That was a great review! I can't wait until you find an amazing Canadian whisky. By the way, that was a spot on pronunciation of my last name. Good on you, Daniel.
I've never had that brand of C.C. but I LOVE Forty Creek. You can get it for $20 U.S. ? We pay $40 Canadian up here. And that's a steal. It's my go to when nothing else decent is available. I actually thought it was all corn mash.
You did not just make a Fraggle Rock reference! That's so awesome! My gf thinks he looks like a whiskey samurai! Another thing that made me happy is that Burly Mullens looks EXACTLY like I pictured him. Amazing!
Hey guys! Yesterday was my 21st birthday and cause of you guys the first bottle of whiskey I bought myself was Green Spot. It was amazing and the perfect way to end a day that started with skydiving and a pub crawl. Love you guys, keep up the awesome work!
Being a purebred canadian, I hate canadian club with a burning passion. It tastes like gasoline with added colour and caramel. While forty creek is pure and real and just overall amazing - the difference really is night and day.
CC Chairman's Select Rye isn't bad at all. But regular CC tastes like cigarette butts and even their 12 yo tastes like menthol cigarette butts. Comparing 40 Creek CO to run of the mill CC makes me wonder if those two were dropped on their heads as children
Way back in the seventies I got ahold of a 500ml bottle of Canadian called Olympic that was aged for 16 yrs. and finished in sherry casks. It was delicious if a little sweet. They not only can make great whiskey, they do. It just doesn't head south to US. Like try getting Glenmorangie 16, you can't, they drink it all in Scotland.
I like Copper Pot AND Barrel Select. Canadian Club WAS my first dram of Whisk(e)y oddly enough. Coincidence?!... probably not. Drinking Barrel Select at $28 CAD
Copper Pot makes an awesome Manhattan. Barrel Select not so much, but it makes a great whisky sour. Can't touch CC any more; it was my high school whisky.
Before he even said it I knew Daniel was gonna say davin's name then. I've got his book about Canadian whiskey. Haven't read it yet though lol. Another good episode guys. Cheers.
Recently bought a bottle of Forty Creek Spike for a friend. It's a decent dessert whisky, similar to Honey Jack, though I would say less honey and more whisky. Would be good for some basic cocktail mix, but is pleasant as an after dinner sipper (if you enjoy sweeter, friendly whisky).
Keep an eye out for Alberta Premium Dark Horse whiskey. Sells for around $35 Canadian. Not sure how widely available it is in the States, or even if it's sold here. I used to pick up a bottle when traveling to Montreal on business. Scratch that. I just saw your review #149, which might be the same stuff but under a different name?
2023 just watching one of your old videos forty Creek 100% used to drink Wiser's Deluxe never go back you need to try their Bolivar coffee liqueur welcome to Canada
I live about 20 minutes away from Forty Creek distillery in Grimsby, Ontario. At 51 years old, I just started to learn about whiskey. I love your channel - funny guys and genuinely down to earth. I just purchased Forty Creek Copper Pot. I like it, but I don't have anything to really compare to. What can you recommend? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?
Well you guys really are a good/bad influence. I finally got away from sweet and friendly speysides. The bad news is I just walked out of Total Wine with 3 bottles... Oban 14, Bunahabbin 12 and Del Bac Classic (because I live in Phoenix so it is cool to try something nearby). And as friendly as Del Bac is, it really is interesting to find the different notes that was not in... for example Glenrothes. And my taste of Oban was good. My first sip just screamed "olives" at me. Luckily I could not find the Hibiki Harmony that was listed as being in stock. Because that was expensive enough as it is! Now I get to enjoy some deeper flavors the next couple of months.
This was my first Canadian Whiskey. Amazing bargain at $12.00 USD. Does anyone else find that after leaving out for about 5 minutes, it tastes like chocolate banana bread? Damn it Mooch, stop trying to up the price on this. We need all the good, but cheap, whisky we can get.
I love you guys. The "ass****" level of sarcasm makes me feel like I'm in a room full of the water of life with my closest circle of friends/brothers. You are extremely helpful in my whisk[e]y purchases. During my time in the Navy I had the privilege of stopping in Madeira and loved the Malmsey I was able to acquire there. I would greatly appreciate a review on the Glenmorangie Bacalta, seeing as it is "extra-matured" in Malmsey barrels.
Canadianwhiskey.com is no longer there. I really enjoyed the Forty Creek... much smoother than my old go-to Seagram's VO... looking forward to trying some more Canadians... any thoughts on the top 5? $$$ no object...
Everybody is telling me how good Forty Creek is so I bought a small bottle to try. I'm not much for the hard stuff, but I do like my speciality drinks. The distillery is one town down from mine and in my neck of the woods, and I like to support local business. Forty Creek is actually smooth going down and the effect from one shot was a nice mellow buzz. Goes down well in a vintage glass. One-shot was enough to warm me up.
I get cream, citrus, apricot, nuts - maybe almonds? Chocolate too. But not any discernible spice unless I drink while eating and then I'll get spice intensified from what I'm eating
Whiskey Vault Yeah, I'll get different flavours and experiences drinking whisky based on many factors, like whether I had eaten prior to or during drinking, time of day, mood, whether I'm engaged socially in conversation, or quiet and pensive. Also, with a dram, I'll get different focus of flavour whether it's my first, second sip, etc. Whether I take time with the whisky in my mouth, allowing it to move around, top, bottom of tongue, front, sides... whether I breathe in a few seconds after I swallow, or if I go immediately to the next sip, or drink water in between to reset my palate. I'm the type to take my time with a dram usually.
Hello all you Magnificent Bastards, I have loved whiskey since being brought back a Jura 12 from Scotland at age 18 (legal as a Canadian), and since have collected ~8 other scotches from special occasions. That said, I have been 'limited' to buying cheaper whiskeys, as scotches are minimum 60$ here, and something like a Lag 16 will put a fellow back 145$ CAD (102.86 USD). However, I found that despite eying the scotches with envy each time I purchased whiskey, I really did enjoy a lot of the cheaper whiskeys I bought; Pendleton midnight, caldera hurricane 5, Collingwood, 12 year old Canadian club, John Barr, and a regional local "Canadian shield" to name a few. I am so happy I stumbled upon this community about a month ago because before that, I actually felt guilty for enjoying these cheaper whiskeys, that I should instead find them far inferior to the scotch gold standard. I also felt a distinct discontentment for snobbishly and negatively the other whiskey communities discussed the whiskeys I was enjoying. Here, I was instead told that the best whiskey was the one you like to drink... and nothing rings so fundamentally true to me as that statement. Although I still very much adore some of the scotches I have tried, I will be in school for at least 4 more years and am hoping to first explore the world of more affordable whiskeys, so if anyone has recommendations based on their favourite budget whiskeys I would be extremely appreciative! A big thank you to the Whiskey Tribe! Yours, A fellow whiskey lover
wild turkey 101 - flavor monster zero harshness (im not crazy about lot 40 or rye spice/burn in general) despite 101 proof, and cheap price best value in bourbon imho
Hahahaha the great grand mooch master gained another skill: Mooch aura - gain mooch presence where you no longer have to demand/ask/slight of hand whiskey, but rather your mere presence allows you to mooch without saying a word!
Try and compare the Canadian club to the 12 year old Canadian club small batch. It costs $23 in Canada where we are notoriously overpaying for our vices.
There's a really nice whiskey here in the Rockies called Canadian Rockies 21 YO, it's my favourite Canadian Whiskey. It's probably near impossible to find in the USA though since I have difficulty getting my hands on it here in Alberta. I would send you guys a bottle but I'm a student and the shipping kill my wallet. If you ever come across one it's worth picking up, it's about 60 CAN. Been loving the Canadian reviews though, glad to see you can get more than just crown royal down there.
Hey guys, I know you guys can't or haven't seen many Canadian whiskies but have you ever had a chance to try something from the Gibson's finest line? Would love to herethat your thoughts Oh and there not screw top 😀👍
Posting again because I need it! A few months back, I met my fiancee's family out in New York. They are Puerto Rican and love their alcohol, but prefer their Heineken, Corona, and Disaronno. While I was there, they all poured shots of Disaronno and did a family toast, which I was made a part of, signaling their acceptance of me into the family. I'm Scotch-Irish , and wanted to do the same for them when I see them next, and wanted to do it with some sort of whiskey. However, they aren't whisk(e)y drinkers, and I don't want to get them something that will make them hate me and curse my unborn great great grandchildren. Keeping in mind that they LOVE Disaronno (which is amaretto, if you didn't know), what would you recommend for them? I'd prefer an Irish or Scottish whiskey, if possible.
Vitotaylor36 if they prefer sweeter spirt you could try Drambuie, it's a scotch with honey and herbs. Or if you want an Irish one you could go for Bushmills Honey or Irish mist.
Daniel can chime in - but dude... if they're not whiskey people, why roll the dice?? Get them something you know they'll love! For example, is there a special bottling of that Disaronno stuff? If so, let it be the main attraction if you're trying to put their preferences before yours. Then, a little later - after everyone has loosed up a bit, you can pull out little bonus bottle and share your personal favorite whiskey with them. You'll have the safety of sharing something you know they love, with the generosity and adventure of a new thing that you're personally excited about.
Growing up in Ontario, Forty Creek has become synonymous with budget-whiskies to me. I never enjoyed their stuff, but still I often found half-empty bottles of it left over at my college house parties, back in the day that is. It is relatively pretty affordable stuff though -- 1750-ml is like $63 CAD. Jack and diet Coke is what I'll do if forced, but I can't ingest a neat whiskey unless it's costing like $50 per bottle or more. I just don't like the taste of turpentine, but some of the polished stuff is just phenomenal. I didn't even really crave a whiskey of any sort really until I was gifted a bottle of nice Dalmore cigar malt. It opened my mind to the belief that good whiskeys can exist. The polished stuff seems to start around $100 CAD in Ontario. Like, a Balvenie 12 yo and Dalmore 12 are $100 CAD each! ($76 USD?) I don't really enjoy Glenlivet or Glenfiddich all that much; it's not rewarding enough, but I can at least finish a pour. Those bottles go for about $60 CAD per 750ml here, which is at least affordable I guess. I want to enjoy, and not just tolerate my whiskey though, so I'm stuck spending $100 or more still. If anyone has some suggestions for Ontario on cheap yet awesome whiskeys, let me know. only place I can easily buy from is the LCBO sadly, so keep that in mind.
Hey guys after watching this video i decided to pick up a bottle of Forty Creek Barrel Select to give it try. Its really nice and has some oak taste. But i was wondering if i was the only one that got balsamic vinegar on the noise and a little on the taste?
always a blast to watch you two, and always left wishing there was more. badly wanting to see you guys try the balvenie 14 Caribbean cask. i know ralfy does a review on it but cant bring myself to watch it as i would feel like im cheating on you lol.
You said at the end of the video : See you tomorrow !! on the Friday episode !!!! You just committed to release a video Tomorrow !! Saturday!!!! Thank you guys !!! Don't let your viewers down !!!
Justgreenish He did! I know I've hopped on RUclips on saturday before only to find myself really disappointed bc I forgot there's no new episode. It's depressing!
Rex, New welcome video? What is this? Please, we need spoilers!! Hey, I already feel like I m mooching an episode over the week-end! What more could I ask for? ... Now that I ve come to think about it, 2 welcome episodes would be better that only 1...😇
Hey again guys. As a father of 4 (including 2 teens) I need to find a place where I can get away and enjoy a dram on occasion. Can either of you fine gentlemen recommend anywhere in the Far North better known as Williamson County (Round Rock/Georgetown area. Maybe even Pflugerville if I must.) Also, I know the name of the channel is Whiskey Vault, but if someone were to send you something other than whiskey (but still a spirit of course) would Rex still mooch it in the name of moochitude? Even Ralfy changes things up every once in a while. P.S. Love me some Burley Mullins! With the name, look, and voice the universe (and probably the spirit eagle) decided he must drink mead. But should be out of a horn, not some puny wine glass. He needs to make frequent guest appearances!
I think we many need to get Burley to guest host. Rex will mooch everything. North Austin is hard. It's always been viewed by me as South Dallas :-) I think further research is in order.
Oh yea, I read something last night that made me a happy man! Did you know Arran distillery is starting a new site on the island set to open next year? It's gonna focus on heavily peated whiskey due to the popularity of Machrie Moor. I know you're a big fan of Arran so you prob love Machrie Moor just as I do. I can't wait to try some!
Whiskey Vault I know! Here's the article if you wanna read it: thewhiskeywash.com/whiskey-styles/scotch-whiskey/isle-arran-distillery-expands-new-distilling-facility-visitor-centers/
Fraggle Rock, You're some funny sob's 😉 Just picked up knob creek single barrel, at 120 proof! HFS it'll grow hair on a tin roof. Not pretty but fun after closin time.
I see that Lismore there next to the Glenfiddichs. . . I need you guys to try it, and feel my pain. I was going to get Caol Ila 8, but I cheaped out and got the Lismore 12. My disappointment was endless
@Whiskey Vault you're all over the place on this one. At one point your praising the 40 creek and the next your talking about how simple it is. The fact is you're looking for a larger more complex flavor in both distillers basic entry point whiskies which are used as mixing spirits. If your looking for more, try 40 creek confederation oak reserve. In most cases you get what you pay for in my opinion.
If it's really a "secret bar" that needs a password--exclusive knowledge that can't be shared with the masses-- why purposely read the question and bring it up? Cooly changing subjects LOL so slick guys. You're so cool dudes rock on.
Glad you guys like it but imo forty creek is not only the worst canadian whiskey but possibly the worst whiskey I've ever had. It tastes like cheap rum posing as a whiskey, but like, a really cheap rum. I hate it. I'm happy someone is enjoying the stuff because theres so damn much of it.
Every time I see Canadian or American Whiskey in the aisles, I am always underwhelmed by the packaging/screw top. I know never to judge a book by its cover, but it's so tempting when a bottle comes in a metal canister or basically a chest - like opening up a treasure from another time.
..Oh yeah, and speaking of opening a treasure box- What's your guy's thoughts of the "whiskey of the year"? I know they occasionally "announce" the best whiskey for this year, and how they come to that consensus I have no clue(since that's like announcing: Wine of the Year... there are so many that it's impossible to get a fair scope and those who are able to afford it are probably rich or dead from liver failure), but I know you guys have tried some of them. Are they mainly a marketing ploy to sell more whiskey? Or perhaps do you genuinely think they are award worthy? I saw something written about Kilchoman which I know Daniel did a review for one of his first set of reviews, but I also saw something about Booker Rye. I have no idea how they decide, but I know I respect Daniel ( and even Rex's ) opinions of these sorts of things on whether they're worth the money or not. Just curious to see what your thoughts on "whiskeys of the year" were.
Hey guys big fan, I was wondering with the school year starting back up again could you do a list of budget whiskeys for broke college kids like me? Love the content keep it up
hey guys after watching your videos i decided to get more into whiskey (i used to only drink chivas), so i got myself a spey side aberlour 16 years double cask, and i just founded it too harsh and not enjoyable, then i got a dalmore 12 and loved it, finished half the bottle in 3 days, then i got myself a lagavulin 16, and i loved that even more, and even now i pour myself glasses of lagavulin and aberlour side by side, and i find the lagavulin more enjoyable, is it normal to find an isla whiskey easier to drink and lovelier than a spey side? edit: maybe do an Aberlour 16 double cask review?
I feel the same way about heavy sherry speysides. To clingy and heavy. It's weird to think of a Speyside as heavy, but in my mind Lagavulin is rich but with a lighter presence.
Whiskey Vault that makes sense, see that's the kind of insightful feedback that you can expect from an informed sommelier and not a mooch, I don't even know why he is in the videos (j/k) :)
Hey y’all are awesome I watch the guys that is all the time really gives me a perspective on what’s out there. I just got into bourbon or year or so ago. I saw your review on The Canadian club reserves 9 year. I was wondering if you could do a review on Canadian club classic 12 year. It is my go to cheaper bourbon, and in my opinion a damn good complex bourbon for the price. If you like the nine-year-old try the 12-year-old.Keep up the reviews y’all are awesome
A review on the CC 12 year would be nice, CC 100% Rye would be very interesting too. Btw just for your information Canadian Club is Canadian whisky, not Bourbon ;-)
"For the price." It's a sub $20 whiskey, and in that price range it was nice enough. For a few bucks more, forty creek has a bit more going on. But we didn't get rubber notes at all, that's weird.
I bought it with a few other whiskeys yesterday and showed up at a friend's house to try them later that day. So, it was an unopened bottle and we ended up pouring them down the drain after trying to get through it for about ten minutes. And I may be spoiled. I live in Kentucky so I can get really good bottles of bourbon for under $20. Maybe I just experienced what normal people think cheap whiskey is.
I am no expert. At all. Like... no where near it. But I have been dabbling with different Canadian whiskey (being a Canadian I have much more choice). And I feel like Canadian whiskey is not given it's due. I truly feel there is a lot more to the Canadian product but not readily available outside of small areas and specific releases. Caribou crossing (made in Quebec) is the best whisky I have every experienced, in my very humble opinion. It's just very hard to get your hands on.
Forty creek is my all time favourite regular go to whiskey! Also ive got my girlfriend on the whiskey wagon lol this would be her #1 as well! Ps. Fraggle Rock!!! 🤣🤣🤣 also im canadian hence my canadian whiskey appreciation hahaha
im a new subscriber and going back on old videos! I live in toronto and work in a whisky bar and love all types of whisky. the whisky that got me into it is Ardbeg Corryvreckan, however to get into canadian whisky you have to try some of the good stuff! this is an entry level 25 dollar bottle. (the cheapest you can buy a 750ml bottle in ontario is 25 dollars, thank you lcbo lol) please come up here if you ever get the chance!
It seems that sending it across the border can present some issues. I have a couple I want to send (Shelter Point and Yukon Distillers), but I have a feeling I may have to bring it with me and ship from within the US. :-/
I quite like their Innovative (Release 2 & 5...#2 sold out in the Yukon, so I'm going off the #5 :-)I have tried all their current offerings (3, 4, 5, 6), and they definitely have something distinctive on the go. In general, Western Canada has something a little different to offer compared to the bigger operations out of the East (like CC, Crown, and even Forty Creek).
Canadian Whisky Smith we have the “big labels” but we also have some small guys. 66 gilead, 12 barrels (haven’t tried yet). It’s stupid that it’s hard getting stuff from out east
40 Creek is good Canadian whiskey. Much better than Crown Royal, I can't even drink that stuff. For 30 bucks you really can't go wrong with 40 Creek. But I'd rather spend 30 more and get a bottle of Black Label.
Here i was just watchin Ralfy review my fave 40 Creek Copper Pot Reserve. A much better whiskey than Barrel select, we both found. Hopefully you can find it or i'll sock it to ya! (dad pun?)
I live about 15 minutes from the Forty Creek distillery and I gotta say, I am not a fan... If you want a great Canadian whiskey, get a bottle of Lot No40(Rye), Lohin McKinnon(Single Malt), or Dillons Three Oaks (Rye).
The fact that they thought it could easily be a $45-$50 whiskey speaks really highly of it.
Rated Number 1 among a tasting of Canadian whiskeys. According to the tag, I believe. I buy Forty Creek all the time.
hattrick1972 I always have it stocked as well. It's very tasty and enjoyable to drink.
you should try the wayne gretzky 99 whisky
Just grabbed a bottle of my first Forty Creek Copper Pot, really excited to pour it! I wanna try the Cream Liqueur next!
That was a great review! I can't wait until you find an amazing Canadian whisky.
By the way, that was a spot on pronunciation of my last name. Good on you, Daniel.
40 fab
Forty Creek really is good Canadian Whisky

that sounds good. And happy damn birthday!
Being a purebred canadian, I hate canadian club with a burning passion. It tastes like gasoline with added colour and caramel. While forty creek is pure and real and just overall amazing - the difference really is night and day.
I truly like canadian club especially the 100% rye but its no comparison to forty creek! 👌🏼 haha
I completely agree 👌😁
A.J. Smith came to the comments to say exactly what you said it got on my nerves how similar they make them sound
Have to agree, Canadian club 9 year old hootch, not great, and 40 creek has so much more to offer
CC Chairman's Select Rye isn't bad at all. But regular CC tastes like cigarette butts and even their 12 yo tastes like menthol cigarette butts. Comparing 40 Creek CO to run of the mill CC makes me wonder if those two were dropped on their heads as children
When it comes to whiskey in Canada, first we train for quantity then we move to quality.
Yeah I don't think I can blame your dad for that one! Pretty funny that you guys are like "eh yeah it was horrible, here's a card to go see it" haha.
Wonderfully horrible.
I have purchased this for 26 dollars cdn. This for the money blows everything at our LCBO in Toronto away.
Way back in the seventies I got ahold of a 500ml bottle of Canadian called Olympic that was aged for 16 yrs. and finished in sherry casks. It was delicious if a little sweet. Gooderham & worts, pike creek and lot 40 are some solid Canadian whiskey for you two to try.
I'd love to see Lot 40 and Stalk & Barrel reviews as other examples of what Canadian whiskeys can be.
YEEESSSSSSSS!!!! Glen Breton 10! My prayers have been answered!!!!!!!
Hahahaha the great grand mooch master gained another skill: Mooch aura - gain mooch presence where you no longer have to demand/ask/slight of hand whiskey, but rather your mere presence allows you to mooch without saying a word!

I'll need to track this down!
because the quality and price of this... it makes it very nice for cooking. Im grilling a ham for thanksgiving using the barrel select.
Another suggestion, if you haven't already, I'd suggest looking into Kansas City Whiskeys. Union Horse, J.Rieger, Restless Spirits etc.
We'll see about getting some!
Hey guys love the show, if you can get your hands on Lot no.40 down there it's fantastic giver a try cheers
Hey guys, I know you guys can't or haven't seen many Canadian whiskies but have you ever had a chance to try something from the Gibson's finest line? Would love to herethat your thoughts
Oh and there not screw top 😀👍
You guys ever gonna try out Kavalan? It won some sort of awards this year, and couple years back it won whisky of the year
I did one during the Whisky Advent calendar, but we'll add it to the list for our new round.
The Barrel Select - Part of the aging is done with used Sherry casks. Once I had discovered this, all I can taste and smell is the Sherry.
($76 USD?)
I don't really enjoy Glenlivet or Glenfiddich all that much; it's not rewarding enough, but I can at least finish a pour.
Forty creek never really felt like a well drink to me but I prefer the spike honey spiced over the standard forty creek
bourbon - way more flavor than cheap whiskeys for same $ bulleit, turkey 101
Congrats on 7K subscribers!
Jason Kleschult, thanks for watching!
Thanks Jason!
Jason Kleschult 25k now
Glad you guys have stumbled on to Canadian humility. Quality and affordable
You may remember that about 5 years ago, Daniel Dorrah gave me a bottle of this for Xmas. It may still be lying around here somewhere.
Hey guys after watching this video i decided to pick up a bottle of Forty Creek Barrel Select to give it try. Its really nice and has some oak taste. But i was wondering if i was the only one that got balsamic vinegar on the noise and a little on the taste?
always a blast to watch you two, and always left wishing there was more. badly wanting to see you guys try the balvenie 14 Caribbean cask. i know ralfy does a review on it but cant bring myself to watch it as i would feel like im cheating on you lol.
heheh, do it! ralfy has a very different approach to reviews - no love lost here 😋 .. in the meantime, i'll bug daniel about the balvenie.
It's in the list to do! And Ralfy is awesome. Definitely not cheating :-)
It's depressing!
at least, if you waste your week-end this time you can blame Rex and Daniel !!
Hahahahah !!
How about a compromise. We won't have a Saturday review, but would you settle for a new Welcome video on Sunday?
Rex done make it happen!
Rex, New welcome video?
What is this? Please, we need spoilers!!
Hey, I already feel like I m mooching an episode over the week-end!
What more could I ask for?
... Now that I ve come to think about it, 2 welcome episodes would be better that only 1...😇
New subscriber. have you ever done a best of canadian whiskeys? They're not common in the netherlands but would be keen to find out more!
Hey again guys. As a father of 4 (including 2 teens) I need to find a place where I can get away and enjoy a dram on occasion. Can either of you fine gentlemen recommend anywhere in the Far North better known as Williamson County (Round Rock/Georgetown area. Maybe even Pflugerville if I must.)
Also, I know the name of the channel is Whiskey Vault, but if someone were to send you something other than whiskey (but still a spirit of course) would Rex still mooch it in the name of moochitude? Even Ralfy changes things up every once in a while.
P.S. Love me some Burley Mullins! With the name, look, and voice the universe (and probably the spirit eagle) decided he must drink mead. But should be out of a horn, not some puny wine glass. He needs to make frequent guest appearances!
I think we many need to get Burley to guest host.
Rex will mooch everything.
North Austin is hard. It's always been viewed by me as South Dallas :-) I think further research is in order.
Looks like i have to send in some mead then.
Burley Mullins, yes! Feel free to send in more toast clips too. Everyone here loved your burleyness. 👍
It's good and similar to CC it's a good mixer and it's cheap so what's not to like?
On the topic of budget whisk(e)y do you guys have any plastic bottles? Like northern lights Canadian.
I can't wait to try some!
this is freaking awesome!
I love Machrie Moor.
Whiskey Vault I know! Here's the article if you wanna read it: thewhiskeywash.com/whiskey-styles/scotch-whiskey/isle-arran-distillery-expands-new-distilling-facility-visitor-centers/
Which Island. We have ten million of them
Fraggle Rock, You're some funny sob's 😉 Just picked up knob creek single barrel, at 120 proof! HFS it'll grow hair on a tin roof. Not pretty but fun after closin time.
Fishpig65, me thinks me needs to try it
Just grabbed a bottle of Forty Creek for 17 bucks here in Pennsylvania. Definitely surprised at the quality to the price.
way to sneak a dad joke in and have Rex help set it up. Masterful
I see that Lismore there next to the Glenfiddichs. . .
I need you guys to try it, and feel my pain. I was going to get Caol Ila 8, but I cheaped out and got the Lismore 12. My disappointment was endless
ooohhhhh man..... I feel your pain.
Forty Creek Copper Pot tastes like butter toffee nuts. Try it again!
If it's really a "secret bar" that needs a password--exclusive knowledge that can't be shared with the masses-- why purposely read the question and bring it up? Cooly changing subjects LOL so slick guys. You're so cool dudes rock on.
I drink the Double barrel reserve and the Honey spiced In the 40 Creek line and really like it.
I know never to judge a book by its cover, but it's so tempting when a bottle comes in a metal canister or basically a chest - like opening up a treasure from another time.
..Oh yeah, and speaking of opening a treasure box-
What's your guy's thoughts of the "whiskey of the year"?
It's a marketing thing these days. Whisky taste is so subjective it's silly to pick one and say "You win!"
Unless they find a Shrimp cocktail flavored whiskey that is, that's a clear winner
Hey guys big fan, I was wondering with the school year starting back up again could you do a list of budget whiskeys for broke college kids like me? Love the content keep it up
Mmmmm. school year whisky. good plan.
Best. Outro. Ever.
That laugh at the end kills.
Agreed
Great video. Hopefully you guys make a top 10 dirt cheap wiskey video.
Please taste Coureur des Bois, best maple whiskey in Canada
I think both 'creek & 'club are better than both Jameson & bushmill's standard offerings, but I don't think people dare upset the irish.
I request you taste the new Whistlepig Boss Hog IV - The Black Prince. Looks like a pricey but yummy bottle. Make is so ...
I'll try to get it!
hey guys after watching your videos i decided to get more into whiskey (i used to only drink chivas), so i got myself a spey side aberlour 16 years double cask, and i just founded it too harsh and not enjoyable, then i got a dalmore 12 and loved it, finished half the bottle in 3 days, then i got myself a lagavulin 16, and i loved that even more, and even now i pour myself glasses of lagavulin and aberlour side by side, and i find the lagavulin more enjoyable, is it normal to find an isla whiskey easier to drink and lovelier than a spey side?
edit: maybe do an Aberlour 16 double cask review?
I feel the same way about heavy sherry speysides. To clingy and heavy. It's weird to think of a Speyside as heavy, but in my mind Lagavulin is rich but with a lighter presence.
Whiskey Vault that makes sense, see that's the kind of insightful feedback that you can expect from an informed sommelier and not a mooch, I don't even know why he is in the videos (j/k) :)
Moe Ram, I gave your earlier comment a thumbs up. Then I read further down the thread...
i mooched a thumbs up from the mooch!!
i kid rex, the channel sucks without you, who cares what is the motto of the mackenzie clan for example!
Moe Ram, you will be forgiven for your insolence by simply giving me every whiskey you own, and every whiskey you will ever own. 😜
I have always got a butterscotch finish from 40 Creek
I bought the Canadian club 12 based off of this review. It smells like tire rubber and tastes pretty similar. What happened?
"For the price." It's a sub $20 whiskey, and in that price range it was nice enough. For a few bucks more, forty creek has a bit more going on. But we didn't get rubber notes at all, that's weird.
Too weird. I wonder if it sat to long in the bottle. Was it a plastic bottle or glass?
I bought it with a few other whiskeys yesterday and showed up at a friend's house to try them later that day. So, it was an unopened bottle and we ended up pouring them down the drain after trying to get through it for about ten minutes.
And I may be spoiled. I live in Kentucky so I can get really good bottles of bourbon for under $20. Maybe I just experienced what normal people think cheap whiskey is.
Also, I may have drank quite a fair amount of whiskey before I made this comment. I apologise for my drunken assholery.
hahahahahah. fair enough.
Oh my god! The outro was a dad joke! Classic!
You guys should try the 40 Creek Double Barrel. I think you may be surprised.
CC and Forty Creek Barrel Select are generally the same price where I shop.
Me: drinks the same whiskey while watching video.
Also me: eats an almond right after.
You: I got ALMOND aftertaste.
Probably won't read this but i'm DESPERATELY looking for that "secret" place at Austin to taste Whiskey...
The only one I know of is the Floppy Disk Repair Company
Any suggestions for someone traveling through Canada wanting to pick up things that can't be had in the states?
Muskoka gin my dude.
Hey will there be a video on Widow Jane bourbon?
Yes!
On the 40 Creek I didn't really like the vanilla taste straight but. Made a excellent whisky and Coke
Lol I love that censor effect at 11:08
Forty Creek also has a spiked honey whiskey
Get the Double Barrel or Heritage Forty Creek. Much better than the select.
If I want to send you whiskey from our local distiller how do I go about doing that?
We'd be honored! You can find the details here: austinwhiskyvault.com/whisky-donations/
Why do Swedish war ships have barcodes on the side? So when they return to port they can Scandinavian. #DadJoke
hahahahahahahahahaha
5:08 I've seen Canadian Club Reserve and Classic with a cork top.
I think what Rex meant to say is the he can justify someone else spending up to $30 on it.
The Somm looks just like the friend from the "Hot Crazy matrix" skit If you guys have ever seen the RUclips video. I thought it was him for a while.
I just got the chance Ardbeg Dark Cove. It's amazing as well!
40 - this is my go to whiskey
I'm terrified of elevators.
I'm taking steps to avoid them.
How can we send you better Canadian whisky?!? I have a bottle of crimson rye I'd like to send!
UPS would be my recommendation. Thanks for the offer! austinwhiskyvault.com/whisky-donations/
It seems that sending it across the border can present some issues. I have a couple I want to send (Shelter Point and Yukon Distillers), but I have a feeling I may have to bring it with me and ship from within the US. :-/
Canadian Whisky Smith I thought about doing that. I’d love to try the Yukon whiskey! I’ve heard good things
(dad pun?)
Huh that's what i get for commenting before watching fully hehehe. next time add a drop or two to both. see what happens?
Ha! glad you caught that ending. :-)
Always! I got a Special place in my heart for my mother, whiskey, and women. Sláinte, Oh Master Mooch and Dad Joke Sommstraordinaire!
*bangs on table*
SECRET. BAR. SECRET! BAR!
I live about 15 minutes from the Forty Creek distillery and I gotta say, I am not a fan... If you want a great Canadian whiskey, get a bottle of Lot No40(Rye), Lohin McKinnon(Single Malt), or Dillons Three Oaks (Rye).
I have always gotten a walnut aftertaste from forty creek
My favourite Stuff
Love Forty Creek.
