Nice work. I can't imagine using this on a street car without a well engineered crash structure inside, which is probably beyond most hobbyist. But for a race car with a roll cage and inner crash structure, it's perfect. Better to save weight on fenders and hoods/trunks for a street car....

Although nothing in my mind can take away from your epic composite work, removing the steel door beams does send shivers down my still-intact spine. What about adding a layer of aramid layer to the inside of the layup, to contain the deadly black shards, should the door ever get hit?

Any reason why you drew the resin in from the bottom? I would have thought from the top, gravity would help it go faster. Just wondering if you had a reason.

True. But if you can do it whenever you want because you have molds and the material ready, why waste space with parts you maybe never need. And the molds are so specific to his race car, he can't even easily sell it if not needed (as at least the inner mold will not work for a street car).

I keep wondering watching all these carbon fiber vids: is it really worth it using CF vs Fiber-Glass on a cost, weight, and strength basis? Not puttjng down the process at all, the work is very skillfully done, kudos for that, but FG is much more resilient if hit, costs much less, and still stronger than the original steel. I know it looks cool to many, but ultimately it comes down to 'what do you get for your money?'
