Since Spanish is such a widely spoken language there are many variations in pronunciation, vocabulary and even some grammatical elements. In Latin America many speakers pronounce 'yo' as you are describing with a 'j' sound something like 'Jo'. especially in the southern part. Many others in Spain and Latin America pronounce 'yo' as I do in the video. It is up to the learner to decide what variety of Spanish they want to learn. I try to stick to standard Latin American Spanish but I also like to mention elements from other varieties of Spanish at times.
