Calligraphy was mandatory to learn as part of our art classes for everyone when I was in Middle School in Iran, it's hard to master but very calming to practice and very beautiful at the end ❤️

Beautiful work! I have created a similar pen for my cartoon illustration. I have access to a field full of Bamboo on my property and an endless resource. This is so much better than some plastic nonsense and an over priced plastic (most of today's fancy pens just use fancy words for describing what is basically a plastic body) fountain pen. There was two type of wood material for 'kalam' that we used, first one was called 'narkul' or 'narkat' and second one 'musk-bed' in Hindi. (Because I am from North India) thank you for reminding this beautiful memory, lots of love from India❤️❤️❤️❤️🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳

मै बनारस से हूँ। नगर निगम के स्कूल में पढ़ा हूँ। इस कलम को हम लोग "करिंच" बोलते हैं,अपने बचपन मे कक्षा 8 (1982) तक प्रयोग किया था। जब स्कूल जाते थे, तो घर से दावत और उसमें नीली चमकदार स्याही, ख़ूब बढ़िया सा छील कर बनाई गई करिंच ले जाते थे।आपस मे एक दूसरे सुन्दर लिखाने व गुरु के नज़र अच्छा दिखने की होड़ रहती थी। उस समय की बात और थी। गुरु-शिष्य का रिश्ता दिल का होता था।
My English is not good if there is any mistake, so please ..... I'm from Varanasi. I read in primary/middle school of city corporation (NAGAR NIGAM, VARANASI). This type of pen which is a wooden stick, we called "krinch", in my childhood, I used it till class 8th (1982). We carry a inkpot with radiant blue ink when go to school.

Amin,...its a lost art and lost skill. Handwriting skills alone has been pretty much discarded and ignored here in the states and it is a crime.
