I think the confusion she speaks of is not necessarily the literal initials of the ANC or MK. The fact of the matter between the early 1960s and up until late last year MK or uMkhonto Wesizwe was the armed wing of the ANC. The ANC gave birth to Mkhonto Wesizwe (spear of the nation) . Formed and led by prominent leaders of the ANC. So for more than half a century (if my maths is correct) South Africa (and the world) associated MK with the Nelson Mandelas, the Walter Sisulu, Chris Hanis etc and as part of the ANC's brand or identity. So now in 2023 only a yr ago the MK is no longer part of the ANC but totally independent from the ANC.... However in its independence the emblem (branding) bears the same colours as the ANC's and a spear. Additionally prominent members of the MK party (who are still ANC card holders members) publicly say that they are still ANC but not Ramaphosa's ANC. Surely That is bound to cause some sort of confusion especially if you break down 58% voter turnout. There was a little bit of confusion. And that is a fact. This confusion is just that - CONFUSION - and does not mean we are stupid as South African voters. And i believe that is all she is saying here.
