It's a great looking bike with performance to match but I don't like they slap the brand name in at least 5 different spots , 2x on each side of the frame. Is it not enough to be a consumer of the product without also being a riding billboard to promote more sales? I don't know, maybe some people want everyone to know they are a "name brand" buyer as a "status symbol", I personally don't care for it

Heat the edges of the front fender to soften and widen the edges. Its looks better with the bigger tires.

I was looking at the step through version od this bike directly from the factory. A much cheaper route but even unlocked they don't want the majority of their bikes to go very fast. Good for staying within regulations but I wanted to either stay the same or go up in speed from my Bee Cool. Ended up going with the Ariel Rider Kepler.

It’s nice looking bike. The step through scare also better for men like me whom, after a few years of ebiking need Hip replacement and broken legs,it’s not easy getting on and off a reg Ebike Ebike. If I’d purchased a step through I’d have been in my bike already. As it is I’m not cleared by Doctor because I have to swing my leg over & I can’t. Ugh. 12 moonshine (2) more and I can attempt to ride again. Lyft is getting expensive. Tossed my car 3+ years ago for an Ebike.

I bought some 5” Kenda tires for my fat tire Ebike, looked awesome but really not worth it. The only time they worked slightly better than 4” is in the snow. The 4” worked much better on the trails for sure, better control and turning agility. Noisy tires too. Have a pair of 5’s for sale lol.

From my experience I found this bike as a big disappointment and wouldn't recommend it to other potential customers. Firstly this company has problems with shipping(parts that I ordered together with a new bike, Himiway managed send to me only 23 days after receiving my payment. Secondly the manual book arrived in the German language. After only like 120 km riding, the kickstand got broken and did not fold out (I used it around 10-15 times) Thirdly the maximum distance that I managed to get on the fully charged battery was 65 km!!!! (With only my weight on it(less than 80 kg), mostly on fully flat roads, with tire pressure 30 PSI and temperature outside 12-15°). The support team would do their best to find any excuse but not the solution, some of the replies from them I received on the fourth day and only after reminding them to reply to me. On top of that, the bike I bought and received from Himiway was made two years ago. On my question to the support team why the bike already is two years old I still haven't received an answer. I would recommend thinking twice before ordering something from them.

The Fat tires look awesome… it does not compensate for the horrible service from Himiway! I bought my 4th Himiway, loved the first two so much … when our bikes got destroyed by hurricane Ian we ponied up another $4K … my new Cobra Peddle assist does not work. … after a month a few return emails I am told , Purchase a new Peddle assist sensor for $178 and install it.
THIS IS A BRAND NEW BIKE.
Note to any one purchasing a Himiway, this is NOT an American company and they do not have a warehouse in CA… You are dealing directly with a company on Shanghai that fronts as a USA company… Service and support is only done via email.

The one time I bought tires bigger then 4.0 tires I regretted it, they were great off-road, but you could definitely feel a difference in rolling resistance, and battery range. Putting a little bit of extra air in the tires helped a little bit, but you could still notice the difference even the the top speed and the acceleration.

What people may not realize is the fat tires add shock absorption. Unless you are riding only on smooth pavement, fatties are the way to go! I ride gravel, dirt, potholes, everything and fatties handle all of it. I might even replace mine with more aggresive tread.

Brian you failed to mention those huge tires come with a huge price tag. $113.00 for bicycle tire is ridiculous in my book. Also I agree Himiway has really stopped up the game for affordable e full sized e bikes. See if they will send you one of their Cobra Pro mid drive bikes for testing.

@@Hoggdoc1946 Yes it could be converted into a great bike for sand, mud, and snow use. Weighs 37 pounds with the big tires and 1x10 gearing. My guess is about 17 pounds for bike and 20 pounds for wheels lol. With a big Bafang mid drive added it would still be only about 60 pounds which would seem pretty light for such a huge bike. Probably be hard to beat on a beach.

I’ve got 2.10 x 27.5 tires Schwalbe Marathon HS468 on my Core 5 and really like how they are on road and some off road. Way less resistant to rolling (coast really well if you want) unlike fat tires at low psi. Definitely can ride it with no assist easily on level ground. I just finished my fat tire Mongoose ebike buil, it only took me a year. I used one of those new Bafang, 1,000 geared hubs with a 30 amp controller and 52v battery. I was very impressed with the power and torque and acceleration, but only tops at 29MPH. I've seen some of the 750s when they're set up right, do well over 30. I'm wondering if it's gears, or something else limiting the top speed.

    • @richie2075
      @richie2075 2 года назад

i built a 1000 bafang mid drive kit for an old fat bike and my top speed is 29. fyi, i put smaller tires on. they are around 3 inches and no knobby treads. my bike is silent. no tire or motor noise. tires have frog puncture proof and slime. i've got 2000 miles and no flats or really any air loss. i realized that shifting gears is a waste of time. i just leave the chain midway on the cluster and pedal at around 15 mph on #4 assist. top end with this set up is around 26.

I'm the only one I ever see out there rocking a geared Hub motor, everybody else if it's electric it's a mid Drive. Would think they're blowing hubs like crazy, and maybe even snapping chains but I don't know, I want to try it

I cannot pedal cuz I have one leg. I've only got stuck on one Hill on the eco-trick hammer bike it's 1,000 w the new ones are 750. I'd like to have it for power Not For Speed. I don't know that I would like wider tires I think I would like 3.5 or 3-in Tires For Less resistance I wonder how those would be for shock absorption if you could go down to 3-in tires? One thing I have been looking into is putting the Torque sensor that is on the Cobra on my step-thru Zebra and what I have found out is that I am sure it can be done, you would need to get the torque sensor and the crank arms that go with it and the controller from the Cobra and it should be plug n play, which would be a great video for you to make and there is a lot of people that would like it if it could be done because I brought it up on the Himiway Facebook page and lots of people were interested, what a project to do, and I did a lot of the leg work, The Display is the same and the programming in it, and the Motor is the same, but the controller is different and the torque sensor should fit right in the crank housing and the crank arm that goes with it I tried to get someone at Himiway to help but it is like it is over their heads unless you get ahold of the right people! You can do it I believe in you!

Rumor is that if you change to a KD718 display it allows you to unlock the speed limit on the Zebra. i have not tried it but someone emailed me saying that it worked :)

Yes they put a delay on the throttle response for safety reasons on most ebikes with this amount of power. They put a shunt resistor in the controller limiting the current. I shorted it out in my controller and the bike has way more torque and acceleration.

Does it get really hot? I think they have the limits for a reason sometimes but maybe I'm wrong. I'm almost positive my Evike can go faster than 25. Eco trick Hammer bike you get up to 25 and it slows down. But if I unlock it it might get really hot and burn up is what I was thinking. Cuz the wires that go to the motor aren't big enough on my bike. I need 2,000 W cuz I got one leg and I need to go up hills with a wagon with camping gear. I'm happy with the bike so far all I've done is change the brake pads and pump up the hydraulic brakes and it has almost 1,300 miles. And they will still sell me parts and it's way over the warranty. And mine has a frame unlike a lot of the other ones there's no frame like mine. So if you were good at building bikes which I'm not it would be a good frame. It's really long. But it was only $1,300. And that's just Bare Essentials I had to buy a rack I had to buy another seat pole cuz I'm short. I don't even have fenders which I should have when it's raining and it flies up on your back. I haven't even washed my bike yet LOL. It got washed When I Was camping in the rain. Carrying all that weight destroys the brakes faster. I have carried a load of wood in my Cannondale wagon up hills but not giant Hills. And I couldn't believe it did it neither could the people at the campground when I was dragging a log because it wouldn't fit in the wagon. I always thought well it'll probably die in about a couple hundred miles but no it keeps going.

@@LetArtsLive yes the controller gets hot but that is normal as the case acts as a heatsink. I beefed up all the solder tracks around the MOSFETS so as the tracks can carry the extra current. See this video of the avveleration/torque after the mod ruclips.net/video/tcZwPYAha1U/видео.html

Do the bikes have more torque in lower gears or higher gears , for the Hill climb is what I was thinking about.

With hub drive motors it make no difference what gear the bike is in. The gearing only helps for pedaling effort. With mid drive motor the power of the motor is delivered to the rear wheel via the gearing system.
To answer your question about torque and gearing. The larger the rear sprocket in relation to the front sprocket gives you the most torque. The small sprocket in the rear give higher top speed.

I can see what your saying now , on the hub drive its delivering less amps to wheel, thanks for the reply.

No, you don't have to change the Controller to unlock the speed they sell a colored display that unlocks the speed, that is someone who made that up because the people with the old Himiway want their bikes to be special and they are but the upgrades on the new bike are big-time starting with the upgraded motor that is more powerful and runs cooler and all the electronic being inter grated into the frame which keeps them out of the weather and cooler too because aluminum dispatches the heat every good which Himiway claims it makes it 98% more mechanically reliable, plus better brakes and plus when you take off the rear hub you will see the motor comes apart on the disc brake side and look were the wires come out these are big-time upgrades and I bet you will not have all the wire motor connection welding themself together all the time as you see on the cruisers I see all the time people working on their Cruiser with the motor wirers still connected, I have the Zebra Step-thru and I had few people get mad when I mention it was not the controller and now enough people that owned Zebra posted video of the color display and how it unlocks the speed that it shut these people up and made them face up to how much better the Zebra is, Hell I was a fan of the Cruiser step-thru and was going to buy one and then they had the Zebra and I read about all the upgrades and I did not think twice I got the Zebra Step- thru and I love this bike!

I own a Himiway.... Great eBike until you need parts. A minor thing like a replacement motor, waiting 5 months now .. they suck. Bike World used to sell Himiway's but replacement parts never come. I think I'll just go with a mid drive kit??? I purchased an eDash and love it. I needed a part ordered though the dealer in 1 week back on the road. Edash is based out of Phoenix.
Himiway is based out of China 🇨🇳. I had over 3500 miles on my Himiway... RIP.
Buy a Rad or ????? But not a Himiway.

I personally hate fat tire bikes. They make ebikes too intimidating for the walking/bike trails
