Who was that pale child standing behind your chair Joel whilst you were talking to us at the end? It sure creeped me out.
STOP 😱😱😱
@@ItsJps funnily enough,i was watching one of your videos the other day & there was a few orbs flying about..not kidding,im being honest..was going to comment but i didnt..wish i could remember what video it was 😏😏
@@ItsJps The irony is, having only caught a glimpse of her, in your imagination she is probably scarier than she actually was.
@@ItsJps I have asked you this question a few times, but you never answer it. What time in the US do you post your clips & are you more West Coast or East Coast? East is nearer the UK & West is further away.
Ikr, thought maybe it was a new co presenter and you were eventually going to introduce us smh
The Barnardo's advert of the repeated cycle of violence and abuse was one of the most truthful adverts ever made. And it got banned.
These adverts that seem to 'offend children' according to their parents were not shown during children's watching hours - but that seemed to be lost on those who complain about everything but let their children watch TV with no supervision.
Offensive to blind people made laugh lol
Barnardo’s advert was less distasteful than what millions of kids go through every day. I agree JPS, a very powerful commercial.
Barnardo's is a children's charity here in the UK.
😂😂😂 bless your heart!! That little girl totally freaked you!! As someone said before the public info ads in 70s and 80s were far more scary and I bet no one complained! The 1980s hiv/ aids ones scarred me for life!!
@TheRenaissanceman65 It was john hurts voice in the ad aswell that freaked me out!!😂
' Don't Die of Ignorance ' ..... bloody ironic given that ignorance was rife in the health care system at the time!
And the road safety ones.
Seeing JP’s reaction to the little girl, I doubt that he’ll be able to handle the Royal Marines ads.
I think I remember one of a school sports day being ran on railway tracks and kids getting killed by passing trains.
The phones 4 you one that you skipped through was actually quite funny.
Just proves that the elderly have waaayyy to much time on their hands. The Barnados one was excellent. But people don't want to see the truth.
I'd say that generally, people who write in to complain about adverts or TV are a bit odd
The adverts some of them at least, they're meant to make you feel uncomfortable. The intention is to make you think about what you just saw - so that whatever message it is trying to communicate, sinks in. Pretty effective I personally think.
Can’t believe you haven’t discovered UK 1970s public information films- those were dark.
I love that you were properly freaked out by the creepy girl 😅. Obviously don’t want you properly scared but it’s endearing that it gave you proper creeps that you couldn’t watch it.
Yeah we British have a dark sense of humour and it’s reflected in our media and advertising. But then again, if an advert is memorable, it’s effective.
Those adverts were fairly mild
cant beleive it missed the xbox ad
Yeah this can't be the most banned.
Ik yeah. The blind wanderers one was funny. It's like that banned six nations advert its funny and doesnt make sense why it was banned
After seeing this i soooooooo want to see you do a reaction video for the scariest movie scenes of all time!! And you got a great laugh btw, infectious.
I think you would enjoy the original you've been Tangoed ads.
You should see some of the anti drink driving ads from the 90s 😱
Maybe it's our humor but I'm sure people over a certain age wouldn't react the way you did 🤣 look at the low complaint amount compared to millions of people in the UK.
Thumbs up if you want Joels next reaction to be to 'Paranormal Activity'
Heck... This one'd get spooked by Fielding and Acora. Has anything genuine ever happened in "most haunted"? In the twenty years it's been running?
I think he would shit his pants watching Doctor Who.
@@slick0074 could always recommend he watch Blink.
The UK has a watershed of 9:00pm for its eight major channels. Before that, shows and advertisements not deemed appropriate for children cannot be aired on them. The fact that so many parents complain about advertisements only shows that they are not monitoring what their children are watching. Too many parents expect television to be an unpaid babysitter these days.
I disagree. I DO feel it is promoting animal cruelty. It is trivialising it, and showing it in a 'joke' context. We have enough animal cruelty, we don't need ANYTHING that possibly contributes to it.
As a kid in the UK we had the grim reaper in public information ads, terrifying
Bruh that would be fun
How was the you've been tango'ed adverts not in the top 10? 😂
They could replay the extreme weather advert now without any problems- extreme heat in the US and massive floods in Germany
July 2020 was way hotter. I think things are cooling down now.
Extreme weather isn't all about climate change. These events come in waves and depend on many complex meteorological factors. Whilst we need to be kinder to the environment it's wrong to blame all such events on CO2 emissions.
I think the cycle of abuse was meaning ongoing abuse to the same child instead of the abused becoming the abuser..
Check out the HIV advert from the 80s and the protect and survive adverts for nuclear war from the 70s they're way scarier than those ads!
Great reaction mate, especially when you got too scared to watch 🤣 Could you react to the UK's most effective adverts too? :)
P.S. Watching you react to horror films on your channel would be comedy gold, just sayin 🤣
“That blind people thing, I guess I can see that”. Oh, really, no pun intended?!
Oh boy, your genuine reaction to Number 9 - “Little Girl” - was sooooooo funny!!! I haven’t laughed so much in ages……. Seriously………..
EDIT: You actually skipped it?!?!?!?!? For real, bro?!?!?! I haven’t laughed so hard in AGES!!!! Aaaaaaa, bless u!!!! bless u!!🇬🇧🇺🇸👍
Joel watch Salem's lot. You'll be in a Sanatorium by the end. Those ads are tame but get the message across. Good video
I really reccomend you watchj top 10 most effective british ads, definitely perfect for your channel and its an amazing video
that was hilarious , i couldnt believe you were scared at the adverts .
I sit and watch every morning while having my breakfast i nearly choked laughing when you saw the little girl and your reaction was awesome great way to start the day with a laugh thx
Lol British humour is pretty dark & a bit weird sometimes! It’s pretty easy to understand why these ads were not allowed. Your reactions were so funny tho, hope you don’t have nightmares! 🤣👍
I dont get why the blind one wasnt allowed and the VW one there was no blood so too violent is waffling. I've seen guns in adverts for some shows
Poor Joel. You'll be glad to hear that the makers of the little girl ad, Phones 4U, went bust in 2014. Marie Stopes is a family planning charity, the complaints weren't reslly about the ad, but from pro life campaigners campaigning against abortion. The blind football ad was a very popular. I'm surprised there were no Tango ads.
For brevity though, Marie Stopes, like the founder of Planned Parenthood (Margaret Sanger) was a campaigner/advocate of eugenics, so to call it a merely 'family planning' is perhaps a little deceptive!
@@carlhartwell7978 well, as they're long dead, who gives a toss..? Oh right, Men who want to control women's bodies, sorry, I forgot...
@@swannvictor1388 Stopes and Sanger may be long dead, but clearly their legacy is very much alive. The tired old argument of 'men wanting to control women's bodies'
1) What about pro life women? Leading onto...
2) It's not about controlling anyone's body, but defending the life of unborn humans.
All the 'controlling women's bodies' argument does is ignore the real question, when does life start, that's real question.
@@carlhartwell7978 As much as I would love to debate with you, Alas, Nature has already decreed AS I CAN NEVER GIVE BIRTH, I HAVE NO SAY IN THIS MATTER.
@@carlhartwell7978 Legally life begins at birth. Anyway no babies are ever aborted since prior to birth it is a foetus. So to claim that babies are being aborted is disingenuous to the extreme. The vast majority of abortions are very early when what is being got rid of is an unwanted clump of cells. It looks just like a heavy period.
The VW ad looked like a take off from the Matrix films
10:52 "Maybe I'm just a baby" ....well you're a very cute baby. Love from your fellow American down under in Australia!!!
KFC so greasy just like fish and chips hardly ever have them but if I do I regret it and think why did I have eat that so disgusting just like McDonald’s kebabs horrible junk food
Haha
I think it's just you ..wink .. don't mind the undead selling us 'phones but talking with your mouth full is beyond the limit . How uncivilized .
No you are not a wuss; some stuff is just really horrible. Other adverts just miss the mark so badly, I wonder why anyone paid for them. As a smoker, the "hooked" one is completely unrelatable. Puffing on my pipe in the garden in the early morning listening to bird song is nothing like the scene portrayed. (Better to go with the guilt trip about polluting the air for others) Btw, in the UK we pronounce the word, "ad - ver - tiss - ment" with the emphasis on the second syllable
There are a few UK PSA adverts that have stuck with me since I was a child.
I can't recall the 'name' of it but one in particular was when we start at a car crash scene.
Four dead guys inside a car, it looks like brains, guts etc. allover.
Then it rewinds and shows that all it would have been would be the pizza making the mess if they had worn seatbelts.
That was pretty horrific but I don't even start my car until everyone has their seatbelt on. Clearly it worked.
You have to watch some scary stuff for us , omg that little girl in add 9 was so funny to watch ,and it may help you get over your fear ,and give us a good laugh
No good you going to Scotland (the most haunted country in the world) if you're scared of an advertisement
not all of those were ads. some were public service announcements, therefore should not be banned as they are deliberately designed like shock and awe campaigns
Some people in UK have lost a sense of humour.. Some ads are bad but they have to be looked at in perspective. 🇬🇧
Hahaha, most of these are funny as. Smoking one Doc please don't even try if offered one as yes they are totally addictive as about 20+ years smoker talking here and I can't stand them. The Human Centipede now that's a vile chain of films "3 in total" Part 1 was forced to watch by my ex "who loved horror" part 2 only movie I had to walk out the cinema where it was hosting an all night horror movie fest so come back in after, now apparently there is a part 3, but that can do one! Nice to see you happy dude, bit of a heatwave in the UK at the moment. See ya tomorro dude.
Hey new subscriber here just wanna say love your videos I’ve just binge watched a load of them never laughed so hard your reactions are hilarious can’t wait to watch more x
Car Crash advert Northern Ireland - that was really one to make an impact
this one? ruclips.net/video/hpjL8bGC1ks/видео.html
@@georgebarnes8163 That's the one
The irony of the co2 ad is that 11 years later, we have extreme flooding in Germany and Belgium with severe loss of life and properties washed away. We had heavy flooding in London just last week. We recently had extreme temperatures in the USA and Canada, and last year we had raging forest/wild fires in Australia and the USA.
Think maybe that ad should have been allowed to play, and maybe it should be worldwide.
Have to counter that line of thought because even then it was too late when that came out the issue has only got worse because inability by the world's governments to deal with the harsh realities of the fact the damage has been done already it also was deemed even with things now being what they are as a counterproductive way to warn people we need to unite to solve the issue not scare the crap out of people to the point they fear to do anything.
I'm the same, I can't do horror, I'm glad you skipped it, I hate kfc too
If you are up to it react to the most effective uk adverts...warning it wont be easy
I came across your video purely by accident but I was amused by your honesty regarding how scared you were so I have subscribed.
Our House in Scotland is a few hundred years older than your country, although many changes have been made over the centuries, the Chapel is Queen Elizabeth1st, We have tours for visitors and many times over the years people have commented about the 'Lady' in fancy dress? It's common in large country houses for Tour Guides to dress up in period costume we don't do that, but many people, over the years have telephoned the house complaining that their photos taken of this 'Lady', has come out blank, My father just says that there must be something wrong with their camera's or phones, I personally have never seen her, but then again we do not use that part of the house, it is far too large to heat and there are too many treasures for my sister and brothers to damage running around when we were children, but, form all accounts, people have been seeing this very clear picture of a 'Lady' Dressed in very fine Elizabethan clothing, walking through parts of the house, for a couple of hundred years. Who she is? We have no idea, but with many hundreds of sightings from people from all over the world, I have never completely written her presence off. Good luck at Uni.
You come across very straight laced 😂
KFC advert is appalling. Who on earth think these up?
You’ve been tangoed
You should react to oversimplified ww2 or ww1
I remember the hooked ad, I was about 16 when it was out so prime age to start smoking, my friends and some family were already smokers. I didn't start though. That ad scarred me, the second I saw his face on that ad it unlocked the memory!
at 9.27 it reminded me of 2 things ..so whos up for a real life game of mortal kombat ? and the other thing it reminded me of is the film called the maxtrix
The hooked one was in line with the government ban on smoking in indoor public place’s and how people have to go outside from 1st July 2007 hence him being pulled outside to smoke then obviously the fact he looks cold and uncomfortable. It was made to get people wanting to stop or get unhooked from their addiction
My sister wants to take you on a date to the cinema. All the insidious films back to back if you're up for it lol
A lot of those weren't adds, they are Public Information Films. They are sometimes even shown by the BBC. I grew up with them in the 1970's and they where just as scary. I personally believe they should go out to children. The more shocking the better. It gets in your head and stops you going into danger. I lived near farm's as a child and their was one about kids playing near farm machinery, it was graphic, but it stopped me messing around machines. You ought to look at the 70's one's, brutal.
In the UK we have buildings that are over 500 yrs old we are always being told they are haunted along with our history that is over a 1000 yrs old so no we don't get scared at adverts
the thing is to make a complaint to offcom its not like the report button on youtube somebody actually has to write a proper complaint so the numbers that actually felt the need to do that is quite corsiderable
first time watching your chanel ive heard you swear, sorry, but that reaction made me laugh ..priceless
Would blind people be able to see it to be offended? I would imagine that would be more offended that people assume they have no sense of humour.
There wasn't A child there , I saw Two
I’m a scaredy-cat too so it’s not just you 🥴
Howling at your reaction of the little girl 😂
I don't know when these adds were shown but I've never actually seen any of them!
I don’t know what you would make of the advert because it’s creepy. But there was an advert by the government about speeding in a car. It was part of a campaign called Think but the little girl gets hit by a car and her bones bent backwards. Honestly it’s horrible and that got banned in the UK. It was on about if you hit her at 30mph there is an 80% chance she will live but hit her at 80mph and there is less than a 30% chance she will live.
Countries are flooded, there are wild heatwaves and yet the "Act on CO2" ad was unrealistic?
That is what I was thinking. It's happening as predicted.
Nah I don't get freaked out easy but I am a snowflake when it comes to rollercoasters and stuff but creepy stuff doesn't bother me mate.
Not calling you a snowflake either
You need to desensitize yourself with horror by watching it. It's not real.
And I thought *I* was a wuss when it comes to horror stuff!
Be careful when you're next shopping for breakfast cereals, I hear they put monsters on the boxes over there!
4:45 that is kinda what cigarettes do. i think that's a solid advert
You should look at Britain’s most effective adverts. They are quite shocking but needs to be to get u thinking
I’m same with the horror ads
i remember the dog breath one, but yeah.. a night out drinking and eating crap food. you're going to wake up with some nasty stink.. lol
i used to find it quite funny
I find it funny he randomly takes pills then the dog just vanishes
Also, (sorry - I’m on a roll now, with this commentary!!!) but Number 4, “The Engineer”, I thought was super cool!!! (Though I don’t recall ever having seen it ‘for real’). If anything, I think, it needed MORE action & violence. The choreography was great in the fight scenes; the music (that heavy, dry, typical European/German style EDM was spot on). That was a superb couple of minutes; I just wish it had been longer and heavier!!!!
"Too violent" lol I've seen adverts for police dramas with more violence than that and actual blood
@@samuelpinder1215
Yep same here…..
i like being scared
so i like to watch horror movies in the early hours of the morning,in a dark room ,all alone...thats the best way to do it.
Love your videos mate always good but now all i want is to see you react to scary ads because i just know it would be hilarious to see your reaction.
Is the blonde woman in the KFC ad the same actress that plays that foghorn voiced nag of a woman from Coronation Street? I can't remember the name, she's married to Kirky.
Monsters Inc pixar movie is about my level. Can't watch zombies I really freak out. Some ads do take it way to far. Their used to be a lady called Mary White House that made it her life's work to get bad things off the TV and sometimes I see something bad and say Where's Mary Whitehouse.
To be honest, the funniest "banned commercials" come from the USA...seriously! Check out the "banned" Miller lite or Bud lite (I forget which) ones. I was pretty shocked by a couple of them as for the US they're VERY "close to the knuckle" as we say, lol. E.G. the one with the guy pumping up his "soccer ball" while watching TV, and my all time favourite...guy walks a girl home and asks for BJ! 🤣 (though I forget if that's for beer or mastercard.) They're hilarious though.
Mastercard I think, as I remember the end now "...having a dad with a sense of humor - priceless!".
Posting this comment here because the comments section of the most effective adverts video was turned off:
IDK if you were fighting the urge to cry because maybe you thought it was babyish or you thought it was unmanly (as most young boys & men tend to think) but it would've been okay to just start crying; those ads were effective for a reason - because they were made to be emotional. Anytime you react to something like that, don't think that we'll judge you if you cry, okay?
Marie Stopes is now known as MSI Reproductive Choices; its slogan is "Delivering reproductive choice to women and girls since 1976," so it's like a Planned Parenthood type place that "was founded to support women to pursue their own futures, on their terms, with access to high-quality, client-centred contraception and abortion care." And no, for anyone reading, they both don't just help women get abortions, but serve to educate them about the different choices that they have (like both those women were late, so they could've gone to MSI to learn about Plan B or any other types of emergency contraception). I've been a supporter of Planned Parenthood for a few years; they offer so much more than just abortions (just sick of people still spreading those rumors & lies).
I had to agree about the KFC one; kids are going to be obnoxious anyway, let them watch the damn ad! And yeah, I haven't eaten there in a while but I've been hearing that the quality has dipped from what it was. I guess it's a good thing a Taco Bell is being built near me because the only other choices around here Subway (not too bad), McDonald's (I rarely eat that stuff anymore), & KFC & given how much gas I have to use up to get there compared to the others (including the Taco Bell), I'm not paying however much for a bucket when gas is still so expensive; I can literally walk to the others!
Is that a cockroach on the top right corner of your door frame? That could mean there's an evil spirit living inside the closet!
You need to react to celebrity juice best bits!
5,000 nothing. I smoke more than double that during sex. You should see the friction burns on me and my Girlfriends.
That KFC ad cracks me up every time I see it :D
I've been binging ur vids so much, u actually give a reactions lmao, love it mate
The blind footballer advert would work better with a stray troupe of morris dancers
I love horror movies! My all-time favourite is The Exorcist ...... maybe you should watch it, Joel, bwahahahaha. I'm more surprised any parent would let their kids eat KFC, lol, let alone worry the commercial might encourage bad manners. I barely remember some of these. I definitely don't recall the Pot Noodle commercial. And there are actual blind football teams. That commercial WAS funny, Meowwwwwwwwwwww.
Real life situations shown in a realistic setting ............the exact opposite from Happy world USA adds ? i think so .
I would guess several of these got complaints because of the time-slot they were broadcast in.
Chances are the KFC ad was broadcast during the day (no fast food adverts are allowed during the day anymore in the UK), when kids could be watching and the whole "eating with your mouth full" *is* bad manners.
The Bernardo's "break the cycle" is more about kids being abused going through more trauma, and continuing to be abused, rathan than (as you said) the abused abusing others.
I'm not sure how the Marie Stopes one was "promoting abortion", saying if someone is late thay can call a number to learn their options is hardly "promoting."
The "Act On CO2" advert was probably complained about by people who deny the science of climate change. Again, a whole load of ignoramuses complaining about something they don't understand because they don't have the education
I remember the KFC one being on TV and I think it was during the day and in the evening, I vaguely remember seeing it on Channel 4 around 6-8pm with The Simpsons & Hollyoaks but that was back before the ban on Junk food adverts during the day when kids watching.
You nearly said oh. F at the 2nd ad its so funny 🤣 a Do horror movie really scare you
As an ex smoker I don't think the hooked advert was all that bad.
Children and teens don't need an advert to make them foul mouthed, bad mannered, nasty or rude. Most of them have parents who are like that.
'Most' of them? You should probably start spending time with new people if most of the people you know are like that.
@@amethystlarktree5962 I don't know anyone like that. I see them on my estate.
If you knew the history of Barnardo's maybe you would fume as much as me. If they had believed in their own line "Believe in children" back in the 1950s and 1960s, then the lives of TENS OF THOUSANDS of children's would not have been ruined. Barnardo's was rotten to the core and, personally, I don't trust them today.
I absolutely hate commercial #5. The book is literally describing weather, not climate. Also, the atmosphere has to contain at least 6% CO2 or life can't be sustained. That commerical is such a lie.
The 2010 .. 'Act on CO2' .. doesn't look so unreasonable now .. does it?
When we look around the world and what is happening with extreme fires, floods, cyclones/hurricanes, etc
I'm 47 and I only remember the KFC one, God knows who picks these ads. Where's the Tango ads? They were cancelled because kids were going round school hitting each other. And if you want shocking, check out the Don't Drink And Drive ads, or the HIV/AIDS Awareness from the 80s... you might want to have your favourite teddy bear handy, just saying
Try these ones from the same company
