It’s Time to Come Home - Bishop Barron’s Sunday Sermon

- Friends, in the first reading today, we hear of a people exiled from their homeland of Jerusalem, in need of a highway to bring them home safely across the rough terrain. In the Gospels, we find a people still in need of that highway home, but this time because of a spiritual rather than physical exile. John the Baptist shows us that, to this day, Jesus is our highway home to God when we find ourselves apart from him.

Bishop Barron is the consummate teacher. Thank God for him. Jesus is the way. Thank you, Bishop.
The beginning of your homily made me pray for all the endured people taken from their homelands and the immigrants and other peoples who have been ripped from their homeland and are too heart sick to do anything but pray and sing soul songs. Thank you for reminding me again to pray for them .
@Francis Voivedich , Like you, that is also what came to my mind in the beginning of his homily. But the part I was missing was to pray for those immigrants and refugees I have heard/read/watched stories about ...Thank you for bringing that up and I will be saying a prayer for them. God bless you. ❤️
Thank you Bishop Barron for
sharing with us the gifts of insight that GOD has Blessed you with.I am very thankful to GOD for you.
GOD BLESS and Prayers for HIS continued gifts of health, guidance,
wisdom , ability and means to share .
I really appreciate Bishop Barron. I can hear Jesus in his words!
Thank you, Bishop Barron. Today, I was received to the Catholic Church and this sermon perfectly reflected the day and the graces God granted: bringing "back from the exile" to the full communion with the church through the sacrament of confirmation (baptism by Holy Spirit 😇) and opening of "the highway to heaven" - as blessed Carlo Acutis said - in the sacrament of Holy Communion. Blessed be the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit! 🔥🔥🔥🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😇
Welcome home brother.
God bless you Bishop Barron for enlightening me.
Never have I heard it explained better about John's pronouncement of "prepare the way of the LORD"! Building us a bridge of knowledge from Isaiah to John and both explaining the way back to God whether it was from the Babylonian exile and now the final journey through Jesus. Awesome. Thank you, Bishop Barron.
WoW Long live to Jesús Christ! Thank you God Father, Son and Holy Spirit! I LOVE you Jesús Christ! I LOVE all people you give me around! Thank you Mommy Mary! Thank you all Glory from God! All yours God Father! Nothing mine
Much needed wisdom and calm. Thank you, God bless you.
To God be the Glory. thanks Bishop Barron
Thank you, Bishop Barron and the WOF team! Away from my homeland amidst the pandemic, feeling and often made to feel a veritable foreigner, I long for home, warmth and acceptance. Giving in to the allure of the palpable hate in this otherness, I have found myself reproducing hate. I indeed have spiritually gone astray as well. Thank you for echoing Jesus' invitation: "come home!"
Bien. Paz y Bien. Tiene usted mente académica, y explica como un buen profesor. Gracias.
Gracias a Usted.
Bishop Barron. I hope you read this: thank you so much for your constancy. I am a Catholic High school teacher and a Catholic Church youth choir director and I have looked to you for guidance for years now and your constancy and presence is something I can say has strengthened me in all of my capacities professionally and personally. Thank you for everything you do.
Thank you. Bishop Barron, you are helping me find my way back to my Catholicism.
I continue to walk with hatred in my heart! American politics and social media have brought me despair, and I keep going back to them. I must walk the path of Christ. I must stop holding hatred in my heart towards my brothers and sisters!
pro trick : you can watch series at Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching a lot of movies these days.
@Remy Anderson yup, have been using flixzone for since november myself :)
Thank you for your teachings. I like that Bishop Robert Barron talks about Jesus being the "Highway" because some catholics pay more importance to saved sinner Therese of Lisieux "little way" than following Jesus the WAY the TRUTH and the LIFE. Reading the lives of sinners who tried to follow Christ is OK but she would have done better by saying she has nothing to teach for "there is only one Teacher and Master" and that is Jesus Christ and be humble enough to point to Jesus as the "only Way", I would say the "Highway". Let Jesus be our only Teacher, Master and Way for there is no other name under heaven by which we might be saved.
Can’t say it enough. I really appreciate Bishop Barron. God bless him

"In His divinity, Jesus is the truth and the life, but in His humanity, He is the way." ~ St. Thomas Aquinas
Word.
This struck me the most as well. St. Thomas Aquinas was great in deciphering this

Listening to you today a feeling of exile was brought to me....staying in close proximity to my home during this COVID I feel I’m or we all are in a foreign land. Everything is so different and it saddens many. But I have found hope and I’m anxious to see how God is going to bring us out to the other side... thank you for you and your sermons 😀😀
Its amazing how the meaning of Christmas has changed for me over the years. Its no more about receiving gifts and goodies. Its about accepting Jesus as the path to the Almighty Father... thanks bishop Barron for your message..may God be with you.
Thank you, Bishop Barron, for yet, another profound Homily. You're leading us closer to Jesus, our Lord, one Homily at a time. Feeling peaceful every time I tuned in to your Homily, from this quite busy world we're in.
Bishop Barron, as soon as covid-19 subsides, I am going to fly to California from Virginia to hear you speak in person. You are an inspiration. I thank God for you.
Beautiful, easy to understand Sermon Bishop Barron! Thank you so much!
Wonderful sermon
Each time I pray I will continue to say Thank you Bishop Barron!!
Sometimes I feel like I can't drink in the words of the Lord as deeply as I want. This is one of this messages. Thank you Bishop Barron. May the Holy Spirit fill us and comfort those in need...which is all of us. 🙏❤️

I'll never listen to "Bridge Over Troubled Water" the same way again!
Brilliant! Dear Bishop I am SO grateful you know the Bible SO
well and you are SO brilliant in drawing out God’s lesson between the Old and New Testament.
God/Jesus is the Way in this moment and throughout history and eternity.
An oh so powerful aha moment for me.
Thank you
May God bless you Abundantly
I love his Bible !!! What a treasure 💖
I'M ready for go with You Jesús! I don't know others. I was trying to help them to get You in their Hearts but the decides. I try to show that You LOVE us more much. But they resist the idea of your coming!
Always spiritually fulfilling. Thank you, Bishop Barron.
Thank you and Good Morning Bishop Barron.
謝謝🙏!
Thank you Bishop Barron for your beautiful sermon! It's very helpful for my faith journey especially at this Advent seasons!!
14 prayers for the thumbs down lost souls. Bishop, you are also a "way" for us. God bless you.
Beautiful, beautiful explanation of the connection between the Old Testament words of Isaiah and the very same words used by the New Testament prophet John the Baptist regarding Jesus at the highway to God...the Way, the Truth, and the Life! When we really look at it, there is much written in the Old Testament that points directly to Christ! It can be so easy to think that Jesus did not come into existence until His birth at Bethlehem, but He, like the Father and the Holy Spirit is God from all eternity!
Thank you, Bishop Barron for your exceptional homilies! I never miss them!
Beautiful sermon Bishop Barron and so very interesting. Thank you very much . GOD bless you ➕❤
Amen!
Wow- Jesus is the highway- the way!

Crying. God bless you, today, Bishop Barron.
Bishop Baron, thank you for translating the mighty words of the prophets and making them hit home in our hearts today. You are a powerful messenger. Thank you and God Bless You!
John the Baptist - Straight forward, brave, intelligent. Totally opposite of this world.
The introduction to Jesus by John the Baptist was, is and will be forever the greatest introduction by any human beings in this world.
God is our creator & protector but we need to obey Him.
I wandered far away from you,
Wandered far and wide for long;
And now I'm coming home to you,
Never more to roam.
I want to praise you for the sunshine and flowers,
I want to thank you for the beauty of the rain;
I want to love you from the bottom of my heart,
Lord I'm coming home to stay with you.
The roaring of the mighty sea,
The chirping of the little bird,
The sweetness on the baby's face,
The grandeur of your loving heart -
All I have seen and felt, my heart has understood,
All of my hopes and fears are joined into one;
And now I know you as the glory of my life,
Lord I'm coming home to stay with you.
Great Bishop
Thank you very much 💕⚘🌿
Blessings from 🇦🇪( UAE) 🌷🌷🌷
Good morning, Bishop Barron: I love your sermon this second Sunday of advent. “It is time to come home” of which is an invitation from our Lord Jesus Christ to follow him and join him. Beautiful words from our Lord. Thank you, Bishop Barron, for all your homilies. Please take care and be safe. 😘😘
Look forward to these sermons every week. So glad you started doing them Bishop Barron. Gives me clarity when it comes to the meaning of the words and phrases of the scriptures that can be obscure for us lay people.
Thank you for this homily, Bishop Barron.
To listen to the word of god with this
beautiful spiritual life.May God Bless the
Church.
Thanks so much from Barcelona, Spain. Very strong images today: dessert, exile, life in a stranger land, ... And God who wait for us at Jerusalem at the end of the way that is Jesus Christ, the only way to arrive to the Father. Good Way!!! Buen Camino!!!
God bless you.
Thank you Bishop Barron, I am so happy to have found your Sunday Sermons - spiritually nourishing.

God bless you and your ministry!
Thank you Bishop Barron for breaking the Word for us every Sunday. I live in a non English speaking environment and find it difficult to understand the homily. Word on fire is my lifeline! I enjoy your homily and it nourished my soul in ‘my own Babylon’. May God continue to bless your ministry 🙏🏽
Always amazing and illuminating, Bishop Barron!
Bishop Barron you taught me just about everything I know about my faith. God Bless you. You are incredible.
You inspire me everytime I have the privilege of listening to you. I am awestruck as you make those connections in my life to psalms and bible readings I'm found of and read frequently. Amazing. Thank you for these messages for a life and hope as we (Christians,) literally circumnavigate the turbulent waters and passages of our daily lives. God bless you and keep you 🙏
Thank you for such an inspiring message. You always give me so much to think about and a message for my week
Thank you Bishop Barron, I always learn from you. God bless you
The Way between the Old and New testaments is in fact, Christ. You did a great job drawing the path .... Thank you!
I think in 5 years much be'll ready but i'm ready now come Jesús Christ! Merry Christmas Jesús Christ!
The Psalm you quoted always causes me to think of the possible mockery in the words "Sing for us the Songs of Sion"
Great stuff! Peace be with you.
Thank you your excellency, God bless always.
So moving !!!! Please keep going with these homilies not only are they inspirational I am getting the Bible ed I missed !!! So grateful to all of word on fire happy holidays from nj
Thank you, Bishop Barron for all your beautiful homilies. You’re one of the greatest preachers I have ever heard. You make the readings easy for us to understand. God bless you and all that you do 🙏
Walking on the bridge that is Christ
Beautiful Homily!!!!
Dear Bishop Barron, please sit down and teach, like you used to do. Talk to us, as you used to do
Even Jesus sat to teach and he didn't dress up for the occasion. I just listened to Dec. 9 in 2011. What a difference from this one. What has happened? I know you are now an "official " teacher, but the formality of this well crafted presentation does change the heart message. Standing and proclaiming belongs in large forums. You are speaking to individuals or small groups watching this video. I thank you.
I always thought the straight highway was to make it easier for God to come to us. It makes so much more sense that it is to facilitate my return to God. Thank you Bishop Barron!
“When you're weary, feeling small
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all, all
I'm on your side, oh, when times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down”. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾. Thank you🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Thanks, Bishop Barron, your homily is clear and encouraging. I benefit from your teaching a lot.
Beautiful metaphor. Memorable, impactful, motivating, lasting. Unlocking another mystery of the Bible; linking old and new testaments - to point the way. thank you.
This Homily is truly a sign from God. My wife and I have lived abroad for three years. Recently the desire to return to the States has hit our hearts. The opportunity seems to be there but we see news of trouble there, which is exaggerated by being here. And of course family issues come into play. We both have some anxiety about going home. The title of the message, "it's time to come home," was an attention getter for us. So we listened carefully. "Walk in the way that he is," reassured me that it's time to go home. That all of the"obstacles" we see, we will walk over them as we follow the straight way. Thank you Bishop Barron and God bless you.
I LOVE your second Come Jesús Christ! Come, come Lord don't be late come that someones of You still waiting You!
Jesús Christ my home! My LOVE! My faith! My Hearth! My way! My Hope! My Ángel Smarted! My Fortress! My Joy! My regoicing! My patience! My Ángel wisely! My Breathe!
Amém. God bless you.
I’ve got an illumination!!! That way has a name: Jesus Christ.
And a shape: the Holy Cross.
