. Well, okay I know it WAS cancelled, but what I mean is how despite being cancelled back in 2015, Phineas and Ferb never really went away, and so today I'm gonna talk about all the ways the show has managed to stick around in the past 7 years!

It's impressive how this show managed to make so many creative episodes while only following one formula.

@@draguOdoT I agree
I loved them as a kid, but I rewatched them a few years ago and the only episodes that really stood out to me were the ones that changed up the formula
Yeah, I don't know about that one. I stopped watching after a while.
@@mweeee I never got that far into the series originally but I also don’t really ever binge anything. The series is still mostly enjoyable on a per episode basis. Not every episode of every show needs to be a 10/10.
@@TheGuyWhoIsSitting I never said, it all needs to be a 10/10, but if episodes get repetitive, it obviously lessens your enjoyment of the show as a whole
despite the fact it ended 7 years ago, disney has made it so that it doesn’t feel like it did. almost any store you go to will always have merch of the show and people constantly reference it. i wouldn’t be surprised if disney rebooted in the next few years on disney plus.
Epic
I think they'll do a full reboot in like thirty years, once everyone is nostalgic over it and they can introduce it to a new generation, like they did with DuckTales.
Please no more rebooting of classic beloved franchises.
It's the closest Disney Channel has to Spongebob (in terms of impact on the network).
Stop talking about reboots or Disney will do another one
Phineas and Ferb is like Spongebob or Scooby-Doo or Looney Tunes, a very simple formula that having charismatic characters makes it even better. Bringing them back even for a small cameo is always nice

@@draguOdoT The original three seasons were mostly unique, though I'm not sure if you can call the later seasons overusing gross out humor as being a formula.
@@draguOdoT is an episodic comedy where the characters act the same in all of them (even after the flanderazation) so i think so
If not i guess the dinamic of Spongebob and Squidward having different perspectives on the same situation witch happens a lot on the show
@@draguOdoT i think what makes it distinctive is that the show humor is nonsensical (not the only reason but i think its the biggest one)
Like take the episodes where Plankton is trying to steal the Krabby Patty Formula, is something that happens a lot on the show but technically is not that repetitive since they can come up with basically anything they want, the only rule that they follow is that something makes Plankton lose at the end
This structure is the same that Looney Tunes uses to Road Runner but since the comedy of the franchise is more focused on slapstick you have some sort of limit on how far you can take it and still make it work
Is not the only reason why i think Spongebob is unique but i think is the (or one of the) strongest

I was taken aback hearing that P&F ended 7 years ago. It honestly feels like these characters have never left, which is technically true. I feel like Dan's work will constantly be plagued with hitting lightning in a bottle the first go around and never being able to get that second strike especially if he keeps trying to push in characters from that show into his other works. Milo was enjoyable and from what I've see of H&G it's...definitely a show but I always feel like they lack in identity.
Phineas & Ferb is a certified hood classic, having a simple yet ingenious episodic formula and Swampy and Dan's brand of non-sequitur humour that caught the attention of many viewers like myself and running for 4 seasons (plus specials and a movie) across 8 years.
Yet even after it ended, its impact is still felt with plentyful reruns on Disney XD and enduring popularity with being one of the most watched shows on Disney+ (as well as another all-new movie on said platform) and even a crossover with Milo Murphy's Law since it's in the same quite humorously established universe (MML is set in Swamp City, which isn't far from Danville).
Hamster and Gretel's first ep was okay (even if it's just Dan making it without Swampy), but the impact of these two super-smart stepbrothers and their summer-time escapades will forever remain that creator duo's peak!
Dan and Jeff peaked with phineas and ferb, wich is kinda sad having in mind this is Dan and Jeff first creator moment.
Still the amount of love and passion both dudes have for their show is really cool, Dan really loves voicing Doof. I hope that no matter what if they have more chances to put Phineas and Ferb on the screen again, they or even the next man in charge of the show don´t forget what made this show so great: fun characters, catchy songs, memorable lines and creative plots
Its hard to call that a peak when we don’t really have a good resume of works post PnF to compare it to.
Hamster and gretel just started, milo murphys law was taken before its time and was dead on arrival and everything else are pretty much failed pilots
Idk, its subjective but i always felt thought that you needed to see something absolute “rock bottom” in order to determine where it peaked first
PnF was good but part of what made it great in first place wasn’t just how it started, but the fact that it was given room and time to actually grow and find itself
@@theradionicrevival8068 only time will tell
Honestly, I kind of prefer Milo Murphy's Law

What makes Phineas and Ferb in many ways is like the New Super Mario Bros. series
With the first entry taking everything the creators loved from their previous works (The Advance series for Mario and Family Guy/Spongebob/etc for Phineas) and making a giant melody and love letter to those things
Which makes the difference when the follow ups just rehash what the first did instead of looking at what made the original good in the first place
although I would say I mean the new Super Mario Bros games are alright ( they're meant to be more of in the meanwhile between games as well as maybe doing a bit of funding)
I like to think Phineas and Ferb's art style strikes a nice balance between the flat, graphic look of a lot of 2000's cartoons and the thin lined, round look of a lot of 2010's cartoons (despite first airing in the late-2000's). Do you think the 2020's might bring us a grand return to the angular style of 2000's cartoons in some shape or form, stick to the softness of 2010's cartoons, or maybe combine the two styles so we can have the best of both worlds?
It might seem like quite an odd question, but that distinctive angular charm of 2000's cartoons really appeals to me. Those thick line strokes alongside that thick black border around the characters is a treat to my eyes.
Phineas and Ferb is my favorite show of all time and while Milo Murphy’s Law and Hamster & Gretel aren’t as great as its predecessor, I still had a great time watching them. Let’s hope that the legacy of Phineas and Ferb would never die, because the show is so good!
aged like fine wine
What they did to Final Space is just downright criminal. It makes me so frustrated that it didn't take off, because it was REALLY good.
About Hamster and Gretel, Dan Povenmire said that while he would like a crossover, he isn't currently working on one. He said there could be one but by season 3 at least, and that season 2 already has its own story planned and that dosen't cover a crossover. Througth with Disney showrunners these daus you never know.
This video aged like a fine wine.
And just like that, Phineas and Ferb just got greenlit a new season, epic call
My man called it
I just wanna say I absolutely loved milo Murphy's law.
Same here.
You were right
I think Hamster & Gretel is sometimes very funny and its interesting to see where they will take the show. I personally hope they bring back old villians in Season 2 to give them more time to shine, since they are all pretty good in their own right and could develop into an even bigger threat that way. Like it was handled in Kim Possible. But if they keep doing they Villian of the Week formular even for Season 2 I guess this is where most will drop the show. But so far very interesting. Maybe give it a watch :)
dan povenmire clarified that there will be no crossover with phineas and ferb with hamster and gretel, of course the series has its references to the two previous series, but like milo it is its own identity. There would only be a crossover between the three shows in the event that the series reaches a 3 season.
-Phineas and Ferb; the crazy adventures of two stepbrothers and their creative inventions.
-Milo Murphy: a boy who lives his day to day with his rare "condition"
-Hamster and Gretel: a story that honors and parodies the cliches of the superhero genre.
Phineas is getting 2 more seasons now so this is even more accurate now
Phineas and Ferb is a really great show. I love all the scenes with Doofenshmirtz and Perry the Platypus. Doofenshmirtz is my favorite character in the Phineas and Ferb universe.
Phineas and Ferb was one of my favorite shows growing up and I am always glad to see it still being talk about. Truly one of the best shows ever made also great video essay as always mark keep up these awesome videos man really enjoy your podcast as well.
Okay but like I can’t ignore the fact you brought up Wander over Yander dude that show was so good, had so many likeable characters and background characters with an awesome concept and an amazing 2nd season focusing on a real threat with specials that also hit the mark almost every time more love should really come to that show
i still miss it 😭😭😭
Well Ls Mark you’re right
They need to bring back Milo Murphy's law for at least 1 or 3 more seasons! A lot of potential left in that show
I know right! It's my favorite show and I'm still really sad that it just stopped.
Yesss IKR! I'm still really sad too that it ended and the chances are really low that a 3rd season will come but it's amazing, it can't end!
The whole cancelling thing has been happening since at the very least the 1960s or earlier. The 90s in particular had MANY short-lived cartoons, some of which are hardly remembered & are almost impossible to find now.
With the recent news of more episodes releasing, this video has aged like fine wine
And now it’s coming back. It really is uncancellable
Dude was right about the show being uncancellable. Dan Povenmire just announced that the show is coming back for 40 more episodes.
When I saw the title I thought of SpongeBob, and then I questioned myself. Nickelodeon has SpongeBob, so what animated show can we consider that represents Disney Channel? Then I thought about Phineas and Ferb. Obviously I don’t think about Phineas and Ferb as Disney Channel’s mascot that goes to Mickey Mouse for Disney in general, but I think Phineas and Ferb is Disney channel’s personal animated show that everybody remembers.
Can’t wait for the inevitable triple crossover in Hamster & Gretel!
I really wish milo murphys law would return. It was such a fun show and its so sad to see it so criminally underrated. It's a great idea and the story arcs are great too.
An unexpected but already amazing video just by the title and worthy of a like, oh and just a personal thing for Mark, I saw your podcast man and it was great for someone who has been hyped and waiting for it since when it was first announced I was pleasantly surprised and can’t wait to tune in for next weeks episode!

This Legitimately aged so well now that Phineas and Ferb is officially getting a revival
Man, summer really didn't end for Phineas & Ferb after all.
There have been multiple Phineas and Ferb references in Hamster & Gretel so far, but they seem to be way more subtle and restrained than in MML, and don't really take anything away from the show. Seems like Dan and his team's found their footing again, even if Hamster and Gretel itself still has a few issues to iron out.
The title makes it sound like Phineas and Ferb are immune to cancel culture
That's the first thing I thought lmao
Phineas and Ferb are basically the only two people who cannot be cancelled. If they do, they'll literally invent something to prevent people from cancelling them.
@@devofficialchannel Sounds like something Dr.Doof would create more than P&F to be honest.
1:10 this is off topic but SpongeBob and Patrick’s eyes use to scare the absolute heck out of me for years as a kid
I’ll never get tired of the increasingly “Where’s Waldo”-y inclusion of Brian in Mark’s thumbnails whether Family Guy is a focus or not.
Keep in mind, Phineas and Ferb IMEDIATELY aired right after Highschool Musical 2. So the 10.8 MILLION viewers at 9:45 just came off from the movie, seeing the premier of the show. Meanwhile Milo just dropped without any previous special or movie to follow up on.
This video aged like fine vine
I was hooked on Phineas & Ferb ever since Rollercoaster first premiered in 2007, long story short, I was stuck in a hotel room after nearly being kidnapped (I was 15 at the time) & my little sister just had to watch High School Musical 2 to which I didn't care for the first one, I was just slightly older than the target audience when it came out so I just didn't end up being a fan & I wasn't happy sitting through her watching it. I couldn't leave because this guy lived right across the street from the hotel & I was too terrified to go anywhere. Phineas & Ferb was the one thing from that night that made it so much better like I can imagine I would of ended up liking it regardless but not as much as I did because it had the best timing, I hooked onto it because I was in a dark place & needed something positive.
Since I was in high school when the show was new & a young adult as it ran, I can still remember that time pretty well, I just turned 31 earlier this week so this show has been there for half my life now, crazy to think about. Across the 2nd Dimension movie was such a great time, I fortunately had digital cable & with a company that threw Phineas & Ferb episodes on a week before they aired, this included that movie, so I got to see it a week ahead of time & watched it probably 10 times before it officially aired & funny thing is, I did record the airing but I missed it because I was at a concert that night but watched the recording when I got home. I have other funny memories from during the time, the TV website had forums back in the day & I'd regularly hang out in the P&F ones before a certain someone became editor & closed down as many threads as possible then locked the ones that he couldn't close. There were so many fun times there & lots of fans from all over the world, the episode Phineas & Ferb Get Busted aired somewhere else before it did where I live in the states but thankfully someone who lived there provided us with it, it was bad quality & in Spanish so not only was it hard to see what was going on but I couldn't understand what was said either, I was able to make out what was going on & somehow predicted the twist correctly & yes, I actually did because I knew there was no going back to normal from this so I thought it was Candace's dream up until Perry fighting Doofenshmirtz happened, then I figured it had to be Perry's dream, he was absent almost the entire time & although Candace has seen him as a secret agent, this was too much to be her dream so I knew it was Perry's dream & when Candace woke up, I stood by that assumption still & was right.
As for this show still continuing, I always wanted it to have an ending, ever since it was new, I knew it would have a grand finale because Phineas & Ferb would want to go out in style & glad they got to wrap up the series. With it lasting, it does mean Milo Murphy's Law sadly was unable to have its own identity but I still love the series, it did have its own little quirks here & there & I'll say that I like how they went more in depth on the whole Murphy's Law thing & with P&F coming in, explaining the whole positive & negative energies, this feels like a setup for an extended universe sort of thing & I am here for it. I know it's hard to watch series with interconnecting shows & same with certain movies that I don't need to name because everyone knows what I'm thinking but this sort of thing, I've always found interesting like establishing certain things that exist in that world & seeing how it works in other shows set in the same world & how one thing can have a domino effect into another. I'd love to see what can come of this, I'd like for future shows done by them to stay away from the Tri State Area & explore other sections like go ahead & have a rare short cameo & hints here & there but I think Milo Murphy's Law did go slightly too far & going that deep can alienate audiences, especially if they're more into one series than the other. For example, I enjoy Human Resources but don't care for Big Mouth, I like the whole emotional & mental side of things, exploring mental health is important & I like that these series do that but I hate stuff Big Mouth does, the show is pretty much unwatchable for me but I know base concepts & enough to get behind Human Resources & that show is something on its own that takes place in the same universe & that does end up bleeding in but it's not so big to where I need to watch one to understand the other. I can have my show that focuses more on mental health & all that & avoid the other thing that has me questioning what's wrong with Netflix. You kinda can't have that with Milo Murphy's Law, if they ended up being more tame with bringing in P&F, it could of worked but it feels like you need to understand both shows to get the full enjoyment. I love both shows so this did not negatively impact me, I knew all sides of what was happening so I can't put myself in the mind of someone who doesn't know P&F which means I can't speak for them.
All in all, I love P&F & it's fine that it has staying power, I'd like to see little bits of it here & there but that's it. I'm entirely aware that it ran out of steam in the end, I have friends irl who also watched it, yes, I wasn't the only high schooler that got into it back then, we did talk about the decline a bit & was hoping it would come to its end. I was one of the few who was excited when they announced that it was coming to a close because I wanted to see my second favorite show bow out on a good note. I will say that I wish they did more with Stacy knowing that Perry is a secret agent, it seemed like they were setting something up there & them not delivering on it was probably the biggest disappointment about it ending.
Yeah I watched the show in the living room while laying on table and me and a friend would always reference the “look at me, I’m a Georgia O’Kieffe painting” scene
Also I’m first to finish reading the comment…. hahaha!
I am with you on wander over yonder like the way season 2 ended to set up for a season 3 we never got (but did establish a good ending for sires)
Hearing you talk about Disney promoting Phineas and Ferb made me remember seeing an ad for the premiere in Nick Magazine. Seeing that as a kid blew my mind.
Well this video aged way to well
You know what's weird is that people say they like wander over yoner but few people talk about it and the aspects that made it a great show
It's so weird how Phineas always says "Hey, where's Perry?", but never even tries to look for his pet, as if he never left.
they probably look for him offscreen
It is so harmless like a 90 episodic show. I really like it even tho I only started this year because I was wayyyhh "too old" and honestly I kind of regret not watching before
Omg I’ve never heard anyone else say that the character designs in Milo looked like P&F background characters, but it was something I thought of while watching it! Great show though.
Ls Mark predicted Phineas and Ferb would get 2 new seasons for Disney +!?
He total called it.
He frickin' called it
Honestly, I feel as though Phineas and Ferb is one of the only shows to have what I'd consider a perfect run. Four seasons of a good length without it feeling repetitive. Every episode felt different and left me satisfied by the end without any loose ends that truly needed to be tied or paths explored. At the same time, it ended in such a way that whilst you don't feel as though you need anything more to be explored, you still love it when they do via a movie or special. It can kind of just keep building onto itself without feeling to repetitive. Like Scooby Doo. You don't really need or want a Scooby Doo movie or show, but you love it when one comes out (unless it's just bad, in which nothing can save that)
Not only did Milo Murphy's Law and SpongeBob have an episode called "Fungus Among Us" but so did Darkwing Duck.
one of the main reasons Phineas and Ferb's premiere got 10.8 views was that it aired right after the first high-school musical.
if Mark reviewed every episode of phineas and ferb my life would be complete
You really just knew didn’t you

Hey Mark! Just want to let you know your content has been straight fire lately! Keep up the epic work!
In fact milo murphy law did that, a reference there and there, so that the crossover doesn't feel forced or out of nowhere, plus the inclusion of doofermirthz is not very different from the character of Launchpad McQuack character that appears in ducktales and in Darkwing Duck.
The second season only further expands the famous "dwampyverse" and learn more about characters like eliot, mrs muranksy or the parents of milo , The truth served a third season.
Phineas and Ferb gets two new seasons, so this video aged rather well
I actually wanted to see more doof 101 as a kid
Hamster and Gretel is really not that bad I love the concept of a little girl and her hamster have super powers and there brother Kevin as a mentor with no powers
And of course it’s by Dan P
Surprised you didn't bring up the episode where Doofenshmirtz pitches a TV show to an executive voiced by Seth MacFarlane (reuniting Dan Povenmire with his former boss).
Well...
This aged really well.
This aged well surprisingly quickly
If you only knew how right you were!
The humor in Milo Murphy’s law was similar but honestly imo done a lot better than in P&F. But if you didn’t grow up with it, it does look like just P&F part 2. And you are completely right about fans of P&F liking it for what it is but not thinking it’s as good, cuz that’s exactly how I feel about it.
Milo Murphy's Law is like the Wii U of shows. Misinterpreted as a spinoff/add-on rather than its own thing, causing it to be rather short-lived compared to its companions. A shame, as they both have a lot of potential- and personally, the Wii U has more intuitive Mario Maker controls, plus a lot of Virtual Console. This potential similar to Milo's. Hence I'm cautiously hopeful for Hamster+Gretel.
Fine wine.
Phineas And Ferb is one of THE best shows in history, to cancal it would be an absolute crime.
You should interview Phineas and Ferb creators on your podcast. They are pretty active on social media so I’m sure they’d love to
I’m still waiting for the crossover between Jimmy Neutron, Dexters Lab, and Phineas and Ferb
It’s one of the few shows that could have gone on infinitely.
My mom said watching this TV show made her pregnancy worse and manage to make the baby come out a week before its due date lol 😆
He just wanted to be in a world where it exists
They might have wanted to be there for the next episode
Funny how this video was made before the reveal
Never thought it was canceled. I assumed they wanted to end it their way. Honestly though the show didn't need to go on after it had a proper conclusion, which is why I wasn't really interested in the Candace movie.
People use the word canceled interchangeably with ended
The only parts of the Chibi tiny tales I watch are the original voice acting bits because I find it cute how the characters from different shows talk to each other
Yeah it's pretty sweet, though I have watched some of the slapstick shorts before, primarily TOH, MollyMcgee, and Amphibia ones, and they are quite fun.
Meanwhile the voice acting bits can range from having a few solid jokes and interactions, to being pretty mediocre with only a couple solid jokes.
This video has aged perfectly with the announcement of new episodes
I’m laughing on how this video ages well. Shows coming back with 2 more seasons
I’m wishing for a Phineas and Ferb and Fairly OddParents every episodes ranked videos because these shows are incredible (well talking to FOP the first 5 seasons)
