It’s been cool to watch Austin and Jared go from their metalcore 2010s scene phase to their “cool southern Dads who like horror movies and pantera” arc
Here’s a petty reason: my favorite band at the time was playing at a festival several years back. I was SO pumped for their set, it was supposed to be 30 minutes long. They showed up 20 minutes late, played 2 songs, and left. I couldn’t find any explanation on their socials so I let it go. But I was definitely mad salty and stopped listening to them for a good minute 😂

I stopped listening to A Day to Remember because when I was younger that was THE band my old friends and I built our friendship and relationships on and the nostalgia of those memories are now all painful memories, not due to fallout but because it's a reminder of the simpler times. Not petty but you get the idea.
Can confirm the ex thing is so common. I genuinely cannot listen to my chemical romance or drake because the two significant exes I had in my life loved them. My friend played bass in a black metal band I won't name. The guitarist went absolutely nuts at some point. Started whining about the bassist's mom sharing their music saying: "She doesnt understand the mysticism so she shouldn't share it". Also got real weird about their stage costumes because a single review said they don't look likr a BM band. Eventually they had a big gig and didn't let my friend play bass with the excuse that their original bassist was a better player. They announced the gig on Facebook saying that my friend won't be playing at that particular gig. Me and a few others asked if he was still in the band though. They deleted our comments asking about my friend who later was just kicked from the band. They also deleted their music video featuring my friend presumably just because he was in it. Won't listen to their shit anymore after that mess. Maybe not a petty reason but a reason nonetheless

Dang I forgot about that overly political thing, but I can't help but love Iced Earth. To me, they're the heavier more modern side of classic metal, they bridge a gap for me. As a musician, I'm aware I listen to bands I don't agree with on certain issues, I'm not religious or satanic, but I listen to tons of both of those kinds of bands, I'm a musician, I'm looking for what the thing sounds like, I don't care about what they're saying if it slaps, I just want to be influenced by good sounds, that's the goal. I can look past lyrics and people's opinions that seem wrong to me. Idk, it's just not about that to me. I'm a fan of literal music, if you sing something I don't agree with, but I can go away from it thinking, "that's a cool rhythmic pattern" or "interesting melody" where I can put that in my back pocket to tweak and change around when I write my music, then that's all I need. If a band is on the same mental as me, it's just a little bonus I guess, but I never really get too excited either if the band seems like they have a lot of my similar views, it's just a passing thought that, "cool, the world's a little less crazy," assuming I'm not crazy :P
Bro I 100% don't listen to a lot of songs because I don't want to be a part of that particular fandom. 5FDP comes to mind. I like maybe 3 of their songs and I actually kind of dig Ivan's vocals but I just don't want to be a part of that fanbase
Mine made it into the video! I was the guy that said “Probably because everyone keeps telling me to listen to them and it eventually gets on my nerves so I just dont listen to them at all” The band I was actually talking about was For Today. All my friends in high school acted like they were the best band ever… when break the cycle came out I actually HATED them cause that’s all I ever heard about lmao
I introduced my ex to a band, and she really liked them. Right after we broke up, she started dating the vocalist of the band. I had already stopped listening to them before that, but now whenever I hear one of their songs it's just kind of sour.
The U2 thing was I think because they did the original iPod commercial back then. So the Apple Music tie up was a throwback to the original collaboration. I appreciate the free album, not so much the fact that you couldn't delete it
i agree with what they said about taking recommendations from their friends depending on how much they have in common because i SWEAR i have shown people music before and they’ve barely given it the time of day, then months or years later they are super into the artist or band and i’m always in my head like “i tried to tell em”. i’m also not one to push things onto people so it always surprises me.
So upset i didnt see this earlier So back in like 2010-2012, the lead singer of Get Scared, Nicholas Matthews tweeted a picture of spilled pills saying something suicidal, and ronnie fuhkin radke tweeted nicks girlfriend at the time "Get Scared ;)" and ive simply never listened to anything with Ronnie's voice since. I dont even hate him, i just wanna keep the ball rolling
So glad my ex's favorite band is a band I love too much to ever truly hate (Breaking Benjamin). Idc that she treated me like shit, if anything it gave me MORE of a reason to listen, Dear Agony never hit so hard 😂🤣
I think the best way to spin a band that has a lot of connection to an ex is to try making jokes out of it. One of my exes would always play The Devil Wears Prada in his car on long road trips to concerts, but we started listening to the band at different points way before we met. So once we broke up I would mess with people by saying "I was a Plagues kid and he was a Zombie EP kid, we should've known it was never guna last"
I didn't listen to Linkin park when I was a teenager because I hated rap and all the "rap kids" would use them to relate to the music I liked. I listened to alot of metalcore but they'd call it screamo. This is something I regret though
I totally know what Austin means about Breaking Bad or the like. Once something becomes so popular that you hear about literally 25 times a day it has this weird effect where I don't want to watch it lol it's like everyone has decided it's the best thing ever so there's no original experience to be had anymore or something
3:48 that's probably the primary reason I haven't seen several movies watched several TV shows or heard of several different bands. To me it's almost the equivalent of a song being overplayed on the radio. I feel like a total hipster because of it, but I'm glad at least other people have that same sentiment.
I fucking love this content, ive shared black metal or bullshit to people who dont even listen to the music as well as christian rock or load of crock. Your humor is hilarious and you work off each other well, it feels like watching how me and my friends are and im just there for it. My pettiest reason to not listen to a band is because people i dislike like them. They can be excellent but i still just wont, ill just think of them. Another reason is if i hear your song in a dumb commercial, we are getting a divorce lmao Part of the reasoning i got into trying vocals was Austin, but i watched BOTH your tutorials, austin AND Jared, and many more and it was the grizzly shit austin was by far the most gnarly vocalist id heard because i was ALL metalcore. Now its different i love heavy shit like that and just. here we are. im no longer a kid and you guys still doing you, LOVE to see it.
A big petty reason is not listening to a band because of the displeasure of meeting the one shitgibbon fan who left such a bad impression that you take it out on the band. Happened to me with Gorgoroth. Though I've done the opposite more often, I've listened to bands out of petty spite towards reviewers or websites who diss them. Found some really good ones too.
I feel like I do that second part on a regular basis without really trying too hard or realizing it likely because I'm an American who enjoys power metal. Never really saw it as cheesy or whatever other insult people have come up with.
The ex thing I totally get, I dated a girl in 2009 who said "you had me at hello" by A Day To Remember reminded her of me and after we broke up I never listened to them again.
To the dude who didn't listen to the band due to his ex-fiance trying to sleep with them, I say you be petty and you sleep with the band, you do what she couldn't.
About the fanbase thing, feel that way about Lorna Shore. I've lost count of how many reactors/threads/etc. got shit on for criticizing LS in the slightest. Obviously, I'm sure there's a lot of normal fans of the band, but man I've never seen a fanbase hungrier for reinforcement of their music tastes via parasocial relationships than them.
As a vocalist who loves the super crazy talented vocalists of extreme metal the fact that will Ramos is the first thing people bring up even when they don’t know anything else about metal and call him the greatest to ever do it has put me off them because it’s SO incessant
In my freshman year of high school, all my music was still downloaded on my ipad (I had only gotten a phone a few months ago) so the only music I had on there was the U2 album. I had to listen to it every day on the bus. 😭
Not as bad but for a while the first song on that album would play automatically whenever i connected the iphone to anything AND I couldn't delete it for some reason. I can't remember how it was resolved but thank god it didn't happen forever.
I went over a guys house because he said we’d have a jam session. I was so hyped and thought we were friends but he turned on black waltz by Avatar and said to me “wouldn’t it be sick if we made out to this song?” And I can never listen to Avatar ever again. Rip 😂
When I was a sophomore in high school, a senior told me that I would eventually stop listening to metal and listen to the Beatles instead. Never listened to a single song. That was 11 years, ago.
@@whereta3097 I'm sure I've probably heard some parts of their songs in other media without realizing it, but if anyone asked me to hum one of their songs I wouldn't be able to do it. And as for the why, the topic is about the pettiest reason you won't listen to a band.
At one time, I was on my moral high ground and didn’t listen to a band I love because I didn’t like artists who cursed, so I stopped listening to a band because APPLE MUSIC put an explicit sticker on songs that didn’t even have a single cuss word in them. For context, I was cussing like a sailor at the time.
Good ol journeys employee here, if your ever in a store during the holidays, take note of the playlist, while there is no mgk, it is one of the waickiest compilations you will ever hear. At the moment, we have three different versions of "all I want for christmas is you."
I got scared of black veil brides because when I saw their singer, I thought he would sound super high pitched like sleeping with sirens or pierce the veil. When he started singing I was so confused
the singer pushed me off stage. Won't say what band that was but it happened to me in 2007/2008. And its not that it was forbidden to stagedive or something. He just kicked me down into the crowd for what ever reason.
I stopped listening to and supporting one of my favorite local bands because I witnessed the singer/guitarist give a barrista a hard time over his coffee not being done yet (it had been less than 5 minutes since he ordered it and the place was swamped)
DAMMIT Austin I can’t believe you remembered my first bands name 😂😂😂😂!!!! RIP I will never get away from that name 😂😂😂. To be fair, I joined the band with it named that. The name comes from the original 3 members favorite movies put together. Dylan the vocalist - The Nightmare Before Christmas Kenny the guitarist - The Last Samurai Hugo the drummer - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 😂😂😂❤️❤️. Love that the name still floats around out there but the band I’m fronting now is so much better musically 😂.
2:26 Austin lol I remember when I first tried to look up “Dark Watch” and the result was the video game. I then typed “Dark Watch Band” and saw Apple Watch bands in darker colors. Then I tried “Dark Watch Metal Band” and got Apple Watch bands in stainless steel/aluminum lol
I had this weird thing when I was a teenager where I'd outwardly hate on All Time Low simply because the girl I was dating at the time was like borderline obsessed with them. I didn't even hate their music at all. I was just for whatever reason bothered that she loved them so much 😂
U2 had a special deal with Apple. They had limited edition U2 variants of products, like the iphone and ipod classic. It was Iced Earth, and the guitarist is the main guy. The wild thing is Stu (who is from my city), the vocalist made a statement saying he was “proud of his friend for standing up for his beliefs,” which he later deleted after a bunch of backlash.
One of my buddies refuses to listen to a lot of newer stuff from bands and edm artists he used to like because they either stopped innovating or "aren't innovators in their field so I stopped listening". I get that some people do think the way he does but I don't care if the music is innovative. I want to feel something and escape from life for a bit when listening or playing along to music. I'm sure innovation has some stuff to do with that but it really does seem like a weird and petty reason to stop listening to something you like.
Mine is lowkey problematic but Paramore. Or really just Haley Williams. And it’s not problematic because it’s Paramore. But whenever the Front Porch Step allegations came out and Haley Williams went off. Threatening that she/Paramore was going to drop off of Warped that year if he didn’t get taken off the line up. Because she was super against SA and didn’t want to play next to “Predators.” Which would be cool. That’s like a super valid reason. Or rather it is for every other artist or band. And I mean… Fuck Front Porch Step. BUT. It was mega hypocritical for her to say that and kind of goofy as hell for her to say that like there isn’t a video or her vibing the hell out to Bewitched by Blood On The Dance Floor playing live , with her side stage. Singing her lungs out. YEARS after the lead guy getting out right arrest for r*pe. And loads and LOADS of allegations against him. And she’s just going off about Front Porch Step. Like what the fuck?
I would honestly love to hear Jared do some of the screaming, live from his new album, The Grey. I was just blown away by how good it was and the screaming, was absolutely incredible. Hopefully, Jared can deliver us some juicy live snippets! Cheers and much love from NC. 🤘🏼🇺🇸🤘🏼
I would say Machine Head, purely because I had never listened to them at 15y/o when my machinehead on my guitar broke, and I couldn't find anything on the Internet for the life of me to help fix it 😭 just band related results. Then I saw them live at bloodstock festival this year, all is forgiven 😇
Six Ft Under’s first two albums were great when they were a 90s death metal supergroup. But Allen West (Obituary) went full Florida Man and now they’re just Chris Barnes with a some other guys.
Here’s my petty reason! TAA was touring with senses fail in winter of 2019. Bad omens was supposed to be one of the openers until they cried and complained that the font size of their name on the poster was too small. So they ended up not opening. But to this day, I will not listen to Bad Omens because of that.

Austin being the vocalist is why I would listen to bands
That’s how I was with the band Vanna.
Thts how I get with Netflix shows Lmao. But I LOVED For Today way back when 😂
your name remind me of whisteria cottage
I introduced my ex to a band, and she really liked them. Right after we broke up, she started dating the vocalist of the band. I had already stopped listening to them before that, but now whenever I hear one of their songs it's just kind of sour.
Damn man. That's rough. Hope you're with a better one now.
The U2 thing was I think because they did the original iPod commercial back then. So the Apple Music tie up was a throwback to the original collaboration. I appreciate the free album, not so much the fact that you couldn't delete it
Austin has changed so much over the years, where as Jared has spent those five years cultivating the power of his mustache
i agree with what they said about taking recommendations from their friends depending on how much they have in common because i SWEAR i have shown people music before and they’ve barely given it the time of day, then months or years later they are super into the artist or band and i’m always in my head like “i tried to tell em”. i’m also not one to push things onto people so it always surprises me.
So upset i didnt see this earlier
So back in like 2010-2012, the lead singer of Get Scared, Nicholas Matthews tweeted a picture of spilled pills saying something suicidal, and ronnie fuhkin radke tweeted nicks girlfriend at the time "Get Scared ;)" and ive simply never listened to anything with Ronnie's voice since. I dont even hate him, i just wanna keep the ball rolling
Man I wish I had a friendship like you two guys
I need to see a “worst band names” video now
Already exists (kind of)
So glad my ex's favorite band is a band I love too much to ever truly hate (Breaking Benjamin). Idc that she treated me like shit, if anything it gave me MORE of a reason to listen, Dear Agony never hit so hard 😂🤣
I love Breaking Benjamin but I can’t listen to that album anymore. That was my early high school depression soundtrack lol.
I think the best way to spin a band that has a lot of connection to an ex is to try making jokes out of it. One of my exes would always play The Devil Wears Prada in his car on long road trips to concerts, but we started listening to the band at different points way before we met. So once we broke up I would mess with people by saying "I was a Plagues kid and he was a Zombie EP kid, we should've known it was never guna last"
"Every band is either sponsored by monster or rockstar"
Remembers redbull owns a record company
Like Wednesday. I refuse to watch it.
Omg, the King810 part at 9:48 had me crying, ahaha! That was way too accurate.
11:46 Jared is the same way with La Dispute. He doesn't know that they have some bangers, he only knows the old cringey emo tracks he was shown.
this is why I recommend Hudsonville MI 1956, stuff off Vancouver can be real cringe
Man, it's been a while. I'm glad to see the show still goes on!
9:50 Austin's impression of David Gunn is so good he's got Jared just dying 🤣 😆 🤣 😂
Shitgibbon 😂
I feel like I do that second part on a regular basis without really trying too hard or realizing it likely because I'm an American who enjoys power metal. Never really saw it as cheesy or whatever other insult people have come up with.
Shitgibbon is now my new favorite insult
I enjoy watching you guys over the years and watch you both change and evolve and the joy is still here today keep it up.
The king810 part is so fucking on point holy fuck LOL
The ex thing I totally get, I dated a girl in 2009 who said "you had me at hello" by A Day To Remember reminded her of me and after we broke up I never listened to them again.
I’ve always been able to just be like “nah fuck it I like this band fuck her”
I like some ADTR from time to time but I break the skip button when that song comes on shuffle for the same reasons.
I miss seeing these types of videos from you guys. Keep up the great work, cheers.
Love you guys thanks for the uploads !!!! Never ever stop going !
Austin imitating King 810 made me laugh so hard my dog was worried lol
I pretty much stop listening to every band, if I learn about them sueing someone for copyright reasons.
Rip 😂
Love how the skeleton in the background moved while Austin was Bussin moves 😂
When I was a sophomore in high school, a senior told me that I would eventually stop listening to metal and listen to the Beatles instead.
Never listened to a single song. That was 11 years, ago.
You've never listened to the Beatles? Why not both?
The ex thing isn’t petty at all. I would know bc I had to cancel my entire music taste after a messy breakup lol. It hurts
I got one for Avenged Sevenfold: They have their music in Cod, don't like Cod.
the singer pushed me off stage.
Late to the conversation but this is a wonderful topic Ive always thought about but never asked anyone else.
DAMMIT Austin I can’t believe you remembered my first bands name 😂😂😂😂!!!!
RIP
I will never get away from that name 😂😂😂.
To be fair,
I joined the band with it named that.
The name comes from the original 3 members favorite movies put together.
Dylan the vocalist - The Nightmare Before Christmas
Kenny the guitarist - The Last Samurai
Hugo the drummer - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
😂😂😂❤️❤️.
Love that the name still floats around out there but the band I’m fronting now is so much better musically 😂.
I love the backstory on the name, I'm surprised he remembered it as well. Good luck with the new project
That name is brilliant, I fucking love that
@@Grindtone603 thank you! 🤘🏻 if interested it goes by TITVN BAND
Awesome, was just binging episodes of dickeydines today anyway!
I mean. The fact that she actually liked that shit is enough for me. Blood on the Dance Floor is grade A shit.
bro the skeleton was offended by your joke at 10:05 Austin XD
I gotta agree with Austin on the band name. Heard a band called Unregistered Sex Offender, definitely could not say that band name anywhere
LMFAO NOOOOO
That impression of David Gunn is so spot on 🤣🤣
Austin can make so much content as David Gunn, fucking hilarious impression
I laughed so much at that one
Six Ft Under’s first two albums were great when they were a 90s death metal supergroup. But Allen West (Obituary) went full Florida Man and now they’re just Chris Barnes with a some other guys.
The dude that said they need to hate the band out of spite because their friend likes it; it's called contrarianism, we do a little contrarianism
Austin and Jared , Always love your Videos. Keep them coming. The Dickey Dines Show Rocks 🤘🤘
sometimes if i dont like the cover art of the album i wont buy it
Oh my god Austin, the impersonation of the guy from King 810. Even the skeleton was starting to fall over laughing. Lmao
you guys need a podcast together, so funny
Here’s my petty reason! TAA was touring with senses fail in winter of 2019. Bad omens was supposed to be one of the openers until they cried and complained that the font size of their name on the poster was too small. So they ended up not opening. But to this day, I will not listen to Bad Omens because of that.
I don’t watch this channel enough. Love these dudes
Austin's freestyle about storming the capital sounded dope!
I actually saw impending doom this year and they were fucking awesome, and surprisingly, the singer did NOT wear a flannel lol
jared with a mustache looks like every firefighter/paramedic ive ever seen in missouri
Hey! Here they are!! The daring duo, the metal mates, the banging (of heads) buddies! The pesky pair, the clever clogs, the sick shredders. These hard-core hooligans!! You jammin' jivers, ya kool Kate, ya legendary larrikin
Underoath no-showing Warped Tour and me not knowing that until several hours into the festival made me stop for several years. Luckily i got to talk to and watch Protest the Hero and became a fan.
Atleast you gained a great band out of that, Protest the Hero is fucking incredible.
the king 810 part had me in TEARS
“Six feet under is the fish sticks of metal” had me fucking dying!
I won't listen to a band because I broke my CD.
10:00 Also, I lmao when Austin tapped the skeleton, and it looked directly at the back of his head the entire rest of the video.
Skeleton: I wish you would...
