tips for players who havent played the game:
1. do not watch walkthrough (the real purpose of he game is how you reach each colossi and explore)
2. every colossi has its own unique way to be dealt with.
3. its not Monster Hunter
4. sit back and enjoy the game (recommend until you reach the last colossi)
at least i have the best memory in my younger self when playin this game blindly when there aint no youtube or internet to guide me.

The light on the moutain, the effect it makes feels just real. Beyond words, the graphic work by bluepoint. The only detail i somewhat missed was Wander slightly bowing after you perform a jump. Gives the idea of him being young, persistent and kinda unexperient... But that's just a thought. Other than that, this game is a complete masterpiece.
(The sounds that Agro felt so real and new comparing with the original version! Blew me away...)
This is how all remasters should be done. Same gameplay but updated visuals that truly look like they were updated and not upscaled.

BladeNinja dude, this is not a remastered version... Its a remake of shadow of the colossus... The Remaster purpose is to increase the pixel of the old games to hd and smooth some edges because the foundation of the game was already there... In a remake version they need to remade the game all over again and back to square 1...
crapgamer reviews I don't really consider it a remake only because it's essentially the same game again man. If it was a genuine remake they would have charged full price which they aren't. It also has only slight altercation to the gameplay but the crux of what's different is the visuals have been reworked from the group up.
BladeNinja but in reality this game is a remake, because they build the game all over again without the foundation of the original game... The purpose of the remake game is to stay loyal with the true original game ,.but it all depends on the developers if they want to change it a little or not...
crapgamer reviews I'll say that in terms of definition you are correct that it's a remake then. However, I'm still on the remaster just because it's really the same game without any new bells and Whistles aside from the visuals and probably the gameplay aspect being more refined.

As beautiful as this game is, I feel like a part of me dies every time I kill one of the colossi, and then seeing Wander’s gradual deterioration. Watching this in higher resolution just makes it even more sad, knowing how the events will unfold...

Dormin’s voice seems to have the feminine side to be more prominent this time.
I noticed it too but I don't know. With the original voice I mainly just heard the deep male's voice but here, since I can hear them both together it actually sounds a lot creepier.
Thus enter modern feminism..
They don't sound as echo-ey as before, they seem way more out of sync. The first game has the voices just slightly out of sync to give Dormin that otherworldly sound. They seem to have widen the gap between the voices and that's why you can hear the female voice more clearly now, so now they're more out of sync, and they also added some annoying stuttering or something at the beginning of its speech which wasn't present in the original game or it at least started a few milliseconds later so it wasn't that noticeable before.
Well if Bruce Jenner can do it...
Kriegswolf it was feminine in the original too they did that on purpose they wanted to make dormin seem like a being that had no gender so they got both a boy and girl voice actor to speak the lines in japanese then mix matched the japanese and fused their voices together its a nice cool eerie tone its cool

I remember. Being so bad in the original demo on a ps2 disc that I never even found this guy I ran around and inside the temple for hours until I got frustrated and gave up lol

Dante Javier Castilla Maldonado I hope you genuinely enjoy it even half as much as I did when the original first released, because it definitely deserves the respect and extremely rare distinction of being known as a masterpiece. That's something fully earned in its achievements. It's kind of weird having new players approach it, though, already knowing the concept and fundamentals, when back before the internet was so prevalent, it was truly new and unknown and beautiful to experience something you recognized as special, for some, immediately, as the journey unfolded. Even without that element, the game holds up wonderfully, but it's a shame to be deprived of that powerful revelation. Apologies for ranting, I just love it dearly and wish for others to learn that love, in their own way, of course. Have fun and enjoy!

I like that the Dormin warned Wander that trying to raise the dead would cost him. Even though Dormin is evil it didn't lie to Wander. They told him the risks, Wander accepted them and in the end the Dormin fulfilled their bargain to the letter.
It's ridiculous how amazing this looks.

Though honestly, I don’t think they will. I believe there’s this expectation that if there’s an open world, there should be a million things to do and once they see the game is just a boss rush, they’ll call it shallow and outdated. But I might just be turning into a cynical old man so I hope I’m wrong.

I liked it better when Dormin's voice was an amalgamation of Echoes & Reverb. Where syllables were vague and rare, and echoes of crowded voices was Dormin's voice.
Made it mysterious and ethereal in a sense that the characters were able to understand Dormin with their unique tongue.
If Dormin spoke English like that, I doubt any of us would be able to understand him.

I still think that FFXII Zodiac Age should have deserved this level of model and texture remastering, I mean, they didn't even improve much of the clothe physics!

Haha, I don't think you've noticed, but it doesn't move, unlike other character's hairs. (It did in PS2 version though.)

Fyi is a made up language created by reversing japanese pronounciation.. thats what i remember.

So beautiful. The magic is really brought to life on the Pro. It's li me a brand new game. The sound, visuals, lighting and shadows are all so sharp.
Wander's face looks alot more chubbier than the original version, and it makes him have a baby face (no pun intended)

If you mean a "sound" yes it has a mixture of male and female voice. Personally it sounds a bit creepy because a male mix female voice is unnatural.
Unsure how you can "see" a voice.
But I'm pretty sure it sounds the same. The only difference being more emphasis to the female voice of Dormin.
Wander looks weird and the there's definitly some strange echoing in the female voice of Dormin.
ElfenBudd - It sounds fine. It's hard to have a "power voice" when you don't speak an actual language.

I need to stop watching these gameplay videos... I remember that when it got announced last year i started jumping and being so happy, i will probably be freaking out once i have it. This is one of the few games that actually made me feel like i wanted to cry just by hearing a version of 'Revived Power' in the ending of one of the trailers and i will surely introduce my younger cousins to it...
The funny thing is, as a kid playing this on PS2 my mind saw the graphics back then as I see them on PS4 today.

Only criticism I have is the weird "a-a-a-a" and "e-e-e-e" sounds Dormin sometimes makes while talking. Probably meant to be an echo, but it just sounds strange. Should have been edited out during sound testing.

I love it, but I feel like the music sounds really low in comparison with the sounds the colossus makes, I'm sure this can be fixed by changing the settings of the game though.
This game was originally supposed to have 48 colossi and during production that cut that number down to 24... ended up releasing with only 16, but they had all 24 models built... I would go nuts if they did some kind of DLC or something to add in the other 8 colossi they made, I'd buy that in a heartbeat!
Sadly Ueda wasnt for that. He didnt want Bluepoint to add or remove anything from his game.

SkullGM Meh this is the original, the people on AOT are scrub compare to the hero in this games.
They use that stupid grappling hooks that doesn't obey the laws of physics and makes them fly lol. While the hero in this game only needs his trusty horse, a normal Sword, a normal Bow and his bare hands.

Dayum I thought I could wait while I binge Monster Hunter, Dissidia, and Nioh. This is a favorite gem for a lot of people I'm sure. I just hope they added a lot of goodies, or new Colossus additions. Whatever happened to those leftover colossus they chose to leave out? My one wish for this game was for it to not be a high quality remaster, but at least add more. I know the creator has nothing to do with this remaster, but if they really built it from the ground up...it would've been nice to do more for the fans and newcomers alike.

They kind of ruined Dormin's voices, I don't remember them sounded this bad. They should've just kept the original audio track for Dormin. I have the PS2 and PS3 versions still, I'll play the intro in succession when I get my hands on this remake to compare but I'm pretty confident they also "remastered" the voice tracks for Dormin in this remake and ruined them in the process.

It's just AMAZING to read the comments here and see how many people claim SotC to be the greatest game of all-time!!! It truly IS, without a shadow of doubt! As Wander carries the girl to the alter, I get the chills every time....EVERY time! This game feels so majestic and EPIC!

This is not the proper way to play Shadow of the Colossus.
It is not a race to arrive first, in fact I remember having spent HOURS exploring the badlands, and now with that level of detail I do not even want to imagine the secrets that will keep their paths.
Please, play it without haste, enjoying each landscape, each cove, each cliff ...
Get some decent headphones and turn down the lights, close the curtains, and transport yourself to a magical other world :)

Awesome!! that's really sleek & refined. BUT!! As so many people didn't notice when switching with or without approbation to 16:9 format near 2007, I think we kinda lose the sense of height and vertigo by having our vertical perception field limited to just left and right . It's good for movies and cinematics but I think we lost a bit of the thrills for the gameplay.

Ugh what did they do to Wander's face!?
I'm conflicted, because they do a good job making wander emote more in a subtle way. However the old model let us impart our own emotions on to him and feel the story out a bit more for ourselves. Also he looked a bit more intense and predatory and that adds something too. So I'm eager to get my hands on it because it looks gorgeous and I want to see if it changes how i feel while playing.

I hope this version to have new content and stuff that never seen on the original or the HD remaster like a new colossus, new areas to explore and some sort of collectable for an excuse to let the players to explore some places in the game and not just going straight to where these colossus are, since this is a remake and not an HD Remaster of an already an HD Remastered game.
