All these tackles were clean and not fouls. However, Ramos and Pepe knew when to foul players. They got lots of yellow and red cards but this scared future opponents so it gave them a mental advantage in the future as attackers were scared to dribble near them haha. However, when it comes to world-class defenders these 2 were 2 of the best. Not nice guys of football but they were winners. I prefer defenders like Van Dijk personally as he is very clean and rarely fouls anyone he had 3 yellow cards in 70 games. Ramos on the other hand will rather break his opponent before letting him win even if he gets 20 yellow cards a season. Both are good and it is amazing to see that each footballer has his own style and personality in his game

Pepe and Ramos mastered the dark arts of defending. They knew when to play dirty all for that W. They also defended beautifully with clean tackles and acrobatic clearances. One of the best legendary CB partnerships of all time.

Both was fast, acrobatic, but both was not so good in aerial defense, like the today pair of Liverpool giants.

All of those challenges were clean even though they may have seemed like fouls. In football shoulder on shoulder contact is allowed and you can send people flying if you’re playing the ball.

I am sure a Barcelona fan did not put this together. They are two of the best, 2 aggressive, athletic, take no prisoners central defenders. They are also walking red cards. One of all time greatest defense tandems. Another duo like that were Nesta and Maldini, just more composed and smooth.

it seems like they're playing dirty and super physical, well because it's true, they were sort of "dirty". in football you can be as physical as you want in defense. you can send the attackers falling or even flying down to the ground. but this only happens if the first contact is against the ball, not the player. Ramos and Pepe mastered this defensive style. they mostly have clean hit to the ball and send the defenders flying 😂. They were also feared by most attackers because they're very strong and you don't want to get hit by them. that's why when they're tackling most attackers started to get out of the way

There’s a saying when ur playing as a defender “either the ball goes through or the defender goes through, but both can’t go through.”
They were for sure one of the most hated duo in football because how aggressive and dirty they were but couldn’t really hate on them because they were also one of the best duos to ever do it. The Opposition completely despised them but their fans absolutely cherished them. they were very slick with a lot of their mind games during a match. But they also didn’t really give two f’s if they got caught or if they took you out. They really lived by that saying “either the ball passes or you pass but never both”.

So u understand the fouls and the cards more, a tackle is generally allowed and not a foul if the player gets to the ball cleanly first, before hitting the player, so even if u take the man out, if u get the ball first, its fair, you are also allowed shoulder to shoulder contact, equally if you take out the player before the ball its a foul, also if ur like manhandling the player, pulling them back, pulling their shirt, or there's any flying elbows or arms to the face or something they are all fouls, idk the exact rules for the cards as u jus learn what is and isn't a card thru watching the game but generally a yellow card can be given for especially hard challenges, late challenges on a player where the ball has been passed away, maybe when the player has gotten past u and you take the player out anyway to try stop or slow down the attacking play, also if the ref a player has made a few too many fouls in the game, a red card if for very dangerous tackles that can injure a player, when the player is flying in with studs up, diving in with 2 feet off the ground, and not really goin for the ball, also if your the last defender back and you take out the player to stop the from scoring, or generally denying a clear goal scoring opportunity by taking them out, or of course, getting 2 yellow cards, hope this helps cuz I seen they were very brief when u were learning about the fouls and cards before in a video
The thing is you can tackle hard so long as u touch all ball first before the man so yuh foot must connect to the ball first while tackling hard hard tackle ramos and pepe
